  • Diesel locomotive operates the generator with the power from the diesel engine, and it consists of the typical serial-hybrid system which operates the train wheels by converting its generated electric energy into the torque of DC (or AC) motor. However, the technology of locomotives is only focused on trains' controlling power generation mechanism. Hence, it is a current issue that the efficiency of its engine and its generator is relatively lower than that of auto vehicles'. Particularly, since there are no proper equipment to measure the amount of fuel which is essentially necessary for the efficient use of fuel, it is not easy to confirm the instant amount of fuel use as well as the exact average fuel consumption per an hour. Due to those difficulties, it is urgent to develop the device that measures the fuel consumption. Plus, this use of the developed measuring device allows the various and useful analysis relating to the fuel consumption, and this could lead to establishing the efficient driving pattern regarding to fuel saving. This device consists of two flux (fuel level) measuring censors, MCU for calculating the measured values, the information recorder for saving measured values, and the display device for indicating the fuel amount consumed during driving.

감압 상태 순환유동층 반응기에서 플라즈마 그래프팅에 의한 미세입자 표면 개질 (Surface Modification of Fine Particle by Plasma Grafting in a Circulating Fluidized Bed Reactor under Reduced Pressure)

  • 미세입자의 플라즈마 표면 개질을 감압상태하의 순환유동층 반응기에서 수행하였다. 플라즈마에 의해 처리된 폴리스타이렌 입자는 폴리에틸렌글리콜로 표면에 그래프팅하였다. 표면 개질 전 입자와 플라즈마 처리된 입자 그리고 그래프팅된 입자의 특성은 각각 DPPH 방법, FTIR, SEM 그리고 접촉각 측정으로 분석하였다. 플라즈마 처리된 폴리스타이렌 입자의 표면에 과산화물이 잘 형성되었다. 또한, 폴리에틸렌글리콜의 그래프팅 중합에 의해 플라즈마 처리된 입자 표면에 그래프팅이 잘 분산되었다. 따라서 감압상태의 순환 유동층 반응기에서 플라즈마 처리에 의한 PEG-g-PS 입자를 성공적으로 형성할 수 있었다.

  • 최근 유 무선 통신을 이용하여 원격으로 기기의 상태나 센서 등의 입력장치를 모니터링하거나 출력장치를 제어하기 위한 여러 가지 많은 시도가 있었으며 이에 대한 연구 및 개발도 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 다수의 세대를 가지고 있는 아파트의 관리사무소와 세대 사이에 전용 통신망을 개설하여 세대에서 사용하는 전력의 사용량을 입주자가 부재시에도 원격으로 전력 사용량을 검침하고 컴퓨터로 에너지 사용량을 정확하게 검침함으로서 검침요원의 수동검침으로 인한 오류를 없애 입주자와 관리자간의 신뢰성을 확보할 수 있는 모니터링 시스템을 개발한다.

  • Knowledge of ground thermal properties is most important for the proper design of BHE(borehole heat exchanger) systems. The configure type, pipe size and thermal performance of the BHE is highly dependent on the ground source heatpump system-efficiency and instruction cost. Thermal response tests with mobile measurement devices were developed primarily for in-situ determination of design data for Standing Column Well apply. The main purpose has been to determine in-situ values of effective ground thermal conductivity and thermal resistance, including the effect of ground-water flow and natural convection in the boreholes. The test rig is set up on a some trailer, and contains a sub-circulation pump, a boiler, temperature sensors, flow meter and a data logger for recording the temperature and circulation fluid flow data. A constant heating power is injected into the SCW through the test rig and the resulting temperature change in the SCW is recorded. The recorded temperature data are analysed with a line-source model, which gives the effective in-situ values of rock thermal conductivity and thermal resistance of SCW.

  • Recently, many efforts to solve the durability problem of PEM fuel cell are carried on constantly. However, despite this attention, durability researches of gas diffusion layer (GDL) are not much reported yet. Generally, GDL of PEM fuel cell experiences three external attacks, which are dissolution of water, erosion of gas flow, corrosion of electric potential. In this study, among these degradation factors, carbon corrosion of electric potential was focused and investigated with accelerated carbon corrosion test. Through the test, it is confirmed that carbon corrosion occurred at GDL, and corroded GDL decreased a performance of operating fuel cell. The property changes of GDL were measured with various methods such as air permeability meter, pore distribution analyzer, thermo gravimetric analyzer, and tensile stress test to discover the effects of carbon corrosion. Carbon corrosion caused not only loss of weight and thickness, but also degradation of mechanical strength of GDL. In addition, to analysis the reason of GDL property changes, a surface and a cross section of GDL were observed with scanning electron microscope. After 100 hours test, the GDL showed serious damage in center of layer.

