High concentration ratio approximation of linear effective properties of materials with cubic inclusions

  • This paper establish a high concentration ratio approximation of linear elastic properties of materials with periodic microstructure with cubic inclusions. The approximation is derived using first few terms of power series expansion of the solution of the equivalent eigenstrain problem with a homogeneous eigenstrain approximation. Viability of the approximation at high concentration ratios is proved by comparison with a numerical solution of the homogenization problem. To this end some theoretical result of symmetry properties of the homogenization problem are given. Using these results efficient numerical computation on a reduced computational domain is presented.

가옥 및 실험실내 라돈평형인자, 비 흡착 라돈자손 비율의 일일 변동 특성 (Diurnal Variations of Equilibrium Factor and Unattached fraction of Radon Progeny in Some Houses and Laboratories)

  • 일반가옥 및 실험실에서 라돈농도, 평형등가농도 및 평형인자의 농도 변화를 검토하였으며, 환기조건에 따른 평형인자, 비흡착 라돈자손 비율의 변통 특성을 검토하였다. 가옥 7개 지점에서의 평균 라돈농도, 평형등가농도 및 평형인자는 각각 $30\;Bq\;m^{-3},\;19.6\;Bq\;m^{-3}$, 0.65였다. 한편, 실험실 3개 지점에서의 평균 라돈농도, 평형등가농도 및 평형인자는 각각 $55.0\;Bq\;m^{-3},\;31.9\;Bq\;m^{-3}$, 0.58였다 실내에서의 라돈농도, 평형등가농도 및 평형인자는 새벽 및 아침시간에 높고 오후 4시부터 밤 10시 사이에 낮아지는 주기적인 특성을 나타내었다 환기상태가 좋은 경우가 환기상태가 나쁜 경우에 비해 평형인자는 낮아지는 반면, 비 흡착 라돈자손 비율이 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으며, 평형인자는 기압, 습도에 비례하는 반면, 온도에는 반비례하는 관계를 나타내었다.

  • High resolution geophysical imaging to delineate costal aquifer and seawater- freshwater interface has been applied in Baesu-eup, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeolla province Electrical resistivity information from vertical electrical sounding and 2-D electrical resistivity survey is key parameter to map equivalent Nacl concentration map over the survey area. Seismic velocity from refraction tomographic survey, on the other hand, gives more reliable information on the subsurface stratagraphy than electrical resistivity methods which frequently suffer from low resolution due to masking effect. We imaged high-resolution 3-D structure of costal aquifer by correlating the electrical resistivity with seismic velocity, and mapped equivalent NaCl concentration map using resistivity and hydro-geological information from well logging.

  • Previous researches on the analysis of algae concentration were restricted to applying single-valued decay coefficient during simulation period, and the accuracy as well as the applicability were severely challenged. In this study, an equivalent tracking method of decay coefficient was proposed by introducing the time-series decay coefficients and restart option. Dye module in EFDC model was employed to route the temporal variation of Chl-a concentration. It was shown that the simulation results can be significantly improved up to 46% when the equivalent tracking method was activated.

세포조직배양법을 이용한 쥐 인공피부의 개발 (Development of Dermal Equivalent Using Mouse Fibroblasts)

  • As the first stage of development of an artificial skin, fibroblasts were cultured in the collagen matrices to make a living dermal equivalent. Mouse embryonic fibroblasts were incorporated into a collagen matrices on plastic dishes containing concentrated DMEM culture media supplemented with sodium bicarbonate, hepes, antibiotics and fetal bovine serum. As the growth stimulation components, glycosaminoglycans were added: hyaluronic acid, chondroitin sulfate, heparin, chitosan were incorporated into the media at a concentration of either 1% or 5% w/w/ to collagen in order to investigate the effect on development of dermal equivalent. After the few days of incubation, gel matrics were contracted and firm dermal equivalent were formed. And the keratinocytes were cultured on top of dermal equivalent and make a three dimensional artificial skin tissue.

Assessment of seawater intrusion using geophysical well logging and electrical soundings in a coastal aquifer, Youngkwang-gun, Korea

  • A combination of drilling, geophysical well logging, and electrical soundings was performed to evaluate seawater intrusion in Baeksu-eup, Youngkwang-gun, Korea. The survey area extends for over 24 $km^2$. To delineate the extent of seawater intrusion, 60 vertical electrical soundings (VES) have been carried out. Twelve wells were also drilled for the collection of hydrogeological, geochemical, and geophysical well logging data, to delineate the degree and vertical extent of seawater intrusion. To map the spatial distribution of seawater in this coastal aquifer, geophysical data and hydrogeochemical results were used, and the relation between the resistivity of groundwater and equivalent NaCl concentration was found. Layer parameters derived from VES data, various in-situ physical properties from geophysical well logging, and the estimated equivalent NaCl concentration were very useful for quantitative evaluation of seawater intrusion. Our approach for evaluating seawater intrusion can be considered a valuable attempt at enhancing the use of geophysical data.

