The aim of this study is to understand how English textbooks in Korea reflect English education policies for improving the English language learners' cultural ability. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the method of analyzing English textbooks was used because English textbooks are an important tool that most specifically reflects the English policy of a country. This study analyzed a total of 15 English textbooks currently used in South Korea. We analyzed nouns/pronouns related to culture presented in the reading section included in each unit, and compared cultural diversity and cultural identity included in English textbooks in Korea. As a result, it was found that South Korea has tried to cultivate Korean learners' cultural competence through English education and introduced their cultural pride to Western culture to realize the goal of strengthening global capabilities.

본고는 광주광역시 남구의 어린이집에 자녀를 보내고 있는 학부모들을 대상으로 초등학교 취학 전 아동의 조기영어교육에 대한 부모의 인식과 실태를 통해 바람직하고 효과적인 조기영어교육을 마련하기 위한 기초적인 자료를 얻는데 목적을 두고 첫째, 광주광역시 남구지역의 조기영어교육에 관한 학부모들의 인식을 조사하여 문제점을 살펴보고 효율적인 방향을 제시한다. 둘째, 현재 조기영어교육이 행해지고 있는 어린이집에 자녀를 보내는 학부모님들에게 설문지를 배포하여 조기영어교육에 관한 인식을 조사했다, 이조사를 바탕으로 조기영어 교육의 올바른 교육방향을 제시하는데 목적이 있다.

The purpose of this study is (1) to present a model for Capstone design class in English education, and (2) to recognize students' performance and perceptions about Capstone design class in English education. The participants were senior students majoring in English education. The Capstone design class model was developed, applied, and evaluated after changing 'English-American Culture' subject to 'Capstone Design for English-American Culture Education.' In this study, the class design, performance procedures, derived topics, and examples of performance outcomes were presented. The classes were also evaluated through an understanding evaluation of English-American culture, task performance and final outcome evaluation, a descriptive satisfaction assessment of students, a lecture evaluation, and a teacher's self-reflection assessment. As the result, the average score of a class that applies Capstone design was higher than that of a class that does not apply the Capstone design. There were many positive opinions regarding the Capstone design class. In addition, the teacher's self-reflection indicated that students should be exposed to such design from the beginning.

The purpose of this study is to find out the perception of parents in order to develop a software education program for elementary students convergence with English. A survey was administered to 120 parents asking perceptions about SW education in schools and preferences about English-SW convergence programs for their elementary school children. The results shows that the parents think the current 17 hours of SW education provided at elementary schools is not enough and also they hoped the education started at an earlier grade than the current 5th·6th graders. Most parents perceived English is helpful in SW education and answered strongly for the need of English-SW convergence programs. A two-week program with the ratio of 6(SW):4(English) was the most preferred according to the study. As for regional differences, the parents in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province wanted SW education as after-school programs in elementary schools whereas, parents in Chungcheong Province expected SW education programs be provided from near-by universities. It is hoped that with the results of this study various English-SW education programs are developed and operated.

The nation's economic development goals of the South Korea were implemented successfully, and a wave of Confucian-inspired fervor for education resulted in unprecedented economic growth in South Korea. Despite the longstanding reputation of Confucianism as an impediment to industrial growth, its beneficial social ideals, such as the deification of study and truthfulness, are now largely viewed as a key driver in South Korea's economy and greater education. Confucianism's positive societal ideals include the veneration of study and sincerity. This study examines the phenomenon of 'English Fever' in South Korean educational history and figured out four main phenomenon to explain the topic of the study Theses are the following: (1) The Growing Influence of English in South Korean Education, (2) The Effects of Teaching English in Schools, (3) The Effect of English Education on Admissions to universities, and (4) Social Implications of English Education. This study finally argues that modern-day South Korea's academic fervor can be traced back to the country's Confucian educational roots and that it has been bolstered by its ideology of an academic accomplishment-centered society and its principle of academic sectarianism. These traits can also be observed in other East Asian nations that uphold the Confucian legacy.

