Digital variable structure controller(DVSC) is implemented to control the temperature for the hot water heating circulating pump control system. For the DVSC, a control algorithm is suggested, which using a nonlinear sliding surface and a PID sliding surface outside and inside of steady state error boundary layer, respectively. Smith predictor algorithm is used for the compensation of long dead time. The DVSC of the suggested algorithm yields improved control performance compared with the one of existing algorithm. The system responses with the suggested DVSC shows good responses without overshoot and steady state error inspite of heating load change. By decreasing sampling time, dead time and rise time are increasing, and system output noise by flow dynamics is amplified.

In this paper, neural network-supervisory control method is proposed to minimize the effect of system uncertainty by load change and disturbance in the PID control system. In the proposed method, PID controller performs main control action by performing control within constraint error. And neural network-supervisory controller performs control action when error reaches the boundary of constraint error. Combining neural network-supervisory controller to guarantee the stability into PID control system, the resulting PID control system is expected to show better performance in the system with load change and disturbance. Simulation applying PID controller and neural network-supervisory controller showed excellence of proposed method.

Purpose Westgard multi-rules application based on test quality improvement and commercialized international standard has been widely used in quality control. However, it is difficult to applicate the Westgard multi-rules in nuclear medicine in vitro tests due to the larger sample sizes and the simultaneous measurement of quality control material and patient sample. This study investigated the usefulness of Westgard multi-rules application in nuclear medicine in vitro tests. Materials and Methods A total of 282 systematic error multi-rules (22s, 101s) recorded in the samsung medical center computer system from January 2013 to June 2016 along with 117 cases of corrective measure record was analyzed. The Quality control implementation is recorded in Hospital information system were divided into 4 high-level areas including quality control material error, experimental procedural error, Kit lot number management error, and others. To prevent quality control material error, the existing method that each staff used their own method was changed. The staff who in charge of managing the quality control material was designated and daily consumption amount of every test was strictly controlled by one person. To prevent other errors, every test step was standardized so that the entire test procedures are identically implemented. Results The total quality control implementation was 117 cases; As a result, 62 quality control material errors were 62 cases, experimental process errors were 24 cases, Kit lot number control errors were 18 cases, and other errors were 13 cases. The quality control material error was corrected and could be used fresh materials within 2 days after thawing. The cases of systemic error were decreased to causes as quality control material error. The quality control materials were reduced above 10 vials to a monthly average. In addition, these errors of experimental processing and Kit lot number were improved by test standardization. Consequently, the cases of 101s and 22s in systematic error rules decreased at least 2 cases to a monthly average. Conclusion To confirm of systematic error through multi-rules application quickly, it is necessary to base on management of the QC material, target values and standard deviation. Moreover, in the event of a systematic error, it was found important to record measures based on test cause analysis. The experiment results are expected to contribute to internal quality control improvement and prompt and accurate result reporting through error recording and causal analysis based on Westgard multi-rules analysis.

This paper describes the design of a smart three-axis force sensor for measuring forces Fx, Fy and Fz. The smart three-axis force sensor is composed of a three-axis force sensor, a force-measuring device, housing and a cover, where the three-axis force sensor and the force-measuring device are inside the housing and the cover. The measuring device measures forces Fx, Fy and Fz from the three-axis force sensor, and calculates the resultant force using the measured forces, and then sends the resultant force and forces to a PC or other controller using RS-485 communication. The repeatability error and the non-linearity error of the smart three-axis force sensor are less than 0.03%, and the interference error of the sensor is less than 0.87%. It is thought that the sensor can be used for measuring forces in a robot, automatic systems and so on.
If an error occurs in the automatic mode when the advanced teleoperator system performs a task in hostile environment then the automatic mode changes into the manual mode. The operation by the control program and the operation by a human recover the error in the manual mode. The system resumes the automatic mode and continues the given task. It is necessary to improve the manual mode in order to make the best use of a man-robot system, as a part of the human interface technique. Therefore, the error recovery task is performed by combining the operation by the control program representing autonomy of a robot and the operation by a human representing versatility of a human operator effectively in the view point of human factors engineering. The geometric inverse kinematics is used for the calculation of the robot joint values in the operation by the control program. The singularity operation error and the parameter operation error often occur in this procedure. These two operation errors increase the movement time of the robot and the coordinate reading time, during the error recovery task. A singularity algorithm, parameter algorithm and fuzzy control are studied so as to remove the disadvantages of geometric inverse kinematics. And the geometric straight line motion is studied so as to improve the disadvantages of the operation by a human.

