  • As the development of hydrogen vehicles has accelerated in recent years, it is necessary to develop a storage tank for hydrogen fueling stations capable of high-pressure charging, and for this purpose, a new system with a compressor-embedded refueling tank is required. In this study, the parametric study of shape design based on strength performance evaluation was carried out to find the optimal shape design of bellows, the core component of compressor-embedded refueling tank for a newly developed hydrogen refueling station capable of high-pressure charging above 1,000 bar. The design factors for parametric study were contour shape and radius of bellows, and the performance factors were the maximum stress and the gap distance in the contact direction. In the shape design of the compressor bellows for hydrogen refueling station considered in this study, it was found that adjusting the contour radius is an appropriate design method to improve the compression performance and structural safety.

  • Currently, NAND Flash memory has been widely used in consumer storage devices due to its non-volatility, stability, economical feasibility, low power usage, durability, and high density. However, a high capacity of NAND flash memory causes the high power consumption and the low performance. In the convention memory research, a hierarchical filter mechanism can archive an effective performance improvement in terms of the power consumption. In order to attain the best filter structure for NAND flash memory, we selected a direct-mapped filter, a victim filter, a fully associative filter and a 4-way set associative filter for comparison in the performance analysis. According to the results of the simulation, the fully associative filter buffer with a 128byte fetching size can obtain the bet performance compared to another filter structures, and it can reduce the energy*delay product(EDP) by about 93% compared to the conventional NAND Flash memory.

  • The easily accessible handheld devices equipped with camera are widely available as common commodities. According to this trend, utilization of images is popular among common users for various purposes resulting in huge amount of images in local or network based storage systems. In this environment, identification of an image with a solid and effective manner is demanded in behalf of safe distribution and efficient management of images. The generated identifiers can be used as a file name in file systems or an index in image databases utilizing the uniqueness of the identifiers. In this paper, we propose a method that generates image identifiers using linear components in images. Some experiments of generation of identifiers are performed, and the results evaluate that the proposed method has feasible effectiveness.

  • In this paper, we developed a file system architecture for portable multimedia devices. To enhance user convenience, the information about the stored files should be easily retrieved and organized. We defined NMD (Networked MetaData), which can organize the files in networked fashion by attaching user-defined attributes and relation between files. The NMD is stored in flash memory to utilize its nonvolatile property and low-power consumption, while multimedia files are stored in hard disk, an inexpensive mass storage. The experimental implementation showed that this architecture was able to save about 10% power compared to the hard disk NMD-store.

  • Mani Memory DataBase(MMDB) system store their data in main physical memory and provide very high-speed access. Conventional database system are optimized for the particular characteristics of disk storage mechanism. Memory resident systems, on the other hand, use different optimizations to structure and organize data, as well as to make it reliable. This paper provides a brief overview on MMDBs and the results after evaluating the performance of our simple MMDB based on Embedded system.

  • Recently, flash memories are one of best media to support portable computer's storages in mobile computing environment. The features of non-volatility, low power consumption, and fast access time for read operations are sufficient grounds to support flash memory as major database storage components of portable computers. However, we need to improve traditional Indexing scheme such as B-Tree due to the relatively slow characteristics of flash operation as compared to RAM memory. In order to achieve this goal, we devise a new indexing scheme called F-Tree. F-Tree improves tree operation performance by compressing pointers and keys in tree nodes and rewriting the nodes without a slow erase operation in node insert/delete processes.

  • The thermomechanical and surface chemical properties of nanocomposite of poly( D, L-actic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) were improved significant due to concentration of graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets as nanoscale fillers to PLGA film. Thermomechanical properties of the PLGA/GO (2wt.-%.) nanocomposite were decreased crystallization and melting temperature, weight loss. The storage and loss moduli of the nanocomposite were enhanced by chemical bonding between the oxygenated functional groups of the GO nanosheets and the polymer chains in the PLGA matrix. Enhanced hydrophilicity of nanocomposite caused by embedded GO nanosheets also improved for good biocompatibility. Our findings indicate that thermomechanical properties and biocompatibility of nanocomposite embedded with GO nanosheets are attractive candidates for use in biomedical applications such as scaffolds.

  • As we know the effects of cache memory research, instruction and data caches can be separated for higher performance with Harvard CPUs. In this paper, we shows the efficiency of buffer system in the instruction and data flash storage medium. And we analyzed characteristics of the data and instruction flash and evaluated the performance. Finally, we propose the best buffer structure with an optimal block size and buffer size for the instruction and data flash.

  • This paper describes the method of data synchronization among devices for personal cloud services. Existing data synchronization for mobile devices is based on a central server to mobile devices or a PC to a mobile device. However, the purpose of this paper is to share user data in heterogeneous environments, without depending on central server. This technology can be applied to synchronize personal data between a device and a personal cloud storage for personal cloud services. The ad hoc synchronization needs a sync agent service discovery module, a user authentication module, a network adapter, and an application data synchronization module. The method described in this paper is better than existing synchronization technology based on client-server in availability, performance, scalability quality attributes.

  • Multi-queue I/O block layer has been recently employed in Linux kernel to support fast storage devices such as NVMe SSDs, but it lacks differentiated I/O services yet. In this paper, we propose an I/O scheduling scheme that can improve the user responsiveness of foreground processes, which are closely related to user satisfaction. To this end, we redesign the existing multi-queue block layer to classify the I/O requests from foreground processes and schedule them by exploiting the feature of NVMe interface. Experimental results show that latency and launch time of the foreground processes have been significantly improved compared to original Linux kernel.
