주파수변조장치를 이용한 열펌프식 공기조화기의 냉방-난방에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Performance of Heat Pump Air Conditioner according to Frequency Modulator for Cooling and Heating)

  • This paper is an experimental study on the pleasantly suitable cool/warm air conditioning system in order to minimize the energy consumption by attaching the electronic-controlled device to the heat pump air conditioning system.While the cool/warm air conditioning, the air temperatures in the entrance and exit of the indoor heat exchangers should be checked and when the surface of heat exchanger is reached to the dew point temperature, a speed of the compressor is to be automatically controlled by anti-dewing system in order to minimize the energy consumption.At the result of this study, the energy consuming amount is saved about 5% more than that of the conventional air conditioning system by prevent unnecessary dew forming.

Design of Solar Cell Cooling System Using Convection Phenomena

  • We constructed a cooling system for solar cells using convection phenomena and investigated its cooling performance. The cooling system didn't need any driving power or water resources. The convection cooler manufactured with a right-triangle shape of an air duct was attached to the rear of the solar cell to confirm that cooling was performed using convection phenomena. When the ratio of duct width to attachment surface width was 3:7, and the ratio of entrance height and exit height of duct was 5:1, it showed the best cooling performance. Comparative experiments with solar cells without convection cooler showed that cooling effects from 16.5℃ to 20.9℃ occurred after 40 minutes exposed to the 1300W Xenon lamp condition.

  • A study is made to put forward the new method of continuous-shear drawing (CSD), and investigate deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of aluminum alloy with a comparison of equal-channel angular (ECA) drawing. In contrast to ECA drawing, the die for CSD deformation can impart an additional strain to the workpiece since the diameter of the exit channel is narrower than that of its entrance channel. Although no significant crack occurs in all conditions during deformation, the sample deformed via CSD method showed better surface quality as compared to ECA drawing. This is mainly ascribed to the fact that the sample is significantly bent rather than sheared when deforming through ECA drawing.

회전 초음파가공 주축 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Rotary Ultrasonic Machining Spindle)

  • Ultrasonic machining (USM) has been considered a new, cutting-edge technology that presents no heating or electrochemical effects, with low surface damage and small residual stresses on brittle workpieces. However, nowadays, many researchers are paying careful attention to the disadvantages of USM, such as low productivity and tool wear. On the other hand, in this study, a high-performance rotary ultrasonic drilling (RUD) spindle is designed and assembled. In this system, the core technology is the design of an ultrasonic vibration horn for the spindle using finite element analysis (FEA). The maximum spindle speed of RUM is 9,600 rpm, and the highest harmonic displacement is $5.4{\mu}m$ noted at the frequency of 40 kHz. Through various drilling experiments on glass workpieces using a CVD diamond-coated drill, the cutting force and cracking of the hole entrance and exit side in the glass have been greatly reduced by this system.

하이브리드 촉매 연소기의 연소특성에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical Studies on Combustion Characteristics of a Hybrid Catalytic Combustor)

  • The combustion characteristics of the hybrid catalytic(catalytic+thermal) combustor with a lean methane-air mixture on platinum catalyst were investigated numerically using a 2-D boundary layer model with detailed homogeneous and heterogeneous chemistries. for the more accurate calculations, the actual surface site density of monolith coated with platinum was decided by the comparison with experimental data. It was found that the homogeneous reactions in the monolith had little effect on the change of temperature profile, methane conversion rate and light off location. However, the radicals such as OH and CO were produced rapidly at exit by homogeneous reactions. The effect of operation conditions such as equivalence ratio, temperature, velocity, pressure and diameter of the monolith channel at the entrance were studied. In thermal combustor, the production of N$_2$O was more dominant than that of NO due to the relative importance of the reaction N$_2$+O(+M)→N$_2$O(+M). Finally the productions of CO and NOx by amount of methane addition were studied.

고체 램제트 추진기관 연소실에서의 연소 현상 (Combustion Behavior in a Solid Fuel Ramjet Combustor)

  • 본 연구는 보론 카바이드를 함유한 고체 연료를 사용하여 고체 램제트에서 공기 유속량에 따른 연소효율과 입자 크기의 분포를 실험적으로 조사하였다. 입자 분포는 그레인 끝 부분과 노즐 입구에서 MALVERN 2600 HSD를 사용하여 측정하였다. 연소 효율은 공기 유속량이 적을수록 연소 효율이 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 일반적으로 입자 분포는 대략적으로 4, 15와 25$\mu\textrm{m}$, 경우에 따라 2$\mu\textrm{m}$ 보다 적은 크기에서 한 곳을 포함하여 3곳의 피크치 또는 4 곳의 피크치를 나타내는 분포를 보였다. 큰 입자는 주로 재순환 영역에서 표면에서의 입자들의 뭉침의 결과이다. 흡입 공기의 온도가 높으면 연소 효율이 좋았는데 이는 확산 영역에서 연소하는 큰 보론 카바이드 입자의 연소 촉진 결과로 보인다.