타원형 및 토리-구형 압력용기도옴의 두께 최적화설계 (Optimal Thickness Design of Ellipsoidal and Tori-Spherical Pressure Vessel Domes)

  • This study presents thickness optimization for the pressure vessel domes subject to internal pressure and axial force simultaneously. The considered typical pressure vessel domes are ellipsoidal and tori-spherical domes with skirt and nozzle part. These pressure vessel domes under loading have higher stress concentration on geometric discontinuity parts. Therefore, thickness optimization of axi-symmetric pressure vessel domes is essentially concerned on minimizing this stress concentration. The objective function is minimization of weight of pressure vessel dome. The design variable is thickness of dome and cylinder. Considered constraint is Von Mises equivalent stress. In the optimization procedure, ANSYS code is used. The equivalent and hoop stress of original shape domes are compared with those of optimal shape domes. And optimal thicknesses for pressure vessel domes are presented.

수축된 콜라겐 격자와 배양된 각질형성세포를 이용한 피부 대용물질의 제조에 관한 연구 (Preparation of Living Skin Equivalent by using the Contracted Collagen Lattice and Cultured Human Keratinocytes)

  • An experimental study was performed for the preparation of living skin-equivalent by the using collagen gel contraction with human fibroblasts as neodermls and cultured human keratinocytes as neoderm is . The results were as follows ; 1) The rate of collagen gel contraction was dependent on the number of fibroblasts into the lattice and collagen contraction was progressed according to the increment of the number of the cells. 2) The rate of collagen gel contraction was progressed according to the decrement of the contraction of the collagen. 3) The rate of gel contraction was progressed according to the increment of serum concentration in the fixed concentration of the fibroblasts and collagen. 4) The lattice contraction was decreased according to the increment of the population doublings of the fibroblasts. 5) Macroscopically, the artificial dermis was gray white in color and tissue-like consistency and elas- ticity. 6) Microscopically, three dimensionally contracted artificial dermis showed more dense fibroblasts and its newly formed collagen fibrils in the matrix than one dimensionally contracted one. 7) Finally prepared skin-equivalent showed good attachment of living stratified keratinocytes to the dermal equivalent microscopically. It has been proposed that newly formed skin-equivalent is suitable for the graft of extensively and deeply burned patients. Shortening of the manufacturing period of skin-equivalent and development of conservation technique as a readily usable state are to be solved for our ongoing works.

  • 원자력발전소로부터 배출되는 방사성물질에 의한 피폭선량을 규제하는데 있어 몇 가지 종류들의 방식들이 적용되어 왔다. ICRP에 의해 권고된 일차 선량 당량 제한치가 가장 근본적인 것이다. 일차 제한치가 직접 적용될 수 없을 때 외부 피폭의 경우 선량당량 지표가 내부피폭의 경우 최대허용농도, 연섭취 제한치 흑은 유도대기 농도 및 최대 신체 부하량 등이 이용되어 왔다. 그러나 이 값들은 실제 배출량을 제어하는 견지에서 바로 사용할 수 없어 유도방출 기준치를 구하게 된다. 본 연구에선 월성 원자력발전소에 대해 고려되는 특정환경들 사이의 전달속도가 시간에 독립적인, 장기성 농축인자 방식으로 방출속도의 유도 제한치를 구하였다.

마우스 소핵(Micronuclei, MN) 시험방법을 이용한 감잎차 추출물의 돌연변이 억제효과 (Antimutagenic Effects of Persimmon Leaf Tea Extract (PLTE) in Mice Using Micronucleus Induction (MN) Test)

  • The antimutagenic effects of persimmon leaf tea extract (PLTE) at concentration levels consumed by human were examined in mice using micronuleus induction with MMC(mitomycin C) or 4-NQO (4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide). When mice received oral gavage of 10 equivalent to PLTE 24 hr and 6 hr before, and 5 equivalent to PLTE 6 hr before and 3 hr after intraperitoneal injection of MMC, a significant decrease in the frequency of micronuclei were observed. The induction of micronuclei by 4-NQO was suppressed by oral dosage of PLTE at 5 equivalent to PLTE 6 hr before and 3 hr after, 10 equivalent to PLTE 3 hr before and 3 hr after intraperitoneal injection of MMC. Though the components of PLTE have not been analyzed so far, our present results suggest the existence of several bio-antimutagens and/or desmutagens in PLTE, beside catechin, well-known antimutagen.