공연비 변화가 바이오에탄올 연료 스파크 점화기관의 연소 및 배출물 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Air-fuel Ratio on Combustion and Emission Characteristics in a Spark Ignition Engine Fueled with Bio-ethanol)

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of air-fuel ratio on the combustion and emissions characteristics of spark ignition (SI) gasoline engine fueled with bio-ethanol. A 1.6L SI engine with 4 cylinders was tested on EC dynamometer. In addition, lambda sensor and lambda meter were connected with universal ECU to control the lambda value which is varied from 0.7 to 1.3. The engine performance and combustion characteristics of bio-ethanol fuel were compared to those obtained by pure gasoline. Furthermore, the exhaust emissions such as carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbon (HC), oxides of nitrogen ($NO_X$) and carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) were measured by emission analyzers. The results showed that the brake torque and cylinder pressure of bio-ethanol fuel were slightly higher than those of gasoline fuel. Brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) of bio-ethanol was increased while brake specific energy consumption (BSEC) was decreased. The exhaust emissions of bio-ethanol fuel were lower than those of gasoline fuel under overall experimental conditions. However, the specific emission characteristics of the engine with bio-ethanol fuel were influenced by air-fuel ratio.

  • 일반 수용가를 대상으로 한 효율적인 수요관리의 한 방법으로써 Dynamically-Administered Critical Peak Pricing[1] 요금제를 이용하여 일반 수용가 대상 수요관리를 스마트 미터기인 Smart Cabinet Panel(SCP)를 개발하여 적용하였다. 이 DA-CPP 요금제에는 핵심이 되는 최적 critical peak 시점을 푸는 하위 문제들 및 방법론들이 존재하는데, 우리는 energy service provider(ESP)가 관리해야 할 수용가의 수가 매우 많다는 점에 주목하여, 각 수용가의 1일 부하 사용량 패턴을 몇 개의 그룹으로 나누어 각 그룹에 대해 critical peak 최적 시점을 결정하는 연구를 수행하였다. 이러한 수용가 부하량 패턴그룹화를 위해 인공 지능의 여러 기법 중 하나인 self-organizing map(SOM)을 사용하였다 그리고 ESP와 수음가가 통신할 수 있도록 개발된 SCP를 통해 Critical Peak을 적용하였다.

온도 영역에 대한 선형 액추에이터의 실험적 고찰과 유한차분 방정식 (An Experimental Approach to the Linear Actuator with a Finite Difference Equation on the Temperature Domain)

  • 본 논문에서는 선형 액추에이터의 권선부에 구형파 전압을 인가시 권선부의 표면에 나타나는 온도의 변화에 대해서 고찰하였다. 또한 테일러급수로부터 구할 수 있는 유한차분 방정식을 유도하였고, 이를 바탕으로 직선형 피스톤 액추에이터의 권선에서 일어나는 온도 변화에 대한결과를 고찰하였다. 그 결과 액추에이터 표면의 온도가 주위온도에 비해 시간에 따라 증가하는 에너지 표출 현상을 확인하였으며 이를 바탕으로 선형 액추에이터의 동작시 온도 특성을 실제 시스템에 고려하여 적용할 수 있는 실험적 자료를 도출할 수 있었다. 이에 관한 결과는 액추에이터 뿐만 아니라 권선을 사용하는 전동기나 변압기와 같은 전기기기와 전자기력을 이용하는 분야에 참고자료로 활용될 수 있으리라 사료되며, 앞으로는 여러 조건 하에서 권선의 내부와 외부에서 일어나는 온도 및 동작 특성의 정밀한 해석 결과를 구하기 위해 좀더 구체적인 계산 방범과 개선이 필요하다.

낮은 핀 관의 응축 열전달 성능에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Condensation Heat Transfer of Low Integral Fin Tubes)

  • The heat transfer performance of R - 11 vapor condensing on integral fin tubes has been studied using fin tubes having the fin density from 748 to 1654 fins per meter. Electric heater supplied heat energy to the boiler to generate R - 11 vapor over the range of 25-60W. Condensation rates of each tubes were tested under the condition of cooling water flow rate from 400l/h to 2500l/h. For the seven fin tubes tested, the best performance has been obtained with a tube having a fin density of 1417fpm and a fin height of 1.3mm. This tube has yielded a maximum value of the heat transfer coefficient of 16500W/$m_2$K, at a vapor to wall temperature difference of 3K. Experimental results of integral fin tubes have been compared with available predictive models such as Beatty - Katz's analysis, Webb's analysis, Sukhatme's analysis and Rudy's empirical relation. The experimental results were shown to be in good agreement with that of the Sukhatme's analysis.

Optimal location planning to install wind turbines for hydrogen production: A case study

  • This study aims to evaluate and prioritize ten different sites in Iran's Khorasan provinces for the construction of wind farm. After studying the geography of the sites, nine criteria; including wind power, topography, wind direction, population, distance from power grid, level of air pollution, land cost per square meter, rate of natural disasters, and distance from road network-are selected for the analysis. Prioritization is performed using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The developed DEA model is validated through value engineering based on the results of brainstorming sessions. The results show that the order of priority of ten assessed candidate sites for installing wind turbines is Khaf, Afriz, Ghadamgah, Fadashk, Sarakhs, Bojnoord, Nehbandan, Esfarayen, Davarzan, and Roudab. Additionally, the outcomes extracted from the value engineering method identify the city of Khaf as the best candidate site. Six different wind turbines (7.5 to 5,000 kW) are considered in this location to generate electricity. Regarding an approach to produce and store hydrogen from wind farm installed in the location, the AREVA M5000 wind turbine can produce approximately $337ton-H_2$ over a year. It is an enormous amount that can be used in transportation and other industries.
