Fabrication of Ceramic-based Passive Mixers for Microfluidic Application by Thick Film Lithography (후막리소그라피를 이용한 세라믹기반의 미세유체소자용 수동형 혼합기의 제조)

  • Microfluidic device can be applied in a wide range of chemical and biological technology. In this paper, ceramic-based T-type passive mixers for microfluidic applications were fabricated by LTCC process combined with thick film photolithography. The base ceramic material in thick film was amorphous cordierite $((Mg,Ca)_2Al_4Si_5O_{18})$ and photoimageable polymers were added to give a photosensitivity. Two types of passive mixer, which showed the channel width of 1.0 mm and $200{\mu}m$, respectively, were designed considering mixing efficiency in the channel and their microfluidic properties were discussed in detail.

In Situ-DRIFTS Study of Rh Promoted CuCo/Al2O3 for Ethanol Synthesis via CO Hydrogenation

  • The promoting effect of rhodium on the structure and activity of the supported Cu-Co based catalysts for CO hydrogenation was investigated in detail. The samples were characterized by DRIFTS, $N_2$-adsorption, XRD, $H_2$-TPR, $H_2$-TPD and XPS. The results indicated that the introduction of rhodium to Cu-Co catalysts resulted in modification of metal dispersion, reducibility and crystal structure. DRIFTS results of CO hydrogenation at reaction condition (P=2 MPa, $T=260^{\circ}C$) indicated the addition of 1 wt % rhodium improved hydrogenation ability of Cu-Co catalysts. The ethanol selectivity and CO conversion were both improved by 1 wt % Rh promoted Cu-Co based catalysts. The alcohol distribution over un-promoted and rhodium promoted Cu-Co based catalysts obeys A-S-F rule and higher chain growth probability was got on rhodium promoted catalyst.

LDCSIR: Lightweight Deep CNN-based Approach for Single Image Super-Resolution

  • Single image super-resolution (SISR) is an image processing technique, and its main target is to reconstruct the high-quality or high-resolution (HR) image from the low-quality or low-resolution (LR) image. Currently, deep learning-based convolutional neural network (CNN) image super-resolution approaches achieved remarkable improvement over the previous approaches. Furthermore, earlier approaches used hand designed filter to upscale the LR image into HR image. The design architecture of such approaches is easy, but it introduces the extra unwanted pixels in the reconstructed image. To resolve these issues, we propose novel deep learning-based approach known as Lightweight deep CNN-based approach for Single Image Super-Resolution (LDCSIR). In this paper, we propose a new architecture which is inspired by ResNet with Inception blocks, which significantly drop the computational cost of the model and increase the processing time for reconstructing the HR image. Compared with the other state of the art methods, LDCSIR achieves better performance in terms of quantitively (PSNR/SSIM) and qualitatively.

  • 본 연구에서는 Graphene oxide를 $800^{\circ}C$, 질소분위기 하에서 환원시켜 얻은 $GP_{TR}$과 Hydrazine을 이용한 화학적 처리로 얻은 $GP_{CR}$의 분자구조를 제안하였다. 이때 grapheneoxide는 modified Hummers' method를이용하여 제조하였다. $GP_{TR}$$GP_{CR}$은 모두 표면에 몇몇의 oxide group이 존재하는데$GP_{TR}$은 six layer로 $C_{100}O_{3{\pm}1}$ 의 조성을 갖고 $GP_{CR}$은 three layer로 and $C_{100}O_{6.5{\pm}2}$의 조성을 갖는다. 그리고 면간간격은 $GP_{TR}$$3.432\;{\AA}$, $GP_{CR}$$3.760\;{\AA}$으로 전형적인 방법인 top downprocess로 얻은 graphene 보다 다소 크다는 것을 알 수 있다.

Improved performance of polyamide nanofiltration membranes by incorporating reduced glutathione during interfacial polymerization

  • Inspired by the specific amino acid sequence Asn-Pro-Ala (NPA) of water channel aquaporins (AQPs), we fabricated polyamide (PA) nanofiltration (NF) membranes by introducing reduced glutathione (GSH) in interfacial polymerization (IP) method. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS), scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), zeta potential and static water contact angle measurement were employed to characterize the chemical composition, morphology, electronegativity and hydrophilicity of the NF membranes. The water flux of GSH/PIP-TMC NF membrane reached $32.00L\;m^{-2}h^{-1}$ at 0.2 MPa, which was approximately twice than that of pristine PIP-TMC NF membrane when the ratio of GHS to piperazidine (PIP) was 40% during IP process. More water channels were built as GSH was embedded into PA layer. The fabricated NF membranes also took on potent rejection for dyes and $Na_2SO_4$. This study presents a simple and facile method to simulate water channels-based biological materials which may find potential application in water treatment.
