A new kind of silicone-epoxy composite is reported in this research. The silicone-epoxy resin was synthesized by the hydrosilylation of tetramethycyclotetrasiloxane and 4-vinyl-1-cyclohexene 1,2-epoxy with a high reaction yield. It was found that the obtained silicone-epoxy resin shows a high reactive activity to the aluminum complex-silanol catalyst. The resin could be cured under the catalysis of $(Al(acac)_3/Ph_2Si(OH)_2$ at a concentration below 0.1 wt% to give a hard cured resin showing excellent optical clarity, UV resistance and thermal stability. It was also found that the Si-H groups facilitated the curing reaction and the silicone-epoxy resin bearing Si-H group could be cured effectively even if $Ph_2Si(OH)_2h$ was absent. Moreover, the UV resistance and thermal stability were improved significantly by the introduction of Si-H groups. This is possibly due to the reductive property of Si-H groups which can annihilate radical and peroxide effectively. This kind of silicone-containing epoxy composite might have very promising applications as optical resin, optical adhesive and encapsulation materials for electronic devices.

Anthocyanins has a strong antioxidant capacity but exhibit poor stability in water. Therefore, stability of anthocyanin from purple potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) was encapsulated by the application of food polymers. Solid formulation of purple potato was prepared using whey protein, tapioca and lecithin by capillary rheometer at $80^{\circ}C$. The ratio of the polymer and potato powder was 2:8. Total phenolic compound, total flavonoid, total anthocyanin and antioxidant activity was investigated by the spectrophotometer. Result revealed that total phenolic compound (TP) ($5321{\mu}g/100g$), total flavonoid (TF) ($1352{\mu}g/100g$) total anthocyanin (TA) ($764{\mu}g/100g$) and free radical antioxidant activity (DPPH) (86%) was higher in 0.01 M acetic acid mediated lecithin based formulation compared to control (Potato powder) (TP: $1357{\mu}g/100g$; TF) ($634{\mu}g/100g$, TA) ($264{\mu}g/100g\;DPPH$) (64%). Lecithin is a strong emulsifier having capacity to extract bioactive compound and encapsulate extracted compound by nonpolar tail and negatively charged head. Therefore, it would be concluded that lecithin might be used as an encapsulating agent for the bioactive compound from purple potato.

Pressure to reduce costs in the current solar market is driving the development and implementation of new module designs and prompting the use of new materials and components. In order to utilize the variability of each material that makes up the module, it is essential to understand the basic characteristics of the material. In this article, we evaluate light degradation after UV irradiation as an encapsulation material. Measure and analyze the results of various characteristic tests for discoloration, optical and electrical property degradation before and after UV accelerated testing. To evaluate weathering stability, UV tests were performed comparing existing EVA and UVT-EVA, POE and improved low-cost POE. Even in the weather resistance test with a total UV exposure of 60 kW/m2, the properties of the encapsulants were mostly stable. EVA and POE-based encapsulants showed slight differences, and these slight differences are believed to pose a threat to long-term stability. This study is a basic analysis of encapsulation research for PV modules and will be helpful in understanding future development and encapsulant properties.

One of the critical issues for applications of flexible organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) for flexible electronic systems is the electrical stabilities of the OTFT devices, including variation of the current on/off ratio (Ion/Ioff), leakage current, threshold voltage, and hysteresis under repetitive mechanical deformation. In particular, repetitive mechanical deformation accelerates the degradation of device performance at the ambient environment. In this work, electrical stability of the pentacene organic thin film transistors (OTFTs) employing multi-stack hybrid encapsulation layers was investigated under mechanical cyclic bending. Flexible bottom-gated pentacene-based OTFTs fabricated on flexible polyimide substrate with poly-4-vinyl phenol (PVP) dielectric as a gate dielectric were encapsulated by the plasma-deposited organic layer and atomic-layer-deposited inorganic layer. For cyclic bending experiment of flexible OTFTs, the devices were cyclically bent up to 105 times with 5mm bending radius. In the most of the devices after 105 times of bending cycles, the off-current of the OTFT with no encapsulation layers was quickly increased due to increases in the conductivity of the pentacene caused by doping effects from $O_2$ and $H_2O$ in the atmosphere, which leads to decrease in the Ion/Ioff and increase in the hysteresis. With encapsulation layers, however, the electrical stabilities of the OTFTs were improved significantly. In particular, the OTFTs with multi-stack hybrid encapsulation layer showed the best electrical stabilities up to the bending cycles of $10^5$ times compared to the devices with single organic encapsulation layer. Changes in electrical properties of cyclically bent OTFTs with encapsulation layers will be discussed in detail.

Transparent film heaters employing silver nanowires (Ag NWs) have attracted increasing attention because of their widespread applications. However, the low thermal resistance of Ag NWs limits the maximum operating temperature of the Ag NW film heater. In this study, Ag NW film heaters with high mechanical and thermal stability were successfully developed. The thermal power-out characteristics of the Ag NW heaters were investigated as a function of the Ag NW density. The results revealed that the prepared flexible Ag NW heater possessed high thermal stability over $190^{\circ}C$ owing to ZnO encapsulation. This indicates that the Ag NW film with excellent thermal stability have remarkably high potential for use as electrodes in film heaters operating at high temperatures.

Chitosan/alginate capsules were formed by electrostatic interactions and had appropriated mechanical strength, permeability to albumin, and stability to hepatocytes. Rat hepatocytes were isolated and immobilized in chitosan/alginate capsules. During the encapsulation process with hepatocyte, 10% of viability was decreased mainly due to the low pH of the chitosan solution. Among various capsule fabrication methods, the chitosan-alginate capsule showed the highest mechanical strength. Addition of collagen in the capsule with hepatocytes enhanced hepatic metabolism as well as the cell viability for 2 weeks of culture. The hepatocyte in the capsule without collagen decreased the viability to 10% for 2-week cultures.

An ion sensitive field effect transistor employing a special HCI heat treatment for the gate oxide layer along with tungsten metallization and multilayer encapsulation using fumed silica epoxy mixture was fabricated and its performance characteristics have been investigated. A theoretical model for the device operation is discussed, and it is shown that the experimental results are in good agreement with the theory. The fabricated device has excellent performance characteristics showing the fast response, long operation-life, small pH hysteresis, high sensitivity, etc. Especially, its stability has been greatly improved.
Plasmids, YEp13 and pMA56, were encapsulated Into liposomes by two different procedures during which the plasmid DNAs were exposed ether to 6$0^{\circ}C$ for 1.5 hr or to sonication for 2-5 min at 4$^{\circ}C$. The encapsulated plasmids were then reextracted and their physical conformations and transformation abilities were examined. It was confirmed from the results that both plasmid DNAs were remained stable throughout the procedures of encapsulation into 1iposomes.
Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) molecule has been successfully encapsulated in biocompatible inorganic matrix in order for the cosmetic application such as superfacial fine line reduction. The encapsulation was realized through chemical reaction involving simultaneous formation of inorganic lattice and 1M giving rise to an 1M-inorganic nanohybrid (IAA-brid) which shows excellent storage stability and sustained releasing property of indole-3-acetic acid. The clinical efficacy of essence cream containing IAA-brid as anti-wrinkle formulation was also carefully evaluated by measuring the roughness of the skin replica before and after treatment. Upon administration of the cream on the eye-area, the fine-line is drastically reduced.
