Family Life Satisfaction and Home Management Behavior Patterns: For Urban housewives (도시주부의 가정관리행동유형과 가정생활만족)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze urban housewives' home management behavioral patterns focusing on the morphostatic and morphogenic in continuum, to estimate the level of their family life satisfaction and to determine the variables affecting family life satisfaction. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows: 1. The tendency is that the wives have controlled in value orientation, and home management behavioral patterns are neutral, and they are somewhat satisfied in terms of family life satisfaction. 2. As for the causal variables, marriage duration, the number of children education, employment status of wives, and value orientation influence on home management behavioural patterns. 3. The variables which affect family life satisfaction significantly are number of children, wives' education level, family income, employment status of wives and value orientation. 4. In analyzing relation between wives' home management behavioual patterns and their family life satisfaction, those who prefer morphostatic patterns have higer level of life satisfaction. 5. From the path analysis, it was found that monthly family income, employment status of wives, wives' educationn level, and value orientation had positive effects on family life satisfaction, and home management behavioral patterns had negative effects on family life satisfaction.

The Effect of Social Support of the New-middle Aged Job Seekers on Life Satisfaction - Mediating Effect of Re-employment Desire (신중년 구직자의 사회적 지지가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향 - 재취업욕구의 매개효과)

  • This study analyzed the relationship between the social support and life satisfaction of the new-middle aged job seekers, and the mediating effect of re-employment desire. Firstly, the relationship between social support and life satisfaction were significant, therefore it confirmed social support should be expanded to improve new-middle aged life satisfaction. Secondly, the desire for social status, self-realization and leisure utilization were significantly influenced in the relationship between the desire for re-employment and life satisfaction. Thirdly, the re-employment desire had a partial mediating effect in the relationship between social support and life satisfaction. These results suggest that it is important to establish a social network for emotional support continuously after retirement, in addition to career planning for re-employment in the process of preparing for retirement, in order to increase the level of life satisfaction of the new-middle age.

  • The purpose of the study was to examine the structural relationship among job satisfaction, economic condition satisfaction, change of self-worth and quality of life of Elderly Employment Program participants. An analysis was conducted on the data of the '2012 Elderly Employment Program Participants Survey'. The major findings were as follows. The job satisfaction, economic condition satisfaction, change of self-worth had positive effects to quality of life. The job satisfaction had mediator effect to quality of life through economic condition satisfaction and change of self-worth. Also, change of self-worth had indirect effect between economic condition satisfaction and quality of life. Based on the results, the implications for Elderly Employment Program practice and policy were suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of educational satisfaction on project effectiveness, and the mediating effect of participation satisfaction between educational satisfaction and project effectiveness of employment promotion project for the elderly. The data were Research of the aged joining employment promotion project for the elderly made by Korea Labor Force Development Institute for the Aged in 2010 and the total subject was 1220. Descriptive analysis, correlations analysis, and the multiple regression analysis for research model test were used. Additionally, Sobel test was used to verify the significant mediating effect. Results were obtained in this study as the educational satisfaction have significant effects on participation satisfaction. And the mediating effect of educational satisfaction on project effectiveness is statistically significant. Based on the findings, in order to increase project effectiveness, we need to realize the importance of education for the aged joining employment promotion project for the elderly, and consider the participation satisfaction.

Is the Risk Unloaded on Dispatch and Service Supplier?: Influence of Indirect Employment on Safety, Health and Satisfaction (위험은 파견, 용역 직원에게 외주화 되는가?: 간접 고용이 안전, 건강, 만족에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of employment type(direct employment, dispatch and service supplier) on risk factor exposure, health and satisfaction. The data of the 4th wave of Korean Working Conditions Survey (KWCS) conducted by Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) in South Korea was used. Business support service industry and manufacturing industry were selected as appropriate industries for analysis. In the final analysis, 5,865 in the manufacturing industry and 1,361 in the service support industry were included. Various variables related risk, safety, satisfaction and health such as risk factor exposure, MSDs exposure, work environment satisfaction, injury probability, dangerous work, workload, physical health problem, perceived health, positive emotions, stress, participation for decision making and experience of accident/disease were analyzed and company size and age was controled. An ANCOVA was conducted to identify significant mean differences of risk, safety, satisfaction and health related variables among direct employed workers, dispatch and service supplier workers. The results showed that all the variables except stress showed a significant difference depending on employment type in the service supply industry. In the manufacturing industry, there were significant difference in the risk factor exposure, MSDs exposure, work environment satisfaction, workload, physical health problem, perceived health, and participation depending on employment type. These results indicated that the risks are unloaded to subcontract and outsourcing company workers. Based on these results, the implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

The Satisfaction of Employment Promotion and the Intension of Participation Continuity of the Elderly: Focusing on the Intension of the Participants of the Public Sector Employment Promotion Program (노인일자리사업 참여만족도와 참여지속의사에 관한 연구: 공공분야 노인일자리 사업 참여자를 중심으로)

  • The aims of the study is to analyse the participation satisfaction and the intension continuing participation through volunteering of the elderly who take part in the employment promotion programme for the elderly. The major findings can be summarised as follows; first, although the level of satisfaction of the public sector programme participants seems relatively high, the satisfaction level on the payments is not. Secondly, there was differences in the level of volunteering intension according to different kinds of the programmes. Thirdly, higher socio-economic status, the sorts of the programme, and the level of satisfaction affects the odds of the participation intention of the elderly. Based on these findings, the study suggests various directions of the employment promotion programme for the elderly such as need assessment for the elderly, the increase of the payment, promoting the quality of employment, and the administrative system for supporting elderly volunteering.

