  • This paper describes a crashworthy design for the front structure of KHST (Korean High Speed Train) under the SNCF accident scenario (collision against a movable rigid mass of IS tons at 110 km/h). The front structure designed in a new concept shows good behaviours in crashworthy point of view. It collapses in a progressive and well-controlled fashion. To evaluate the design by considering real situations, the power-car is simulated for accidents collided against a dump truck of 15 tons at 110 km/h. The front end structure of it shows a good response on crashworthiness.

  • Every one experiences death one day, however no one can hows exactly what it is because people can not experience death until it comes, it is therefore impossible to judge correctly on the phenomenon of the death. On the whole, man experiences indirect death through the mass communications such as TV drama, fiction, magazine etc because those methods can easily access by every one. In addition to this, people usually acquire the negative awareness of death through the dramatic change of story like dying of cancer for dramatic effect by giving scare and fear to the cancers. The purpose of this study is to provide basic information on the spiritual care that enables the facing death patients to accept death as a part of life and divert hope from scare about after death by comparing and analyzing of two aspects of death meaning i.e, Korean fiction and the end stage cancer patients. Additionally, for medical staff to understand the facing death cancer patients by making to aware patients correctly and provide the better quality of care. The study was performed from September 28, 2002 to February, 28, 2003. The materials of this study were collected by direct data obtained from observation, interviews, note and diary of end stage of cancer patients and written materials acquired from Korean contemporary fiction. Participants of this study were 4 end stage cancer patients including 2 lung cancer patients, 1 liver cancer patient and 1 esophagus cancer patient. The methodology used in this study was divided into two types; Huberman & Miles methodology was used for fiction to find and categorize subject, and Colaizzi, one of phenomenological methodology was used for end stage cancer patients to find the major meaning, subject and categorization. • Structural design of the torsion beam rear suspension is investigated by calculating warping of the torsion beam. Since the longitudinal displacement in the cross section of the torsion beam due to torsional moment causes normal stress across the beam restrained from outside at both ends, the profile of torsion beam needs to be designed considering the warping. Warping function of the beam is derived with the parameters of cross section fur the arbitrary shapes of torsion beam profiles assuming thin-walled open section. From comparing the warping calculated for two different beam profiles, the design method for the torsion beam in the view point of low stress is discussed. It is shown that the gusset used to reinforce the torsion beam can be optimized in accordance with warping shape. The method to fix the end point of the gusset is proposed to minimize the stress concentrated on the end point of the gusset produced during torsional moment. The result from finite element analysis shows the stress is minimized when the height of gusset end point is coincident with the point where warping of the beam is minimized.

  • The widely used spot welded section members of vehicles are structures which absorb most of the energy in a front-end collision. In front-end collision, sufficiently absorbed in the front parts, the impact energy does not reach the passengers. Simultaneously, the frame gets less damaged. This structures have to be very stiff, but collapse progressively to absorb the kinetic energy as expected. In the view of stiffness, the double-hat shaped section member is stiffer than the hat shaped section member. In progress of collapse, the hat shaped section member is collapsing progressively, but the double-hat shaped section member does not due to stiffness. An analysis on the hat shaped section member was previously completed. This paper concerns the collapse characteristic of the double-hat shaped section member. In the program system presented in this study, an explicit finite element code, LS-DYNA3D is adopted for simulating complicate collapse behavior of double hat shaped section members with respect to spot weld pitches. And comparing with the results from the quasi-static and impact experiment, the simulation has been verified.

  • A numerical analysis was conducted to predict the heat transfer characteristics of a high-temperature, high heat flux solar receiver as the end-wall angle varied. The concentration ratio of the solar receiver ranges from 200 to 1000 and the concentrated heat is required to be transported to a certain distance for specific applications. This study deals with a solar receiver incorporating high-temperature sodium heat pipe as well as a typical one that employs a molten-salt circulation loop with the same outer dimensions. The isothermal characteristics in the receiver section is of major concern. The diameter of the solar thermal receiver was 120 mm and the length was 400 mm. FLUENT, a commercial software, was employed to deal with the radiative heat transfer inside the receiver cavity and the convection heat transfer along the channels and heat pipes. The numerical results were compared and analyzed from the view point of heat transfer characteristics the solar receiver system.

  • The mobile-phone which Camera was put on was released at the end of 2000 and dramatically puts up the deployment ratio because not only simple Camera but also a function that the photograph which I took is dispatched was added. It is the force that demand in this year presses 600,000,000 sale of a mobile-phone is estimated to be 960,000,000 of them in 2006, and to be able to include two errands with a support model after 3G. A person of entry to a camera-module appear much. In addition, the various kinds of products open markedly which a product comes to be known widely in the world, and the application range has opened widely, and considered QCDT come to be key issues for answer to market demand. By manufacturing industry, there is peculiar culture to each industry, camera-module is the composition the various industries. The construction of true Supply-chain becomes unavoidable to make a good product. I describe the point that the situation of each supply-chain and the direction for the future by the view point of module assembly maker.

  • The problem of establishing the servo system to reach the desired location keeping all features in the field of view and following a straight line is considered. In addition, robustness of camera calibration parameters is considered in this paper. The proposed approach is based on switching from position-based visual servoing (PBVS) to image-based visual servoing (IBVS) and allows the camera path to follow a straight line. To achieve the objective, a pose estimation method is required; the camera's target pose is estimated from the obtained images without the knowledge of the object. A switched control law moves the camera equipped to a robot end-effector near the desired location following a straight line in Cartesian space and then positions it to the desired pose with robustness to camera calibration error. Finally simulation results show the feasibility of the proposed visual servoing technique.

  • This paper presents a RFM-based image matching algorithm which put constraints on the search space through the object-space approach. Also, the detail procedure of generating 3-D surface models from the RFM is introduced as an end-user point of view. The proposed algorithm provides the PML (Piecewise Matching Line) for image matching and reduces the search space to within the confined line-shape area.

  • A weakly viscous wave and an approximate variational principle in viscous fluids are introduced, with which we can interpret the fundamentals such as how viscosity dissipation occurs with time elapse, and how the free surface boundary layer exists at the wavy surface in weakly viscous fluids. As an application, responses of a spherical buoy on the weakly viscous capillary gravity wave are investigated to show the viscosity effects. At the end, surfactant problems are briefly reviewed with the view of short viscous waves as expected future applications.
