  • We have fabricated LB ultra-thin films of maleate system by LB technique and evaluated the deposited status of LB ultra-thin films by I-V characteristics such as capacitance. It was found that the thickness of LB ultra-thin per layer is $27~30[{\AA}]$ by XRD. And, we have known that the conductivity along the horizontal direction of LB ultra-thin films was about $10^{-8}[S/cm]$, it corresponds to the semiconducting materials. Also, the I-V characteristics along the vertical direction of LB ultra-thin films was dominated by Schottky type current, the activation energy obtained by current-temperature characteristics was about 0.84[eV] and the conductivity was about $10^{-14}[S/cm]$, it corresponds to the insulator. And, the anisotropic conduction mechanism of the LB ultra-thin films in vertical direction and horizontal direction is determined by the hydrophilic group and the hydrophobic group in LB ultra-thin films. The above results are applicable to the semiconductor devices such as switching device, which function at the molecular level.

  • With regard to the new town developments which have supplied lots of houses in a short period of time in Korea this study aims to evaluation and finding out problems of the developments finally to suggest the direction. A new town's competitiveness model set in the previous paper takes a role of research frame to recognize the problems and to show the direction. The model explains that new town's competitiveness is composed of 4 factors; Self-sufficiency, Innovativenss, Identity and Sustainability. Problems of the developments are as follows; incongruity of spatial structure especially in the capital region, deficiency of self-sufficiency resulted from single-use development, restriction on mixed development by a number of regulations in capital region, low business value, grand scale of land compensation, house oriented planning guidance, unfair share of infrastructure fee, and physical structure depending mainly on fossil energy. Based on this recognition this study conclusively suggests corresponding direction such as role performance as a means of urban growth management, promotion of quality of life by accumulating social capital, introduction of socially sustainable management program for the new towns, discovery and creation of town's value, reexamination of self-sufficiency's meaning or target, selective deregulation of metropolitan development, institutional strategy for cost reduction, changeover from house index to urban function oriented index, and pursuit of low-carbon green town.

  • In this paper, the effect of wrinkling on the cut propagation direction of thin membrane was studied using geometrically nonlinear shell element post-buckling analysis. In the analysis, rectangular tensile membrane configuration with a slanted center cut was considered. The cut propagation direction was predicted by maximum energy release rate method, $K_{II}$-zero method, and maximum tangential stress method. The cut propagation angle and the $J$-integral values were calculated for the wrinkled and unwrinkled cases and the results were compared. Various initial cut orientation angles were considered and the effect on the propagation direction was studied. The cut propagation paths were also predicted by virtual cut extension approach.

  • Most diagnosis methods for servo valves requires installing spool displacement sensor or flow sensor as well as pressure sensor. The measurement of flow is hard to implement and many kinds of servovalves or proportional direction valves do not have a built-in spool displacement sensor. In this study, static performances of servovalve or proportional-direction-valve are studied theoretically and a diagnosis technique, which uses only load pressure and input current signal, is assessed. An experimental setup was made based upon a personal computer and the LabVIEW graphical language. A series of diagnosis tests were performed and the analysis results showed it possible to measure the pressure gain, hysteresis and null bias in a relatively simple methodology.

  • Effects of Nb(Niobium) contents and solution annealing on the strength and fatigue life of 18%Ni maraging steel commonly using in aircraft, space field, nuclear energy, and vehicle etc. were investigated. Also the fatigue life stress intensity factor were compared experiment result and FEA(finite element analysis) result. The more Nb content, the higher or the lower fatigue life on base metal specimens or solution annealed specimens showing that the fatigue lift was almost the same. The maximum stresses of X, Y, and Z axis direction showed about $2.12{\times}10^2MPa,\;4.40{\times}10^2MPa\;and\;1.32{\times}10^2MPa$ respectively. The Y direction stress showed the highest because of the same direction as the loading direction. The fatigue lives showed about 7% lower FEA result than experiment result showing almost invariable error every analyzed cycle. Stress intensity factor of the FEA result was lower about $3.5{\sim}10%$ than that of the experiment result showing that the longer fatigue crack length the higher error. It considered that the cause for the difference was the modeled crack tip having always the same shape and condition regardless of the crack growth.

  • Creep damage is one of the mosl important characteristics for the stability of high temperature structures such as huge energy converting facilities. Creep failure of Type 316LN stainless steel is highly correlated to generation and growth of the voids. In this paper, in order to investigate the correlation of creep rupture time and ultrasonic parameters (group velocity, angular velocity), creep-damaged Type 316LN specimens and measurements for the ultrasonic parameters were made. However, bi-directional measurements were applied along the load direction and the perpendicular direction to the load line by means of the contact type probe of which the central frequencies are 10MHz, 15MHz and 20MHz. Analyzing the angular velocities of the ultrasonic signals obtained from the load direction, it was confirmed that the angular velocities were declined as the creep time passed when 15MHz and 20MHz probes were used. Also, the group velocities were declined for all three frequencies as the creep time increased. Thus, positive feasibility for the creep damage evaluation by means of the angular and group velocities was confirmed. Moreover, result of analysis for the ultrasonic signal which was obtained from the perpendicular direction upon the angular and group velocities indicated little variation for both of the angular and group velocities. Therefore, the creep damage is likely to represent anisotropic itself.

  • In this paper, we propose a sink-location management and data-routing scheme to effectively support the mobile sink in solar-powered WSN. Battery-based wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have a limited lifetime due to their limited energy, but solar energy-based WSNs can be supplied with energy periodically and can operate forever. On the other hand, introduction of mobile sink in WSNs can solve some energy unbalance problem between sink-neighboring nodes and outer nodes which is one of the major challenges in WSNs. However, there is a problem that additional energy should be consumed to notify each sensor node of the location of the randomly moving mobile sink. In the proposed scheme, one of the nodes that harvests enough energy in each cluster are selected as the cluster head, and the location information of the mobile sink is shared only among the cluster heads, thereby reducing the location management overhead. In addition, the overhead for setting the routing path can be removed by transferring data in the opposite direction to the path where the sink-position information is transferred among the heads. Lastly, the access node is introduced to transmit data to the sink more reliably when the sink moves frequently.

  • The piezoelectric energy harvester is recently being developed and catching on as a way to achieve low carbon green growth. The practical application of the piezoelectric energy harvester is expected to contribute not only to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions but also to the improvement of residents' welfare. This paper conducted a cost-benefit analysis for the installation of piezoelectric energy harvester on the highway focusing on its impacts on the public. The results showed that the installation of piezoelectric energy harvester on the gyeongbu highway is economically feasible in that it could increase the social welfare for the residents. Finally, this paper suggests policy direction for the practical use of the piezoelectric energy harvester, based on the results obtained.