The Influences of Variables Related to Family and Employment on Work·Family Spillover in Working Wives with Children (가족 및 직업관련 변수가 유자녀 취업주부의 일·가족 전이에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of variables related to family and employment on work family spillover in working wives with children. Korean Longitudinal Survey of Women & Families(KLoWF; 2008) of Korea Women's Development Institute was used in this study. The subjects of this study were 733 working wives with children. For data analysis Cronbach ${\alpha}$, and multiple regression were performed. The results show that, first, among variables related to family, family role awareness and marital satisfaction influence on work-family negative spillover, and values on familism and husband's weekends housework hour influence on family-work negative spillover in working wives with children. Second, among variables related to employment, career satisfaction, wife's weekly working hour, husband's perception on employment of wife and sexual discrimination influence on work-family negative spillover, and career satisfaction, husband's perception on employment of wife, employment stability, husband's monthly income and husband's weekly working hour influence on family-work negative spillover in working wives with children. Third, among variables related to family and employment, wife's weekly working hour, family role awareness, marital satisfaction husband's perception on employment of wive, husband's weekly working hour, and career satisfaction influence on work-family negative spillover, and values on familism and wife's weekly working hour influence on family-work negative spillover in working wives with children.

A Study Having the Certifications Students of Majoring in Culinary Arts on the Satisfaction of Class and Preparation for Employment (외식조리전공 대학생들의 자격증 소지가 수업 만족도 및 취업 준비에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted for the university students who majored in culinary arts. The effects of students' certifications on class and school life satisfaction and their effects on preparation employment were examined. The results showed that the students with the certifications had a high level of satisfaction in the class satisfaction, but they also had high stress in the school life. In other words, it seemed that the stress was increased in parallel with the school life in obtaining the certificate. In the case of qualification for preparation employment, the certification affects the preparation for employment even for the culinary arts majors. As for the number of certificates and passions, the change was found from 3 certifications, lower in 4, but again in 5. These results suggest that the certification initially increases enthusiasm, but when it reaches a certain level, it reaches its limit and it rises again after passing the interval. Also, students who graduated from cooking related high school showed high passion compared to those who did not.

Perceived Employment Instability Effect on Psychological Well-being and Job Satisfaction: Resilience and Character Strength as Mediator

  • Purpose - This study intended to identify how resilience and character strength among employees are influenced by employment instability and the negative impact it could have on job satisfaction and psychological wellbeing. Research design, data, and methodology - This study hypothesizes that employment instability will have a negative effect on resilience and character strength, but resilience and character strength will have a positive effect on job satisfaction and psychological wellbeing. A total of 150 valid questionnaires were collected and utilized for analysis. Results - Employment instability was found to have a negative impact not only on job satisfaction and psychological wellbeing but also on employee resilience and character strength. Conclusion - The results suggest that along with the necessity for a strategic approach at the corporate level, enterprises should also acknowledge employee failures and support them in job situations. They should create a positive work environment and a structure of empowerment, interesting jobs, and a positive organizational culture to build various systems and the ability to enhance self-esteem and stamina in order to reinforce character strength.

Impact of appearance satisfaction and ego-resilience on employment stress among dental hygiene students (외모만족도와 자아탄력성이 치위생(학)과 재학생의 취업스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the appearance satisfaction and ego-resilience of dental hygiene students on their employment stress. Methods : A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 403 female dental hygiene students in five colleges in Chungbuk-do, Gyeongnam-do, and Daejeon. Results : 1. The college students got a mean of $2.78{\pm}0.42$, $3.27{\pm}0.41$ and $2.28{\pm}0.52$ in appearance satisfaction, ego-resilience and job-seeking stress, respectively. 2. Employment stress revealed higher score in poorer financial conditions(p<0.001) and less major satisfaction(p<0.001). 3. Employment stress had a negative correlation to a physical attraction and somatic condition which were the sub-factors of appearance satisfaction. Stress also had a negative correlation to personal relationship and emotional control which were the sub-factors of ego-resilience. 4. Household economy(p=0.023) was identified as a variable that affected job-seeking stress, physical attraction(p=0.048) and somatic condition(p=0.039). Personal relationship(p=0.040) and emotional control(p=0.034) were the influential variables and had 33.2% of explanation power for employment stress. Conclusions : Appearance satisfaction and ego-resilience were the factors affecting job-seeking stress. Therefore counseling and educational programs should be provided for dental hygiene students to look at their own appearance and bodies in a more positive way, to foster their ego-resilience, to relieve and properly cope with employment stress and ultimately to promote their mental health.
