Endoscope system is the device that observe interior the body. It has some demerits because it use of optical fibers. The resolution of images depends on the number of optical fibers, it is impossible that several people observe at the same time and it needs special camera in order to record images. In order to overcome these demerits, electro endoscope system using CCD(Charge Coupled Device) has been developed recently. If the diameter of insertion tube is thinner, it is easier to be examined by thin endoscope system. At the present time, we develope these type of electro endoscope system in the department of SNU biomedical engineering. Moreover, we are researching an algorithm of the 3D-reconstruction of interior of the gaster. In this paper, a method for 3D information detection using electroendoscopic image sequence has been presented.
Ultra-wide-angle wireless endoscopes are demonstrated in this paper. The endoscope is composed of an ultra-wide-angle camera module and wireless transmission module. A lens unit with the ultra-wide FOV of 162 degrees is designed and manufactured. The lens, image sensor, and camera processor unit are packaged together in a $3{\times}3{\times}9-cm3$ case. The wireless transmission modules are implemented based on UWB- and WiFi-based platform, respectively. The UWB-based module can transmit HD video to a computer in resolution of $2048{\times}1536$ (QXGA) and the frame rate of 15 fps in MJPEG compression mode. The maximum data transfer rate reaches 41.2 Mbps. The FOV and the resolution of the endoscope is comparable to a medical-grade endoscope. The FOV and resolution is ~3X and 16X higher than that of a commercial high-performance WiFi endoscope, respectively. The WiFi-based module streams out video to a smart device with th maximum date transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps at the resolution of $640{\times}480$ (VGA) and the frame rate of 30 fps in MJPEG compression mode. The implemented components show the feasibility of cheap medical-grade wireless electronic endoscopes, which can be effectively used in u-healthcare, emergency treatment, home-healthcare, remote diagnosis, etc.

A wireless capsule endoscope has been developed to replace the conventional endoscope. However, the commercialized capsule endoscope moves passively by peristaltic waves, which has some limitations for doctors to diagnose more thoroughly and actively. In order to solve this problem, a locomotive mechanism is proposed for wireless capsule endoscopes. Based on the tests of various actuators, a piezo actuator is selected as a micro actuator for capsule endoscope. In general, piezo actuators are known to have limited displacement with high voltage supply. In order to overcome the limitation of common piezo actuator, the impact based piezo actuator, is developed to realize long stroke up 11mm. By using the impact based piezo actuator, a prototype of an earthworm-like locomotive mechanism was developed. In addition, the proposed locomotive mechanism has engraved clamps mimicked the claw of an insect. The earthworm-like locomotive mechanism has 15 mm in diameter and 30mm under retraction stage and 41 mm under elongation stage in total length. Hollow space is allocated to comprise essential endoscope components such as a camera, a communication module, bio sensors, and a battery. For the feasibility test of proposed locomotive mechanism, a series of experiments were carried out including in-vitro tests. Based on results of the experiments, we conclude that the proposed locomotive mechanism is effective to be used for micro capsule endoscopes.

Newly commercialized wireless capsule endoscope has many advantages compared to conventional push-type endoscopes. However, it is moved by the peristaltic waves. Therefore, it can not diagnose desired zones actively. In this paper, a locomotive mechanism for wireless capsule endoscope is proposed to increase the efficiency of endoscopy. We designed and fabricated a prototype using SMA springs and bio-mimetic clamping device. The hollow space in the prototype is allocated for further system integration of a camera module, a RF module and a battery. And the sequential control scheme is employed to improve the efficiency of its locomotion. To validate the performance of the locomotive mechanism, experiments on a silicone rubber pad and in vitro tests are carried out. The results of the experiments indicate that proposed mechanism is effective in harsh environments such as digestive organs of a human.

