  • In modern society industrial structure is being altered in complex and various way owing to rapid technical development and economic development, and concerns and recognition for surrounding environment is being moth heightened. For this reason, modern people requite the environment which can be applied in more pleasant and convenient way, and in order to satisfy such requirements, importance of the interior design mote vividly stands out, and concerns or the society for the design is being more Heightened these days. Especially, as for the design of the office space, the study transforming the office, which is the rendezvous of the information, into the business environment with more comfortable and sensitivity, being free rrom the design concentrated on the business efficiency and economic feasibility, has been actively proceeded. As it is the reality that various and new types of the business spaces have appeared, new office landscape design is requited as the device to solve the matter related to the society change. It is purposed to propose the office space which is comfortable together with flowing sensitivity by applying the color plan that unconsciously controls the human sense through remodeling of mid size of the office space.

An Experimental Study to Determine Proper Lighting Conditions in Powder Rooms

  • In this study, a mock powder room was installed with variable LED lighting environments in order to conduct the experiments. The experimental conditions include luminaire type, illuminance ratio, vertical illuminance and color temperatures. The evaluation methods used were the Semantic Differential Method and a subjective evaluation on activities through observation. The SD evaluation result factor analysis categorizes ideas into three factors: brightness, emotion, and glare. The vertical bracket or the combined luminaire (luminous panel+ Vertical bracket) has better brightness than luminous panel. A vertical illuminance of 500lx is not significantly difference as compared to 600lx, allowing 500lx to be considered standard. The emotional atmosphere is evaluated as being better at lower color temperature. The luminous panel is the best for reducing glare while the vertical bracket is the worst. The best conditions differ according to the illuminance ratio of the luminous panel and vertical bracket. In the subjective evaluation (satisfaction with lighting environment, suitability to activity) the combined luminaire and 4000K received the best evaluation.

Comparison of Visual Sensibility for Red Shirts between Korean and Chinese University Students (한국과 중국 대학생의 빨간색 셔츠에 대한 시각적 감성 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the visual sensibility of red shirts in university students of two countries, Korea and China in order to suggest the color planning for shirts. Seven tonal red shirts' visual sensibility and preferences were evaluated by the students of Korea and from China in the sense of sight. Evaluated data were analyzed by using frequency analysis, average, factor analysis and t-test. The visual sensibility of red shirts was classified into three factors: sporty, romantic and classic. Those factors of visual sensibility showed a significant difference according to nationality and gender. The Chinese students had a more sporty feel to the strong tone, and a more classic feel to the dark tone than the Korean students. The deep tone red shirts was reputed to be more romantic by the Korean students, but the light tone and the pale tone were considered more romantic by the Chinese students. Meanwhile, the effects of nationality and gender on seven tone of preferences for red shirts was significantly differed.

  • This study on the methode is easied to distinguish with emotional visual lighting on AtoN facility using 3colors LED, and which is controlled to on-off switching of approach light in shore or harbor. The identification have easied to provide a differentiation between the AtoN facility of red and white light and surrounding light in harbor both sides. And the integrated controller have designed to left-right and serial sequential lighting system for harbor guidance using the GPS synchronous or timer. There is expectation effect that is prevent a confusion about distinguish of facility by ship's operator and to beautify a night scene of harbor, which is expressed to emotional identification lighting and variable color lighting on AtoN body by vertical layer color lighting using LED. In addition, the performance of AtoN is implemented to display with guidance light the harbor safety message by morse code lighting. Effectiveness of system is enhanced that age and power consumption reduce by candle alternated high light LED.

Luminescence effects of POF-based Flexible Textile by post-treated Optic illuminate (측광 후처리 가공에 의한 유연 광직물의 발광 효과)

  • The plastic optical fiber has been previously known to have the limits in fabrication and care, due to its lack of flexibility and durability. Recently, an innovative technology of 'water-resistant & flexible optical fiber', in which the surface of etched POF(i.e., plastic optical fiber) is to be coated with a type of synthetic resin, has been developed. In this study, the post-treated POF-based flexible textiles were evaluated in terms of luminance, physical visibility and perceived visibility, according to the fabric lengths and colors of the light source. The POF-based flexible textile with 10cm fabric length and green light source appeared to show relatively higher illuminating effects. The maximum distance for perceived visibility of the POF-based flexible textiles was found to be 100m. Therefore, the results of this study are expected to be utilized as a fundamental for the further studies to develop the digital color clothing with application of POF-based flexible textile.

  • In this paper, we study the bus stop shelters, one of the public facilities, revised by the development plan of Seoul city. Dark gray and brown are dominant colours for the shelters. As representative colours, designated by Seoul city, dark gray and brown can be harmonious naturally with urban environment. However, in view of universal design, those colours have some problems to be recognized and to be used for handicapped groups, olds and childens especially. For analysis, investigating proposition and circumstance of two groups living in the city is the first place. This study is for building proper colour domains of universal design for public facilities and for recognizing that the way of public facilities should be that the ambit of public space is not regarded as a facility but recognized easily in accordance with environment including a facility. we hope that this paper is practically used as a reference for coming studies are the purposes of this study.

