  • Helmet Mounted Display(HMD) has great advantages on the navigation and mission symbologies for the pilot's forward looking display and, therefore, has been remarkably drawing attention as the up coming display of the next generation aircraft. The essential technology to process the Line of Sight-Foward(LOS-F) data in real-time is to estimate exact helmet situation and position. In this paper, we research a acoustic helmet tracking technique. For the reason that mechanical acoustic noises might interfere with Helmet Tracking System(HTS) and unnecessary acoustic noises are inevitable when using acoustic technique, this approach has not been adapted. In order to overcome this problem. We propose that acoustic wave of which the wave length is longer than audio frequency and, especially, we used beating signal envelope which is composed of two close high frequency.

  • In this paper, the pre-precessing method for the recognition of single vowels by use of spectrum envelope is presented , we use new method of an extrating spectrum envelope using the diffusion filter bank. We reduced the total processing time, and got higher enhancement of discrimination . By getting 88.3% of average recognition rate for single vowels of real voice through computer simulation, we confirmed it to be useful for speech recongition which use spectrum analysis for voice signal to have many frequency components.

  • A comprehensive analytical study of total-intake current waveforms is described. In particular, the characteristics of the modulation envelope of the waveforms are the subject of detailed investigation. It is shown that the lower modulation envelope of the total intake current is capable of providing a signal suitable for use in stabilising a variable-reluctance stepping motor.

  • A synchronization method is presented for IEEE 802.11a wireless OFDM system. First the coarse symbol synchronization is achieved by measuring the moving power average of the received envelope signal. The detection probabilities and optimum thresholds for the symbol synchronization are derived. By measuring the correlation between the short training signal and received envelope signal, fine symbol synchronization can be acquired. And the frequency synchronization is achieved using long training signal. A symbol synchronization error causes a phase rotation of the constellation. After the compensation for fading channel, the rotation due to the symbol timing error can be corrected. With this method, synchronization can be well achieved over frequency selective channels.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel unambiguous correlation function for composite binary offset carrier (CBOC) signal tracking. First, we observe that a sub-carrier of CBOC signal is seen as a sum of four partial sub-carriers, and generate four partial-correlations composing the CBOC autocorrelation. Then, we obtain an unambiguous correlation function with a sharp main-peak by re-combining the partial correlations. From numerical results, we confirm that the proposed unambiguous correlation function offers a better tracking performance than the conventional correlation functions in terms of the tracking error standard deviation and multipath error envelope.

  • In this paper, we present a multi-code parallel combinatory CDMA system using bi-orthogonal modulation to reduce envelope variation and improve bit error. .rate (BER) performance. In general, the dynamic range of the amplitude of the transmit signal is very large in the case of conventional multi-code CDMA systems, resulting in severe nonlinear distortion due to high power amplifier and thus significant BER performance degradation. The proposed system exhibits reduction of peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the transmit signal amplitudes and significant performance improvement. We verify the performance of the proposed system by computer simulations under AWGN channel and flat fading channel.

  • In this paper, we considered multiple faults detection on a coaxial cable through Time-Frequency Domain Reflectometry (TFDR). It is well known that TFDR has high resolution accuracy for detecting and estimating the fault detection on a coaxial cable. This approach was based on time-frequency signal analysis and utilized a chirp signal multiplied by a Gaussian time envelope. The Gaussian envelope provided time localization, while the chirp allowed one to excite the system interest. We carried out experiments with 10C-FBT coaxial cable having either one or two faults. The result shows TFDR can be extended to detect multiple faults with high accuracy on a coaxial cable.

  • Heart sound segmentation into its components, S1, systole, S2 and diastole is the first step of analysis and the most important part in the automatic diagnosis of heart sounds. Conventionally, the Shannon energy envelope peak detection method has been popularly used due to its superior performance in locating S1 and S2. Recently, the HMM has been shown to be quite suitable in modeling the heart sound signal and its use in segmenting the heart sound signal has been suggested with some success. In this paper, we compared the two methods for heart sound segmentation using a common database. Experimental tests carried out on the 4 different types of heart sound signals showed that the segmentation accuracy relative to the manual segmentation was 97.4% in the HMM based method which was larger than 91.5% in the peak detection method.

  • The LPMS (Loose Part Monitoring Systems) are used widely for detecting the impact position in the nuclear reactor. There are some major methods to detect impact position in LPMS such as the triangular method, the rectangular method, the circular intersection method and so on. The time difference of these methods are calculated using S0-mode and A0-mode waves of each sensor. In this paper, we propose a method to detect impact position using the enveloped waves of acquired signals. The result of this paper show that the position detecting accuracy and reducing the processing time are proposed method is improved than traditional methods.

  • In this paper we derive the probability density function of the phase error and that of the envelope of the received signal over Nakagami fading channel. Using the new probability density functions we analyze the performance of coherent BPSK, noncoherent FSK, DPSK and noncoherent ASK on Nakagami fading by means of new methods.
