This study attempts to examine the economic impacts of electricity industry in Korea and Japan using an inter-industry analysis. Specifically, the study analyzes and compares electricity industry between Japan and Korea through production-inducing effect and value added inducing effect of electricity industry based on demand-driven model. Moreover, this study deals with supply shortage effect and sectoral price effect by using supply-driven model and Leontief price model, respectively. This study analyses the electricity industry through exogenous approach. The results show that electricity industry induces prodution-inducing effect of 0.5946 won in other industries in Korea and 0.5446 yen in other industries in Japan. Value-added-inducing effects are 0.1716 won in other in other industries in Korea and 0.2929 yen in other industries in Japan. Supply shortage effects of electricity industry are 1.5932 won in other industries in Korea and 1.2801 yen in other industries in Japan. And sectoral price effects are 0.2113% in Korea and 0.2196% in Japan due to the price increase of 10% of electricity industry.
Energy is a vital resource for the economic growth and the social development for any country. As the industry becomes more sophisticated and the economy more grows, the electricity demand is increasing. So forecasting electricity demand is an important for electricity suppliers. Forecasting electricity demand makes it possible to distribute electricity demand. As the market for Negawatt market began to grow in Korea from 2014, the prediction of electricity consumption demand becomes more important. Moreover, power consumption forecasting provides a way for demand management to be directly or indirectly participated by consumers in the electricity market. We use Genetic Algorithms to predict the energy demand of the fishing industry in Jeju Island by using GDP, per capita gross national income, value add, and domestic electricity consumption from 1999 to 2011. Genetic Algorithm is useful for finding optimal solutions in various fields. In this paper, genetic algorithm finds optimal parameters. The objective is to find the optimal value of the coefficients used to predict the electricity demand and to minimize the error rate between the predicted value and the actual power consumption values.

In these days global energy policy is changed from "supply" to "demand". In this regards, there are needs to analysis on effect of policy such as energy efficiency strategy, electricity rates. This study examines the relationship between energy consumption reduced by new energy policy and GDP growth for each industrial sector for Korea from 1970 to 2013. With respect to the direction of causality, energy use of 1th industry like agriculture and mining leads to GDP growth. On the other hand, GDP growth of 2nd industry, manufacturing, leads to energy use. And there is bidirectional causality in 3rd industry, service sector. These findings imply that the government policies aimed at reducing electricity consumptions and increasing energy efficiency should be progressed cautiously depend on status of each industry condition.
Now Korea depends upon the imported resources for about 97% of total using energy. So from October, 2001 Korean government has supported renewable energy business owners by providing them with Electric Power Industry Basis Fund. Only plant-use electricity of the small hydro power plant is exactly managed, but other renewable energy plants is unprepared or not yet managed. Therefore, in this paper, we'll analyze the plant-use electricity management of the small hydro power and propose improvement plans for plant-use electricity of the photovoltaic power plant.
Input ratio of electricity to other production inputs in the Korean manufacturing sector has been higher than for the other OECD countries. In addition, electricity prices in Korea has been relatively lower than the average of OECD countries. Moreover, electricity sector is responsible for most CO2 emissions in Korea as coal and natural gas account 41.9% and 26.8% of electricity production as of 2018. Therefore, it looks inevitable to raise the electricity tariff for the manufacturing sector in Korea, but there is a concern that increase in the electricity tariff might affect small and medium enterprises (SMEs) more than large firms. This study estimates electricity demand's price and output elasticities for large firms and SMEs in steel industry by employing a time varying parameter model (Kalman filter). The analysis shows that changes in output levels regardless of firms' size affect electricity demands more significantly than do changes in electricity prices. Second, large firms have higher variances for both price and output elasticities of electricity demand. Third, large firms have higher price elasticity but lower output elasticity of electricity demand relative to SMEs. Policy implications are suggested in association with how to reduce electricity demands in the energy-intensive industry.

This study compares the characteristics and the determinants of household electricity consumption for low electricity consuming and high electricity consuming households. The data are drawn from a household energy consumption sample survey by Korea Energy Economics Institute in 2015. The results show the differences in socio-demographic, dwelling, and electricity consumption characteristics between two households. Next, the factors affecting the household's electricity consumption are investigated. Common factor affecting the electricity consumption function is only the number of electrical appliances. There are also the differences in major determinants of the household's electricity consumption functions for two households. The results of this study would be useful for understanding socio-demographic, dwelling, and electricity consumption characteristics of low electricity consuming and high electricity consuming households.

The purpose of this study is to assess key competencies, especially mathematical skills and communications skills, in order to find disaccord between industry and college in the field of automotive electricity on technical engineering education. For this study, an assessment sheet is consisted of nine questions items. Four questions items of them are to assess mathematical skills and five questions items of them are to assess communications skills. 134 copies returned assessment sheets are analyzed after data cleaning and it is concluded that disaccord between industry and college in the field of automotive electricity on technical engineering education is found.
The electric power industry has played an important role in dramatic economic development in Korea and the electricity has constituted a critical factor sustaining the well-being of the Korean people. This study uses input-output analysis to investigate the role of four electric power sectors (hydroelectric, fossil-fuels, nuclear and non-utility) in the Korean national economy for the period 1985~1998, focusing on four topics: the impacts of electricity supply investments, the electricity supply shortage effects, and the impacts of the rise in electricity rates, and the inter-industry linkage effect. The overall results reveal that non-utility electric sector is superior in terms of the national economy-wide effects to other three sectors throughout the period. Finally, potential uses of the results are illustrated from the perspective of policy instruments and some policy implications are discussed.
As the electricity produced from the electricity industry, a national key industry in Korea, are supplied to other industries as an intermediate goods, the supply shortage of electricity industry has a large impact on the national economy. This paper attempts to analyze the supply shortage effects which are defined as the negative impact of one won of supply failure in the electricity on the production of other industries. To this end, an input-output analysis using an input-output (I-O) table describing inter-industry flow of intermediate goods is applied. More concretely, the supply-driven model is applied subject to the OECD countries. The value of the supply effects interfere with Denmark's best large 1.682 was followed by South Korea, Japan, Australia, the UK.
