  • The efficiency of electron injection from the cathode is strongly dependent on the thickness of the LiF buffer-layer. We used LiF to electron Injection layer. We compared characteristics of organic light emitting device changing LiF thin film thickness from 1.0 m to 10.0 nm. Experiment result, we found that LiF thickness has the optimized electrical characteristics in 3.0 m. In this paper, we did research about electrical characteristics of organic light emitting device by LiF thickness change using method numerical analysis method. We proved adequate experimental results that compare results of numerical analysis, and come out through an experiment results is validity.

  • We investigated the light-emitting performances of blue phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes, known as PHOLEDs, by incorporating an N,N'-dicarbazolyl-3,5-benzen interlayer between the hole transporting layer and emitting layer (EML). We found that the effects of the introduced interlayer for triplet exciton confinement and hole/electron balance in the EML were exceptionally dependent on the host materials: 9-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-3,6-bis(triphenylsilyl)-9H-carbazole, 9-(4-tert-butylphenyl)-3,6-ditrityl-9H-carbazole, and 4,4'-bis-triphenylsilanyl-biphenyl. When an appropriate interlayer and host material were combined, the peak external quantum efficiency was greatly enhanced by over 21 times from 0.79% to 17.1%. Studies on the recombination zone using a series of host materials were also conducted.

  • Recently, Top emission organic light-emitting diode (TEOLED) has been attracted by their potential application for the development of flat panel display (FPD). We have fabricated the high luminance top emission organic-emitting diode (TEOLED) using dual cathode layer and three top emitting structure. These devices were characterized by electroluminescence (EL) and current density-voltage (J-V) measurements. After compared it with Au anode structure, luminance of the device using dual anode was better than using without Al device. Consequently, Al layers are very good candidates for a promising electron-injecting buffer layer for top emission light-emitting diode (TEOLED).

  • The white-light-emitting organic LED(OLED) with two-wavelength was fabricated using the DPVBi of blue emitting material and a series of orange color fluorescent dye(Rubrene) by vacuum evaporation processes. The basic structure of white-light-emitting OLED was ITO/NPB(150$\AA$)/DPVBi/Rubrene/BCP(100$\AA$)/Alq$_3$(150$\AA$)/Al(600$\AA$). We analyzed the fabricated device through the changes of the DPVBi and Rubrene layer's thickness. We obtained the white-light-emitting OLED with white color light and the CIE coordinate of the device was (0.29, 0.33) at applied voltage of 13V when the thickness of DPVBi layer was 210$\AA$ and the thickness of Rubrene layer was 180$\AA$. At a current of 100㎃/$\textrm{cm}^2$, the quantum efficiency was 0.35% and at a voltage of 20V, it was 0.405%.

  • Top emission organic light-emitting diode is commonly used because of high efficiency and good color purity than bottom - emission organic light-emitting device. Unlike BEOLED, TEOLED contain semi-transparent metal cathode. Because of semi-transparent cathode, micro cavity effect occurs in TEOLED. We optimized this effect by changing the thickness of hole injection layer. Device consists of is indium-tin-oxide / N,N'-Di-[(1-naphthyl)-N,N'-diphenyl]-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (x nm) / tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (50nm) / LiF(0.5nm) / Mg:Ag (1:9), and we changed NPB thickness which is used as HTL in our device in order to study how micro cavity effects are changed by optical path. As the results, NPB thickness at 35nm showed the current efficiency of 8.55Cd/A.

  • We have studied white OLED using two types of Zn-complexes as a emitting layer. We synthesized new emissive materials $Zn(HPQ)_2$ as a yellow emitting material and $Zn(HPB)_2$ as a blue emitting material. Zn-complexes have a low molecular compound and thermal stability. The fundamental structures of the fabricated OLED was ITO / NPB (40nm) / $Zn(HPB)_2$ (30nm) / $Zn(HPQ)_2$ / LiF / Al. We varied the thickness of the $Zn(HPQ)_2$ layer 20, 30 40 nm. When the thickness of the $Zn(HPQ)_2$ layer was 20 nm, white emission was achieved. The maximum luminance was 12,000 cd/$m^2$ at a current density of 800 mA/$cm^2$. The CIE coordinates of the white emission was (0.319. 0.338) at an applied voltage of 10 V.

  • Recently, organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs) is widely used as one of the information display techniques. We synthesized 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole($Zn(HPB)_2$). We studied the luminescent properties of OLEDs using $Zn(HPB)_2$. The ionization potential(IP) and the electron affinity(EA) of $Zn(HPB)_2$ investigated using cyclic-voltammetry(C-V). The IP and EA were 6.5 eV and 3.0 eV, respectively. The PL and EL spectra of $Zn(HPB)_2$ were observed at the wavelength of 450 nm. We used $Zn(HPB)_2$ as an emitting layer and hole blocking layer. At the experiment about hole blocking effect, we inserted $Zn(HPB)_2$ between emiting material layer(EML) and cathode, and between hole transport layer(HTL) and emitting material layer(EML). We measured current density-voltage and luminance-voltage characteristics at room temperature.

  • The organic electroluminescent(EL) device has gathered much interest because of its large potential in materials and simple device fabrication. We fabricated EL devices which have a blended single emitting layer containg poly(Nvinylcarbazole)[PVK] and poly(3-dodecylthiophene)[P3DoDT]. The molar ratio between P3DoDT and PVK changed with 1:0, 2:1 and 1:1. To improve the external quantum efficiency of EL devices, we applied insulating layer, LiF layer between polymer emitting layer and AI electrode. All of the devices emit orange-red light and it's can be explained that the energy transfer occurs from PVK to P3DoDT. Within the molar ratio 1:0, 2:1 and 1:1, the energy transfer was not saturated, which results in the not appearance of PVK emission in the blue region. In the voltage-current and voltage-light power characteristics of devices applied LiF layer, current and light power drastically increased with increasing with applied voltage. In the consequence of the result, the light power of the device have a molar ratio 1:1 with LiF layer was about 10 times larger than that of the device without PVK at 6V.

  • We have studied conduction mechanism that is interpreted in terms of space charge limited current (SCLC) region and tunneling region. The OLEDs are based on the molecular compounds, N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine (TPD) as a hole transport, tris (8- hydroxyquinolinoline) aluminum(III) $(Alq_3)$ as an electron injection and transport and emitting later, copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) and poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) and poly(vinylcarbazole) (PVK) as a buffer layer respectively. Al was used as cathode. We manufactured reference structure that has in ITO/TPD/$Alq_3$/Al. Buffer layer effects were compared to reference structure. And we have analyzed out luminance efficiency-voltage characteristics in ITO/Buffer layer/TPD/$Alq_3$/Al with buffer-layer materials.