  • For making high-functional illumination environment and pleasantness to human beings, it is needed to analyze optical characteristics from lightsource as well as to analyze and examine emotional characteristics which respond to optical characteristics systematically. Also, it is Possible to classify lightsource according to function and use based on optical and emotional characteristics systematically and these results can be applied to practical data for professional illumination design field. The aim of this study is to develop technique for evaluating sensibility as well as to accumulate sensibility database through measuring and evaluating emotional reaction to optical characteristics from lightsource. Final aim of this study is to develop simulation and evaluation technique for interior illumination environment, the outline of this paper : 1) operating simulator for various illumination environment 2) developing evaluation methodology for evaluating illumination environment 3) preparing sensibility index through evaluation and analysis The process of this study is as follows. 1) Developing optical evaluation item of lightsource 2) Developing emotional evaluation item of lightsource 3). As purpose of this MCC sensitivity palette research takes advantage of the most sensitive color, do. Because applying correct sensitivity more than when design with matter already settled, rid private prejudice, and is thing to convey design intention exactly to user. Excellent culture contents must be able to equip international color design sensitivity. MCC sensitivity palette research studies and carries on the head emotion and sensitivity language that is nationality first, and collect End arranged sensitivity adjective through data analysis and picture data analysis that is the next time research leader Munheonjeok. And distributed collected adjective equally, and arrange distributed adjective by field of each sensitivity and collect system. Do 3 colors, 4 colors color scheme in selected sensitivity adjective and completed Simheom version. Result of beta version research to color specialist and designer last digital palette through question and inquiry compose. Through this process, completed more real and correct digital color sensitivity palette. Completed color scheme is operated in www.mcdri.net on web, and also programs to windows base and developed to software. MCC color scheme palette that research result is made includes sensitivity data database. This database can use directly in industry and continuous development is available. Software can search color scheme in language and idea development through classification search that use 3 attributes of color is available there is cough data of each output device different color error.

Characteristics of Environmental Color Image Vocabulary for Public Healthcare Facility (공공보건시설 환경색채이미지 어휘 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of color image for establishing the color environment contributing to the promotion of public health in the public health facilities and to utilize it as data of public health color plan and index development. For this purpose, the results of the previous precedent studies were integrated and public health facilities were classified into medical facilities (general hospitals), health facilities (public health centers), and sub - healing facilities (elderly care facilities). We visited 18 public health facilities in total, measured the environmental color of with a spectroscopic, compared the results and the precedent studies results, and identified color image characteristics and future supplement points. The results are as follows. First, the previous studies related to the environment color image vocabulary of the public health facilities, it prefer comfortable, bright and positive image. Second, as a result of direct measurement the environmental color of the public health facilities, it is found that most of them use the high brightness and low saturation color of Y series. Third, as a result of analyzing vocabulary of environmental color image of public health facilities, 'natural' image showed the highest frequency, and other images such as 'gentle' and 'decent' appeared. It was difficult to understand the characteristics of the color image vocabularies of public health facilities. This study is a convergence study of color science and environmental design, and it extends the scope of multidisciplinary research related to design and it will be helpful in environmental planning on user's emotion.

Investigation of the Emotional Characteristics of White for Designing White Based Products (백색 제품 디자인을 위한 감성적 특성 연구)

  • In this study we investigated emotional characteristics of various whites which have slightly different nuances to suggest guidelines that help designers to select appropriate colors when designing white based products. The study involved three different procedures. In experiment 1, we selected 20 emotional words through a survey (N=30) among 60 words, which we picked from literature review that was thought to be appropriate to evaluate product colors. In experiment 2, we evaluated the emotional characteristics of 13 basic colors from the I.R.I Hue & Tone 120 system (N=30) using previously selected emotional words, to find relative emotional positions of white in comparison to other colors. Based on the ratings, factor analysis was conducted and consequently four factors were extracted: flamboyant, elegant, clear, and soft. Accordingly, the emotional characteristics of the 13 colors were profiled and compared with those of white. Finally, in experiment 3, we conducted an evaluation of emotional characteristics on 25 whites with different nuances facilitating the four factors obtained in experiment 2. The color stimuli used in experiments were measured in terms of CIE 1976 $L^*a^*b^*$, and regression analysis was performed in order to predict the emotional characteristics through the L, a, and b values of a color, as long as that is perceived as a white. Throughout three empirical studies, we observed three overruling tendencies : First, there are four important factors when evaluating product color - flamboyant, elegance, clearness and softness; second, white is dominantly the most elegant in comparison to other colors; third, the emotional factors of the study were affected by some combinations of attributes of colors rather than by all three-hue, saturation and brightness. In addition, the equations derived from the regression analysis in experiment 3, it is expected that designers may predict the emotional distinction between nuances of white.
