A Study on the Advanced Electronic Book System Based in Web (웹기반의 전자원문 관리 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we design and implement electronic book system providing web-based interface for the ebook. The aim of this study is to optimize the effective reading and management of electronic text for its users(readers and librarians). Advanced functions of the electronic book system are the following: 1) Electronic book system is not dependent to specific software and tool. 2) Electronic book system is able to. minimize images(table, image, icon etc) to improve the meaning and readability of information. 3) Electronic book system is able to reduce the effort for indexing extraction and constructing the table of content. 4) The system is able to collect the user log files that are created during the process of reading ebook from various points of view. 5) When reading, the system uses the DRM through decoding and encoding the ebook.

  • It is certain that EC(Electronic Commerce) applying the internet will be activated in the knowledge society of 21 century based on IT(Information Technology). Though this change of social environment helps the useful information resource available to expand, it looks like that the rapid inclease in lots of information to gather makes colleges, reseach laboratories and public institutions to spend more man power and money on work of book purchases than before and now. Therefore the most urgent part for the business process reengineering in work of information service center is the business of book purchases. The business of book purchases is the core part in organizations and facilities. It should construct the books which the organigation and facility need in the most economical and efficient way within the range of physically receptive capacity with the limited budget. These organigations and facilities have to establish the policy of the book stock which they should possess and also librarians should endeavour to configure the kernel book stock constantly. I assert that they need to ensure a specialty with the improvement of business process accompanying choosing and purchasing the books. Especially, in a case of purchasing foreign books by request of members like professors, students, researcher and so on they have to replace the business of book purchase using agency with direct dealing using EC. This Business Process Reengineering will cut down on expenses, offer the transparency of book purchases and also give the users confidence. Moreover the Business Process Reengineering make it possible to build well constructed main books and information resource. The people in charge are enabled to acquire the knowledge of subjects with contiuous search for books of a spcial area and self-study. These experts in work will raise the quality of information service. Information service center will be the core in the 21c knowledge industry. To streng then value of it, efficiently run it and control it the existing business of book purchasing should be replace with direct dealing using EC applying the internet.

  • In this paper, we design and implement A4 sized, web-based POP(Print On Demand) system using multi-layer technique. We Propose the framework of POP system, which uses multi-layer technique, uses highly accessible web-service, produces template, enables a user to easily edit, and allows the user to instantly print edited files. This system will be widely used in web-based electronic publication and e-book.

  • Electronic Book(eBook) is a publication that stored and processed the contents of a book using digital mechanisms and has advantages such as easiness in saving and searching and the possibility of carrying. To activate Electronic Book which has the advantages mentioned above, studies on related techniques are required and a development of an editor exclusive for eBooks which is appropriate for eBook structure is still not adequate. In this paper, we design and implement Electronic Book editor providing form-based interface for eBook genre-based structure so that it would be easier for users to write. Especially because Electronic Book has genre-based structure due to the characteristic of literature, it is necessary to provide forms for each different genres. Therefore, compared to the problem of having to study XML grammar when writing Electronic Book using the existing XML editor, the proposed system can solve this problem by providing form-based interface. Additionally, with regard to the characteristic of eBook which have structures according to the intention of users, we provided the flexibility of adding dynamic forms to the form provided in default so that it will be more effective in writing Electronic Books. Therefore by providing form-based interface according to the genre and dynamic structure according to the intention of users, Electronic Book can be wrote more easily.

  • This paper is studied in order to develop the models that are appropriate for the procurement of electronic books at the school libraries. To develop the model, the following factors were reviewed: the characteristics of an electronic book, the factor analysis that affect the electronic book price, use case, environment, the role of government for the price decision model and procurement method. The models were proposed based on the above analysis and review. In addition, the proposed models reflect various opinions that the school libraries can apply.

  • As the improvement of computer performance and the development of IT technology have influence upon publishing industry, the e-Book system, a type of electronic resources, has come out. This is a method to use both texts and 2D image illustrations. Nowadays, there are more and more users who want high quality contents and a variety of contents such as the illustrated fish book using the 3D system. This article adds 3D animation objects to the current e-Book system and designs and realizes the 3D fish simulation system to which e-Book technology is applied so as to improve the comprehension of texts and readability of detailed information and increase readers' immersion as well.

  • The pandemic, which came unannounced, has caused people to feel the limitations of physical books and spaces, and discussions on library digital capabilities and sustainable library services are spreading. The e-book service of public libraries is at the stage of expanding to the autonomous district level and seeking to revitalize the service. In this study, a user satisfaction survey was conducted on the Gangdong district Library in Seoul to identify the current status of public library e-book services and suggest improvement measures. Based on the analysis results, improvement measures were derived in three aspects: expanding e-book content, strengthening user support services, and improving the e-book system management system.

  • 본 연구에서는 온라인 다중 사용자 환경의 eBook annotation 시스템 개발에서 데이터를 의미 기반으로 관리하고, 데이터에 대하여 상호 공통적인 이해를 표현하며, 그리고 데이터에 대한 무결성 검사 등을 지원하기 위해서 eBook annotation 온톨로지를 설계하였다. eBook annotation 데이터에 대한 상호 공통적이 이해를 표현을 위해서 한국 전자책 문서 표준인 EBKS(Electronic Book of korra Standard)를 기반으로 설계하였으며 설계된 온톨로지는 Conceptual Graph(CG)를 사용하여 표현하였다. 의미 기반의 처리를 위해서 본 온톨로지에서는 동의어(Synonym) 관계와 다국어(Interlingua) 관계를 고려하였으며 또한 annotation 데이터 생성시 오류 방지와 중요도를 표현하기 위해서 integrity, important axiom을 고려했다. 제안된 온톨로지는 annotation 데이터의 재사용성을 높일 수 있고 의미 정보를 활용함으로써 eLearning, cyberclass과 같은 다중 사용자 환경에서 효과적인 협업을 가능하게 한다.

  • Q+-reader, an E-Book reader system for XML based contents is introduced, The system is developed for the embedded platform, called Q+, which targets for the digital home electronics systems, The system supports XML contents and CSS based styling as described in Open e-book standard. The system renders the e-book contents for users, sc the contents are secured for a proper use.   • In recent times, the high-tech society has become the most important issue by IT technology and publication network. Today such flows have also been the case in the e-book field. Today's electronic publication is changing day by day. But there are some problems according to the prevalence of e-book. E-book is similar to p-book(paper-book). There is a limit to have perfect feeling of a texture of p-book. In order to purchase an e-book, people use online. People having malicious intent could copy and distribute it illegally. It leads to cyber abuses. This paper aims at the copyright protection of e-book ePub writers. The proposed e-book copyright protection system is designed using e-book production Sigil environment and C program environment. This system uses client-server communication through e-book ePub as authentication information. It discerns whether to permit or not for a client to read the e-book using authentication information. Authentication information includes ID, password, IP address, limited time of authentication information, GUID(Globally Unique Identifier). If authentication information about e-book meets requirements, people can use it. But if not, it blocks people's approach by quitting program.
