요건공학을 통한 TRIZ 문제정의 (TRIZ Problem Definition through Requirements Engineering)

  • Recently, there are many corporations, schools and institutes that apply TRIZ to solve technical problems. However, in reality, only a few cases of brainstorming applications exist in utilizing forty principles of TRIZ due to the difficulty at TRIZ problem definition. In order to facilitate TRIZ applications, this study proposes the utilization of requirement definition and description tool of systems engineering in TRIZ problem definition. No requirement definition exists in general problem types that TRIZ approach is used in implementing system solution. At most of problem situations, TRIZ users reversely infer that certain problem belongs to which requirement definition it is and recommends TRIZ tools to be used for the exact problem definition. This study also proposes TRIZ problem definition method by applying the results of requirement definition process. The application of TRIZ is demonstrated to the general situation with no problem definition where the proposed method enables the proper use of TRIZ.

과학고등학교 학생을 대상으로 한 공학적 문제해결 중심 메이커톤 프로그램의 개발 및 효과 (A Study on Effects of Make-A-Thon Program based on Engineering Problem Solving for Science high school students)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and apply a make-a-thon program based on engineering problem solving for science high school students and to analyze the changes of participating students. Through the consultation of teachers and experts, a team-based and student-driven engineering problem-solving-oriented make-a-thon program was developed. And, the program operated using KAIST's human and material resources for 51 students. Students composed of 12 teams studied 12 topics through an engineering problem-solving process, and the overall program satisfaction was very high, on average 4.62. Through this program, students' creative leader competency have been positively changed, especially in cognitive characteristics (diffusion thinking, problem solving ability) and social characteristics (pursuit of social values). Attitudes toward engineering also changed positively, especially in terms of difficulty of engineering, interest in engineering, gender role in engineering, and engineering and occupational factors. In conclusion, it was confirmed that this program is very effective for science high school students with high demand for engineering education.

공학교육에서 비판적 사고와 창의적 문제해결력의 관계 (The Relation of Critical Thinking and Creative Problem-solving in Engineering Education)

  • The creative problem-solving becomes one of the most important cognitive skills in the engineering education. As AI and automation technology(of 4th Industrial Revolution) penetrate our everyday life, its role as a human ability is highlighted. In this paper, we examine the relation between the creative problem-solving and the critical thinking, and the usefulness of the latter in the engineering education. To sum up, the critical thinking is the pre-conditon of the creative problem-solving.

공대생들의 창의적 문제해결유형별 셀프리더십과 통제소재 (Creative Problem Solving Style, Self-leadership and Locus of Control in the Korean Engineering College Students)

  • 본 연구는 공대생들을 대상으로 창의적 문제해결유형별로 셀프리더십과 통제소재의 특성을 파악함으로써 문제해결능력과 과제수행을 증진시키고 효과적인 팀을 구성, 관리하는데 도움을 주기 위해 수행되었다. 창의적 문제해결유형의 3가지 차원(변화에 대한 지향, 일처리 방식, 의사결정의 중심)에 대해 각 차원을 구성하는 2가지 유형(혁신-개량, 외적처리-내적처리, 사람중심-과제중심)에 속하는 학생들을 분류하고, 문제해결유형과 성별에 따른 셀프리더십과 통제소재에 차이가 있는지를 알아보기 위해 이원분산분석을 실시했다. 문제해결유형의 주효과는 각 차원별로 다르게 나타났고, 성별의 주효과 및 성별과 문제해결 유형의 상호작용효과는 모든 척도에서 나타나지 않았다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언이 논의되었다.

  • 이 연구의 목적은 공과대학생의 설계 문제에 대한 문제해결 특성을 확인하는 것이다. 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 공과대학생을 대상으로 설계 문제 해결 과정을 심층적으로 분석하고 문제해결 결과에 따라 구분된 효율적인 문제해결자와 비효율적인 문제해결자 간의 문제해결 과정을 비교 분석하였다. 이 연구를 통하여 도출된 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 설계 문제의 해결 과정은 비선형적 형태로 수행되며 개인에 따라 다양한 형태를 보인다. 둘째, 각 단계별 소비 시간의 차이보다 각 단계 수행의 질적 수준에 따라 문제해결 결과에 차이가 발생한다. 셋째, 설계 문제의 해결 과정에서 설계 개요 확인하기 활동과 요구사항 확인하기 활동, 해결 방안 모색하기 활동과 아이디어 모델링하기 활동이 주된 활동이다. 넷째, 설계 문제의 전체 해결 과정에서 만들기 활동이 가장 빈번히 발생하며 가장 많은 시간을 소비하며, 해결 방안 모색하기 활동은 문제해결 결과와 관련성이 있다.