Novel Telecentric Collimator Design for Mobile Optical Inspection Instruments

  • A collimator refers to an optical system that images a collimated beam at a desired point. A resolution target located at a near distance can be converted into a virtual image located at a long distance. To test the resolution for mobile cameras, a large target is placed at a long distance. If a collimator system is used, the target can be placed at a near distance. The space required for a resolution inspection can thus be drastically reduced. However, to inspect a mobile camera, the exit pupil of the collimator system and the entrance pupil of the mobile camera must match, and the stop of the collimator system must be located on the last surface. Because a collimator system cannot be symmetrical with respect to the stop, the distortion becomes extremely large, which can be corrected by combining the collimator symmetrically with respect to the object plane. A novel system was designed to inspect an optical lens on a mobile phone. After arranging the refractive power, lenses were added using the equivalent lens design method. The distortion was reduced to less than 1%. This optical system satisfies a half-field angle of 45° and an optical performance sufficient for inspection.

복부 일반촬영시 초점-필름간거리 변화가 피폭선량 및 화질에 미치는 영향 (Effects on Patient Exposure Dose and Image Quality by Increasing Focal Film Distance in Abdominal Radiography)

  • We can and must improve the diagnostic images using available knowledge and technology. At the same time we must strive to reduce the patient's integral and entrance radiation dose. Reducing the integral dose to the patient during the radiologic procedure is a primary concern of the patient, especially the pediatric patient, the radiologist and the technologist. A 100cm focal film distance generally is used for most over-table radiography. The early x-ray tubes and screen film combinations required long exposures, which often resulted in motion artifacts. But nowaday, we have the generators and x-ray tubes that can deliver the energy necessary in a very short time and the receptors that can record the information just as rapidly. And, we performed this studies to evaluate the patient exposure dose and the image quality by increasing focal film distance in diagnostic radiography. There are many factors which affected to exposure factor, but we studied to verify of FFD increase, only. Effect of increasing the focal film distance to a 140 cm distance was tested as follows; 1. The focal film distances were set at 100, 120, and 140cm. 2. A 18cm acryl(tissue equivalent) phantom was placed on the table top. 3. An Capintec 192 electrometer with PM 05 ion chamber was placed at the entrance surface of the phantom, and exposure were made at each focal film distances. 4. The procedure was repeated in the same manner as above except the ion chamber was placed beneath the phantom at the film plane. 5. Exit exposure were normalize to 8mR for each portions of the experiment. Based on the success of the empirical measurements, a detailed mathematical analysis of the dose reduction was performed using the percent depth dose data. The results of this study can be summerized as followings ; 1) Increasing FFD from 100 cm to 140 cm, we would create a situation that would have a significant effect on the overall quality of radiograph and achive the 17.42% reduction of entrance dose and the 18.95% reduction of integral dose that the patient receives. 2) Thickness of Al step wedge for equal film density increased with the long distance. 3) Increasing FFD, Magnification of image was lowered. 4) Resolution of image also increased with the FFD. As the results described above, we strongly recommend using the long FFD to provide better information for our patients and profession in abdomen radiographic studies.

A Study on the Safe Maneuvering of a G/T 100,000 Ton LNG Vessel by Using Her Control Surface through a Narrow Channel

  • Nawadays LNG has been beginning to take the place of petroleum as fuel all over the world and VLCC tankers of LNG will take the same sea routes that had been used by VLCC tankers of petroleum in the last pat of he 20th century. The transportation of LNG by a VLCC include more dangerous nature of sea peril than that of petroleum. We already know the dimensions of a disaster a LNG tanker could bring about in the case of the LNG tanker, Yuyo-Maru No. 10 in the Tokyo Bay of Japan in 1974. From the point of safety when we construct a LNG base or LNG pier in the base, the appropriate government authority and constructing company had better take sea pilots or some ships handling experts to participate in a prior consultation of the design of the project. A G/T 100,000 ton LNG base and pier were completed in November of 1996 in Inchon harbour in Korea and LNG VLCC tankers of G/T 100,000 ton class have been entering into the base ever since. This study was started and completed to comply with the requisition of the Sea Pilot Association of Inchon harbour in advance of the opening of the LNG base. As the entrance and exit channels leading to Inchon harbour were constructed in the years of 1930s, it was one of the most pressing works for Inchon sear pilots in 1996 to certify the method of safe passing maneuvering of a G/T 100,000 ton LNG tanker through the Pudo narrow channel prior to commercing actual piloting of the LNG VLCC tanker. The author made some mathematical models computing maneuvering of a vessel changing her course with her control surface through a narrow channel and computed maneuvering of a G/T 100,000 ton LNG tanker and also made maneuvering simulations of the vessel by a desk-top simulator. The results of computations and simulations are well coincided with each other in qualitative aspects to assure safe passing of the LNG VLCC.