This paper presents a method for reducing modelling error in the linear motion system with voicecoil actuator (VCA). A model of linear motion system composed of a mechanism and control was prepared to verify the proposed method. In modeling of the system, the damping coefficient obtained experimentally is applied to the model in order to consider the effect of the viscous friction for the moving part in VCA. The response velocity of VCA for duty ratio of PWM signal was analyzed in the time domain. Consequently, the relation between velocity and duty ratio was obtained. The result from the experiment showed an error of 9% when compared with that of simulation. In order to reduce the modeling error, impedance variation according to input frequency was analyzed, and equivalent impedance with multi-frequency was applied to the control part. As a result, the modeling error decreased to 5%.

The higher precision in manufacturing field is demanded, the more accurate servo controller is needed. To achieve the high precision, Koren proposed the cross-coupled control (CCC) method. The objective of the CCC is reducing the contour error rather than decreasing the individual axial error. The performance of CCC depends on the contour error model. In this paper we propose a new contour error model which utilizes contour error vector based on parametric curve interpolator. The experimental results show that the new CCC is more accurate than the variable-gain CCC during free-form curve motion.

This paper proposes an adaptive algorithm for the quantization step size control of MPEG-2, using the information obtained from the previously encoded picture. Before quantizing the DCT coefficients, the properties of reconstruction error of each macro block (MB) is predicted from the previous frame. For the prediction of the error of current MB, a block with the size of MB in the previous frame are chosen by use of the motion vector. Since the original and reconstructed images of the previous frame are available in the encoder, we can calculate the reconstruction error of this block. This error is considered as the expected error of the current MB if it is quantized with the same step size and bit rate. Comparing the error of the MB with the average of overall MBs, if it is larger than the average, small step size is given for this MB, and vice versa. As a result, the error distribution of the MB is more concentrated to the average, giving low variance and improved image quality. Especially for the low bit application, the proposed algorithm gives much smaller error variance and higher PSNR compared to TM5 (test model 5).
Mobile computing has such characteristics as portability, wireless network, mobility, etc. These characteristics cause various problems to mobile terminals like frequent disconnection, high error rate, and varying network status. These problems motivate us to develop an adaptive error control mechanism for supporting multimedia service in mobile computing environment. In this paper, we propose the Adaptive Error Control(AEC) scheme using client's buffer size and current error rate. After categorizing the status into four groups according to client's buffer size and current error rate, this scheme applies an appropriate error control scheme to each status. In this scheme, thresholds of buffer size and error rate are determined by the data transmission time, play rate and average VOP size, and by the probability of error for a sequence of packets. The performance of proposed scheme is evaluated by flaying MPEG-4 files on an experimental client/server environment, respectively. The results show that error correcting rate is similar to other schemes while the time for correcting error reduce a little. In addition, the size of data for correcting error is decreased by 23% compared with FEC and Hybrid FEC, respectively. Theses results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is more suitable in mobile computing environment with small bandwidth and varying environment than existing schemes.

This paper proposes a new finite control set-model predictive control (FCS-MPC) method for induction motors. In the method, the reference state that satisfies the given torque and rotor flux requirements is derived. Cost indices for the FCS-MPC are defined using the state tracking error, and a linear matrix inequality is formulated to obtain a proper weighting matrix for the state tracking error. The on-line procedure of the proposed FCS-MPC comprises of two steps: select the output voltage vector of the two level inverter minimizing the cost index and compute the optimal modulation factor of the minimizing output voltage vector in order to reduce the state tracking error and torque ripple. The steady state tracking error is removed by using an integrator to adjust the reference state. The simulation and experimental results demonstrated that the proposed FCS-MPC shows good torque, rotor flux control performances at different rotating speeds.