Application of artificial neural networks in the analysis of the continuous contact problem

  • This paper investigates the artificial neural network (ANN) to predict the dimensionless parameters for contact pressures and contact lengths under the rigid punch, the initial separation loads, and the initial separation distances of a contact problem. The problem consisted of two elastic infinitely layers (EL) loaded by means of a rigid cylindrical punch and resting on a half-infinite plane (HP). Firstly, the problem was formulated and solved theoretically using the Theory of Elasticity (ET). Secondly, the contact problem was extended based on the ANN. External load, the radius of punch, layer heights, and material properties were created by giving examples of different values used at the training and test stages of ANN. Finally, the accuracy of the trained neural networks for the case was tested using 134 new data, generated via ET solutions to determine the best network model. ANN results were compared with ET results, and well agreements were achieved.

단일 허브를 이용한 시간 제약이 존재하는 수거 및 배달 차량 경로 문제 (Pick Up and Delivery Vehicle Routing Problem Under Time Window Using Single Hub)

  • After Dantzig and Rasmer introduced Vehicle Routing Problem in 1959, this field has been studied with numerous approaches so far. Classical Vehicle Routing Problem can be described as a problem of multiple number of homogeneous vehicles sharing a same starting node and having their own routes to meet the needs of demand nodes. After satisfying all the needs, they go back to the starting node. In order to apply the real world problem, this problem had been developed with additional constraints and pick up & delivery model is one of them. To enhance the effectiveness of pick up & delivery, hub became a popular concept, which often helps reducing the overall cost and improving the quality of service. Lots of studies have suggested heuristic methods to realize this problem because it often becomes a NP-hard problem. However, because of this characteristic, there are not many studies solving this problem optimally. If the problem can be solved in polynomial time, optimal solution is the best option. Therefore, this study proposes a new mathematical model to solve this problem optimally, verified by a real world problem. The main improvements of this study compared to real world case are firstly, make drivers visit every nodes once except hub, secondly, make drivers visit every nodes at the right time, and thirdly, make drivers start and end their journey at their own homes.

공학설계를 위한 전공연구 교수법 사례연구 (A Case Study of Teaching Method in Research Problem for Engineering Design)

  • The engineering design is very important to make the building of engineering mind in many industry companies because most of companies require commonly the talents for engineering design in order to have originality, reliability and responsibility for university students. But, it can be thought that most of students studying engineering fields in Korea can not have their talents for engineering design in major fields of university sufficiently due to traditional engineering education method. In this paper, a case study of the teaching method for the 'esearch problem' that means capstone design in engineering education is suggested to improve the teaching skills for various engineering based fields. In this paper, a case study of teaching method in research problem for engineering design is shown in order to improve the teaching method for the design in engineering fields.

A Genetic Algorithm Based Approach to the Profitable Tour Problem with Pick-up and Delivery

  • As express courier market expands rapidly, companies are exposed to fierce competition. To cope with struggle for their survival, they are continuously making efforts to improve their service system. Even if most of service centers are directly linked to a consolidation terminal in courier service network, some of them with regional disadvantages are operated in milk run type from/to the consolidation terminal, which is a traditional PDP (Pick-up and Delivery Problem). This study suggests an approach to solve the PDP with the objective of maximizing the incremental profit, which belongs to PTP (Profitable Tour Problem) class. After the PTP is converted to TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) with the same objective, a heuristic algorithm based on GA (Genetic Algorithm) is developed and examined through an example problem in practice of a courier service company in Korea.

공과대학생의 팀워크역량이 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향: 창의적 인성의 매개효과 (Effects of Teamwork Competence on Problem Solving in Engineering Students: Mediating Effect of Creative Personality)

  • This paper deals with the effects of teamwork competence on problem solving ability through the mediating effect of creative personality for the engineering students. For this purpose, a regression-based statistical mediation analysis has been performed for a simple mediation model in which teamwork competence and problem solving ability were treated as independent and dependent variables respectively, and creative personality was included as a mediation variable. The analysis results showed that the teamwork competence has direct effect on the problem solving ability as well as indirect effect through the creative personality. This result implies that the problem solving ability can be improved directly by improving the teamwork competence, and moreover, it can be further improved indirectly or through the mediation effect by improving the creative personality. Thus, in order to develop excellent problem solving ability, it is necessary to form team members in a balanced way between teamwork competence and creative personality in the team-based learning.