With the development of recent IT fusion technology, IT fusion technology of medical equipment has been dramatically development. The need to most basic preferential implementation of emergency is the respiration of the patient, it is necessary to first aid is maintained in emergency patients airway simultaneously. However, to the endotracheal intubation is a procedure to secure the airway, it requires experience and first aid, Inc. good career, very that may lead to sequelae in patients who otherwise have failed to procedures It is a sensitive and important procedure. For these reasons, the success rate of current endotracheal intubation technique is not at a high level and about 50 percent. In an attempt to complement these problems, in this paper, in the process of endotracheal intubation, intubated by inserting an endoscopic camera to Into Activation tube, the streaming is a real-time monitoring and wireless video transmission method using, there is a purpose of enabling the monitoring in smart devices increase the success rate of endotracheal intubation of first aid purchases.
Tri-stimulus values of CIE-XYZ and RGB values obtained by photographic film, CCD camera or scanner depend on the spectral sensitivity of imaging devices and the spectral radiant distribution of the illumination. It is important to record and reproduce the reflectance spectra of the object for true device independent color reproduction and high accurate recording of the scene. In this paper, a method to record the reflection spectra of the object is introduced and its application to spectral endoscopes is presented.
This paper describes a depth extraction algorithm in the stereo endoscopic images using adaptive window. First, The relation between the 3D coordinates in the world and the 2D coordinates in the image plane is estimated using camera calibration. Next, stereo matching is performed to find the conjugate pairs in the left and right images. To improve the precision of the matching result, adaptive window which can be varied on the shape as well as on the size according to the area characteristics is used. Finally, the result from the stereo matching and that of camera modeling are combined to extract the real depth information.

Recently, Capsule Endoscope(CE) system is receiving great attention as a innovative convergence technology that allows doctors to examine the digestive tract of a human body in the minimum invasive way. Once patients swallow the vitamin pill-sized capsule, doctors can detect disease such as blood-based abnormalities, polyps, ulcers, and Crohn's disease through the image information delivered by wireless or human body communication module in CE. Although CE is really a innovative technology, it still suffers from some drawbacks in terms of correct diagnosis of lesion and analysis required time. Due to the massive images approximately 60~120 thousand frames taken by miniature camera in the CE, doctors spend too much time examining the images and analyzing the lesions. Therefore, to lighten the burden of doctors, software tools for fast diagnosis and medical image processing techniques for correct diagnosis of lesion are essential in CE system. In this paper, we investigate the latest trends of diagnosis tools and image processing techniques based on major makers of CE systems, which are hardly known to the general public.

This study is concerned with image information management system for small scale hospital. We intended to developing image management system which is used of the existing analog devices such as medical camera, supersonic analyser, endoscope etc. We developed a video in interface board based USB 2.0 for handling image in real time. It is capable of transmitting image input signal like as NTSC, PAL to personal computer through USB 2.0. The developed the board of 40 speeds compared with the exiting system based USB 1.0. Especially the developed system is very helpful for small hospital like as dental clinic, because it is easy and convenient to manage image information without expert. So it will provide reduction of time and cost for handling image information(collecting, saving, retrieval, transmitting image).
For diagnoses of digestive organs, capsule endoscopes are widely used and offer valuable information without patient's discomfort. A general capsule endoscope which consists of image sensing module, telemetry module and battery is able to move along gastro-intestinal tracts passively only through peristaltic waves. Thus, it is likely to have some limitations for doctor to acquire images from the desired organs and to diagnose them effectively. As solutions to these problems, a locomotive function of capsule endoscopes has being developed. We have proposed a capsule-type microrobot with synchronized multiple legs. However, the proposed capsular microrobot also has some limitations, such as low speed in advancement, inconvenience to controlling the microrobot, lack of an image module, and deficiency in a steering module. In this paper, we will describe the limitations of the locomotive microrobot and propose solutions to the drawbacks. The solutions are applied to the capsular microrobot and evaluated by in-vitro tests. Based on the experimental results, we conclude that the proposed solutions are effective and appropriate for the locomotive microrobot to explore inside intestinal tracts.