Recently, Korean universities have increased the number of English Medium Instruction (EMI) lectures in order to allow students to gain both specialized knowledge and enhanced English ability. Previous researches on effective EMI lectures have focused on exploring the effects of learners' cognitive and affective characteristics on learning outcomes. Whereas the input variables of learning have been investigated as predicting variables of effects in EMI lectures, there has been a few research for investigating process variables to yield learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationships among variables affecting on learner satisfaction and effects. The participants are 209 engineering students from various majors. Independent variables are defined as English motivation, English competency, and English confidence, a mediated variable is Cognitive engagement, and dependent variables are Learning satisfaction and Educational effect perception. The results show that the relationships are statistically significant: learners' English competency & English confidence ${\rightarrow}$ Cognitive engagement ${\rightarrow}$ Learning satisfaction ${\rightarrow}$ Educational effect perception. Especially, the structural model confirms that the effect of learners' English confidence on Learning satisfaction and Educational effect perception is mediated by the level of learners' Cognitive engagement. Further, the implication for effective EMI lectures is discussed based on the observed research results.

The purpose of this research is to introduce a new pedagogy for developing English education in the university. It is based on the favorable results of the application of Network English, which is a method that has been used in three classes at Y University for a period of one semester. Network English is a kind of integrated teaching method of offline and online education, and can be a learner-oriented educational method. The online aspect gives learners easier access to the text, regardless of time and place. And in addition to the characteristic of online itself, the various contents in conformity with the learning ability of learners are provided in the text, in order that the learners can get and maintain a desire for study without losing their interest in English. Although the offline part is not much different from traditional classes, the offline education can complement the deficiency of the online and also offer the learners the opportunity for questions and answers. From the results of application of Network English in three classes, the students were satisfied with the method and have more interest in English, which resulted in better grades.

Parents' desire for daily English practice for students and the urge for a etter English education has led to a demand for a highly qualified educational curriculum. In addition to getting deep-dive insights into parents' decision-making process, the increasingly important role of STEM education method has been proved in accordance with plenty of evidenced-based many of previous research. This study was conducted to examine the five independent factors affecting parents' intentions when designating English centers for their children, respectively named: Facility, Teachers, Brands, Social factors and Tuition. Through a preliminary approach, 235 samples were analyzed. Analysis of the sample responses reveals the importance level of five independent factors affecting Parents' intention to choose English centers in descending order: Facilities, Teachers, Brands, Tuition and Social factors. Furthermore, a positive correlation was found between STEM and Intention to choose English centers, indicating that whether the center applies STEM-related curriculum in English courses or not, in fact, has a significant impact on parents' decision. In terms of attitude towards STEM, further statistical tests revealed an interesting finding, which is the fact that how STEM affects Intention of parents is directly proportional to the Attitude towards STEM. With the help of SPSS 20 and AMOS 20, the SEM analysis was processed in order to draw conclusions about factors impacting Intentions to choose English centers. Combining with Multi-group analysis, the major role of STEM education has been assessed in relation to plenty of correlations. In light of recent major and massive growth of English teaching market in Vietnam, several suggestions and recommendations in terms of sustainable developments have been displayed in this research.

Research on software education and linking and convergence of other subjects has been mainly focused on mathematics and science subjects. The dissatisfaction of various preferences and types of learning personality cause to learning gap. In addition, it is not desirable considering the solution of various fusion problems that can apply the computational thinking. In this way, it is possible to embrace the diverse tendencies and preferences of students through the linkage with the English subject, which is a linguistic approach that deviates from the existing mathematical and scientific approach. By combining similarities in the process of learning a new language of English education and software education. For this purpose, based on the analysis of teaching - learning model of elementary English subject and software education, we developed a class model by modifying existing English subject and software teaching - learning model to be suitable for linkage. Then, the learning elements applicable to software education were extracted from the contents of elementary school English curriculum, and a program applied to the developed classroom model was designed and the practical application method of learning was searched.

The purpose of this study is to create step by step guidelines for effective team teaching between Korean teachers of English and native English teachers in Korea. Although team teaching has been used from 1995 in the teaching of English in Korea, the effectiveness of team teaching has not been as high as we have hoped. An important reason for this failure is the lack of communication between the Korean teachers of English and the native English teachers. More specifically, the failure has resulted from not only a lack of opportunities for these teachers to communicate but also a lack of guidelines and strategies for improved intercultural communication between teachers from different cultural backgrounds. This study provides step by step guidelines for how to set up communication time, what to share, and how to set up effective team teaching in English education.
