  • A study on theergonomic design of the automated ship's bridge and console layout was carried out through this paper. The goal of this study is to find out the effective and ergonomic optimal design solutions of bridge layout hence to reduce the duty officier's workload and increase the safety of navigation. The conventional bridge layouts and modernized Integrated bridge layouts were compared using several factors. To use human factors, an ergonomic control panel layout system based on constraint satisfaction algorithm wa squoted. And the integrated ergonomic bridge layout was converged and applied to the redesign of the navigational console layout.

  • Lacks of harmony of a person and machine according to productivity elevation pursuit is happened by enterprise common problem in Global competition age and productivity loss is caused being connected to worker's burden work. Burden work in PET bottle production Process which are arrangement, Packing, interior inspection is analyzed by Ergonomic analysis technique. REBA estimation point(10~11 points) means the high step of hazard on worker's burden. It is immediately required the improvement on the process. This thesis show you the improving methods like package, examination justice.

  • In this work, an efficient and easy statistical method to find an equivalent discrete distribution for a continuous random variable (r.v.) is proposed. The proposed method is illustrated by applying it to the treatment of the anthropometrical noise factors in the context of Robust Ergonomic Design.

  • This paper interprets the Seongho/s ergonomec philosophy in terms of contemporary view of ergonomics, which appears in 'ichuck' of Seongho Sasul written in 1760's. The content of Jichuck is largely composed of three parts such as the proportions of human body dimensions, numerical examples, and the principles and method of clothes edsign. Some parts of human body proportions are tested and compared with Woodson's criteria and anthropometric data suggested by Korea Standards Research Institute in 1986. Concludingly, it is revealed that the ancient Seongho's ergonomic philosophy is regarded as apporopriate, and 'saji(4 fingers width)' is more reasonable for criterion of human body proportions.

  • Cumulative trauma disorders (CTD) refer to a category of physical signs and symptoms due to chronic musculoskeletal injuries where the antecedents appear to be related to some aspect of repetitive work which can be found commonly in modern industries. This paper describes impacts of CTD on modern industry and summarizes recent resent research efforts and suggests an ergonomic program to prevent incident of CTD in hand-intensive industry.

  • A control panel layout system was developed to generate an ergrnomically sound panel design. A constraint satisfaction concept was introduced as a framework of incorporating diverse ergonomic design guidelines into the panel layout. An efficient search algorithm which can find a constraint satisfaction solution within a reasonable time was developed based on preprocess and look ahead procedures with the backjumping technique. The proto- type panel layaout system was developed on a SPARC workstation. The constraint satisfaction algorithm was programmed in C language with Motif as a GUI tool under the X-windows environment. The effectiveness of the prototype paned layout system was examined by a case study.

  • A self-report musculoskeletal assessment tool was adapted following field use by ergonomic analysis teams and was administrated to 100 employees of ChangWon techno-complex. Results were analyzed to determine of the self-report could adequately predict whether or not an employee reportedly sought medical treatment for a work-related discomfort. It is anticipated this tool can be utilized as an easily administrated, proactive surveillance instrument to assist in early identification of ergonomic concerns and to help prioritize jobs for intervention.

  • Traditional methodologies for ergonomic evaluation are too laborious to be accepted broadly. CAD flex- flexibility and its ease can be a key to breaking this barrier. In this paper, a biokinematic modelis suggested for interactive computer aided ergonomic evaluation. Model parameters are derived and validated by regression analysis. This model showes more flexibility than the stick and joint models. An application is presented to show the clarity of this approach.

  • Human factors engineering has been taught in the design fields and considered as a necessary course for design students, We, ergonomists working with a design department, analyzed the current status of ergonomics curricula in the Korean design colleges. Sixty one percent of schools with design departments were offering ergonomics courses and most courses were electives. Comparatively more ergonomic courses were offered in industrial design and digital media departments. Ergonomic and human factors knowledge might not properly be acquired with this current status of the design curricula and systematic solutions should be considered and prepared for the future Korean designers.
