  • Sport has no age limit and can be done anywhere and in any condition with minimal equipment. The existence of sports spaces in all parts of the world is considered a citizen's right. One of the activities carried out in this field is installing sports equipment and structures in parks and encouraging citizens to use this equipment for physical health with the least cost and facilities. Installing sports structures in open spaces such as parks is a practical step for developing citizens' sports. Although using devices in parks is acceptable, it is more critical to meet scientific and technical standards. The components of these structures must have high strength and endurance against changes in environmental conditions such as humidity, temperature difference, and corrosion. Among the various causes of material degradation, corrosion has always been one of several fundamental causes of metal equipment failure. Sports structures in open spaces are not safe from corrosion. Uniform corrosion is the most common type of corrosion. This corrosion usually occurs uniformly through a chemical or electrochemical reaction across the surface exposed to the corrosive environment. Rust and corrosion of outdoor sports structures are examples of this corrosion. For this reason, in this research, with the green synthesis of silica nanoparticles and its application in outdoor sports structures, the life span of these structures can be increased for the use of physical exercises as well as their quality.

  • Under limited transmission conditions, many factors affect the efficiency of video transmission. During the flight of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), frequent network switching often occurs, and the channel transmission condition changes rapidly, resulting in low-video transmission efficiency. This paper presents an efficient video coding flow for UAVs working in the 5G nonstandalone network and proposes two bit controllers, including time and spatial bit controllers, in the flow. When the environment fluctuates significantly, the time bit controller adjusts the depth of the recursive codec to reduce the error propagation caused by excessive network inference. The spatial bit controller combines the spatial bit mask with the channel quality multiplier to adjust the bit allocation in space to allocate resources better and improve the efficiency of information carrying. In the spatial bit controller, a flexible mini graph is proposed to compute the channel quality multiplier. In this study, two bit controllers with end-to-end codec were combined, thereby constructing an efficient video coding flow. Many experiments have been performed in various environments. Concerning the multi-scale structural similarity index and peak signal-to-noise ratio, the performance of the coding flow is close to that of H.265 in the low bits per pixel area. With an increase in bits per pixel, the saturation bottleneck of the coding flow is at the same level as that of H.264.

  • Purpose: This study describes a case report of wound care performed by a community health practitioner for a rural older adult with diabetic ulcers. Methods: Data were collected from a rural older adult who had a diabetic lower extremity ulcer, and wound dressing was applied over 20 weeks after the skin graft operation. Results: The patient visited a primary healthcare post for regular ulcer care, and a community health practitioner applied appropriate wound dressings and managed the patient's diabetic condition. Conclusion: In rural areas, where healthcare resources are scarce compared with urban areas, rural nurses, such as community health practitioners, are primarily required to manage rural residents' health problems. Advanced nursing practices such as complicated wound care should also be appropriately provided to patients by enhancing rural nurses' competencies in the changing health care environment.

  • According to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), many countries around the world have been concerned with reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions. Reducing the level of building energy consumption is particularly important in bringing GHG down. Because of this, many countries including the US and the EU are enforcing energy-related policies. However, these policies are focused on management of single types of buildings such as public buildings and office buildings, instead of management on a national level. Thus, although various policies have been enforced in many countries, CO2 management on a national level is still not an area of focus. Therefore, this study proposed a community-based CO2 management process that allows government-led GHG management. The minimum unit of the community in this study is a plot, and the process consists of three steps. First, the current condition of the GHG emission was identified by plot. Second, based on the identified results, the GHG emission reduction target was distributed per plot by reflecting the weighted value according to (i) the target CO2 reduction in the buildings in the standard year, (ii) region, and (iii) building usage and size. Finally, to achieve the allocated target reduction, building energy management was executed according to the properties of the building located on each plot. It can be expected that the proposed community-based CO2 management process will enable government-level GHG management, through which environment-friendly building construction can be promoted.

  • Using micromill, discrete carbonate powders from the otolith of Argyrosomus argentatus were sampled along the growth band, and high-resolution stable isotope profiles were obtained. The ${\delta}^{18}O$ and ${\delta}^{13}C$ values are increasing gradually from the core to the margin. However, such increases do not seem to be attributed to the environmental property changes during the growth, but to the dominant effect of metabolic carbons during the early growth, and then, the isotopic composition seems to be equilibrium to the environmental condition. This paper allows the diverse applicability of high-resolution isotope research to the fish otoliths in the future.

  • This work presents a comprehensive investigation of buckling behavior of bidirectional functionally graded imperfect beams exposed to several thermal loading with general boundary conditions. The nonlinear governing equations are derived based on 2D shear deformation theory together with Von Karman strain-displacement relation. The beams are composed of two different materials. Its properties are porosity-dependent and are continuously distributed over the length and thickness of the beams following a defined law. The resulting equations are solved analytically in order to determine the thermal buckling characteristics of BDFG porous beams. The precision of the current solution and its accuracy have been proven by comparison with works previously published. Numerical examples are presented to explore the effects of the thermal loading, the elastic foundation parameters, the porosity distribution, the grading indexes and others factors on the nonlinear thermal buckling of bidirectional FG beam rested on elastic foundation.

  • Disposal cover as an engineered barrier of a near-surface disposal facility for low and very low-level radioactive waste is composed of a multi-layer to isolate radioactive waste from environmental influences for the long term. To acquire a realistic forecast for the post-closure period of the disposal facility, it is essential to carry out long-term experimental research in a similar condition to the actual disposal environment. Hence, a performance test facility of the disposal cover was constructed in Gyeongju low and intermediate level radioactive waste disposal center in 2022. The constructed performance test facility has differences from the material properties presented in the design. These differences are factors that affect the prevent rainfall infiltration, which is one of the important roles of the disposal cover. Therefore, in this study, a numerical simulation of rainfall infiltration into the performance test facility was performed for the designed case and the actual constructed case. To simulate the behavior of water infiltration, the FEFLOW software based on the finite element method is used. Through the analysis of numerical simulation results, it is confirmed that the hydraulic conductivity of the material constituting the multi-layer of the disposal cover greatly influences the amount of water infiltration.

  • Cordyceps militaris is widely used in China, Korea, and other Asian countries as both a traditional medicinal ingredient and an edible fungus. This study aimed to optimize the growth conditions and fruiting body production of C. militaris by investigating various culture media and physical parameters such as pH, aeration, illumination, temperature, spawn materials, and oat-sawdust-based substrate formulations. After a 7-day incubation period, oats with a pH of 6.0, under sealed and illuminated conditions at 32℃, demonstrated the most effective mycelial growth. Substrates consisting of 70% oat and 30% sawdust had the shortest incubation time of 30.5 days for fruiting body formation. The basidiospores showed a typical germination pattern where the sporidium produced a single germ tube that elongated, and branched to form monokaryotic primary mycelia. In conclusion, using oats as a substrate in the cultivation of C. militaris could reduce production costs and help protect the environment.

  • The health and working conditions of employees have become increasingly important issues in modern society. In recent years, there has been a continuous rise in problems related to the deterioration of workers' alth, which seriously affects their safety and overall quality of life. Although existing research has investigated various factors affecting workers' health and working conditions, there is still a lack of studies that scientifically analyze and identify key variables from the vast number of factors. This study employs the Lasso (Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator) technique to mathematically analyze the key variables influencing workers' health status and satisfaction with their working environment. Lasso is a technique used in machine learning to identify a small number of variables that impact the dependent variable among a large set of variables, thereby reducing model complexity and improving predictive accuracy. The results of the study can be utilized in efficiently improving workers' health and working environments by focusing on a smaller set of impactful variables.
