  • The dendrimer has been well known as a promising macromolecules for a building the organized nanostructure, which of the size can be controlled and which of periphery can be terminated by various functionalities. Currently a variety of research is being carried out in the field of dendrimer / polymer characterization, nano-scale atomic manipulation, and supramolecular nanostructure analysis. We investigated monolayer behavior and its characteristics at the air-water interface by LB method. In this report, we will present the interfacial properties of dendrimer monolayers on various conditions such as the surface-pressure, barrier speed and spreading quantity.

UV경화성 폴리머를 이용한 미소유체 통합접속 벤치 개발 및 전기/유체적 특성평가 (Electrical and Fluidic Characterization of Microelectrofluidic Bench Fabricated Using UV-curable Polymer)

  • 본 논문은 고차가지구조 폴리머인 AEO3000 를 이용한 UV 광경화 성형 공정을 제안하고자 한다. 이는 기존의 바이오칩 제작에 사용되는 PDMS 보다 경도가 높아 금속 전극 형성이 용이하고 제작 공정이 빠르다는 장점을 갖는다. AEO3000 을 이용하여 본 연구에서는 4 개의 소자를 전기적 유체적으로 연결할 수 있는 전기유체 통합벤치를 제작하고 미소유체 혼합소자와 세포분리소자를 연결, 본 소재와 공정이 바이오칩에 적용될 수 있음을 검증하였다. 전기 유체적 특성 분석 결과 전기적 접촉 저항은 $0.75{\pm}0.44{\Omega}$으로 충분히 작은 값을 보였으며, 유체 접속의 압력 저하는 8.3kPa로 기존의 튜브 연결 방법 대비 39.3% 개선된 값을 보였다. 통합벤치에 접속된 소자에 활성 및 비활성 효모를 주입하여 순차적인 혼합 및 재분리를 성공적으로 구현함으로써 본 소자에 적용된 AEO3000 및 UV 광경화 공정이 생체시료의 처리에 적용될 수 있음을 실험적으로 검증하였다. 이는 바이오 의료 분야에 적용 가능한 생체 친화적 소재의 고속 생산에 응용될 수 있다.

강자성(强磁性) 스테인리스강(鋼) 자화침(磁化鍼)의 개발 (Development of Magnetized Ferromagnetic Stainless Steel Acupuncture Needle)

  • Objectives : Manufacturing and manipulation techniques of acupuncture can be interpreted as an induced electromagnetic viewpoint, as proposed in previous study. Considering from this point of view, the magnetization of needles should be essential to enhance the electromagnetic effects during the behavior of the acupuncture needling. Methods : The current disposable needles are made of non-magnetic stainless steels, so ferromagnetic materials were searched as suitable substitutes. Meanwhile, at the practical view, stainless steels are very available for the several superior properties like as corrosion resistance, strength, etc., magnetic stainless steels were first investigated. Some types of them still preserved the ferromagnetic properties of iron, so trial needles were made with them. And then magnetization of them were followed. Results : Among the hundreds types of stainless steels, martensitic or ferritic ones are ferromagnetic. The needles made with these ferromagnetic wires were magnetized, and polarized by magnetizer, and their magnetic properties were improved. Moreover, in addition to the superiority of the magnetism, the electrical and thermal conductivities of them were even better than those of the current austenitic stainless steels. Conclusions : Through the developmental study based on the electromagnetic viewpoint, the magnetized and polarized acupuncture needles were completed. This means that these needles having improved magnetism can be used to improve the electromagnetic needling effects, and moreover, their superiorities in the electrical and thermal conductivities can also give another benefits in treatments of electrical or warm needling.

마그네트론 RIE을 이용한 M/NEMS용 다결정 3C-SiC 식각 연구 (A study on polycrystalline 3C-SiC etching with magnetron applied reactive ion etching for M/NEMS applications)

  • The magnetron reactive ion etching (RIE) characteristics of polycrystalline (poly) 3C-SiC grown on $SiO_{2}$/Si substrate by APCVD were investigated. Poly 3C-SiC was etched by $CHF_{3}$ gas, which can form a polymer as a function of side wall protective layers, with additive $O_{2}$ and Ar gases. Especially, it was performed in magnetron RIE, which can etch SiC at a lower ion energy than a commercial RIE system. Stable etching was achieved at 70 W and the poly 3C-SiC was undamaged. The etch rate could be controlled from $20\;{\AA}/min$ to $400\;{\AA}/min$ by the manipulation of gas flow rates, chamber pressure, RF power, and electrode gap. The best vertical structure was improved by the addition of 40 % $O_{2}$ and 16 % Ar with the $CHF_{3}$ reactive gas. Therefore, poly 3C-SiC etched by magnetron RIE can expect to be applied to M/NEMS applications.

Evaluation of Life Span for Al2O3 Nano Tube Formed by Anodizing with Current Density

  • Surface modification is a type of mechanical manipulation skills to achieve extensive aims including corrosion control, exterior appearance, abrasion resistance, electrical insulation and electrical conductivity of substrate materials by generating a protective surface using electrical, physical and chemical treatment on the surface of parts made from metallic materials. Such surface modification includes plating, anodizing, chemical conversion treatment, painting, lining, coating and surface hardening; this study conducted cavitation experiment to assess improvement of durability using anodizing. In order to observe surface characteristics with applied current density, the electrolyte temperature, concentration was maintained at constant condition. To prevent hindrance of stable growth of oxide layer due to local temperature increase during the experiment, stirring was maintained at constant speed. In addition, using galvanostatic method, it was maintained at processing time of 40minutes for 10 to $30mA/cm^2$. The cavitation experiment was carried out with an ultra sonic vibratory apparatus using piezo-electric effect with modified ASTM-G32. The peak-to-peak amplitude was $30{\mu}m$ and the distance between the horn tip and specimen was 1mm. The specimen after the experiment was cleaned in an ultrasonic bath, dried in a vacuum oven for more than 24 hours, and weighed with an electric balance. The surface damage morphology was observed with 3D analysis microscope. As a result of the study, differences were observed surface hardness and anti-cavitation characteristics depending on the development of oxide film with the anodizing process time.

Electrical/Optical Characterization of Zn-Sn-O Thin Films Deposited through RF Sputtering

  • Zn-Sn-O (Zinc-Tin-Oxide; ZTO) thin films have been gaining extensive academic and industrial attentions owing to a semiconducting channel materials applicable to large-sized flat-panel displays. Due to the constituent oxides i.e., ZnO and SnO2, the resultant Zn-Sn-O thin films possess artificially controllable bandgaps and transmittances especially effective in the visible regime. The current approach employed RF sputtering in depositing the Zn-Sn-O thin films onto glass substrates at ambient conditions. This work places its main emphases on the electrical/optical features which are closely related to the combinations of processing variables. The electrical characterizations are performed using dc-based current-voltage characteristics and ac-based impedance spectroscopy. The optical constants, i.e., refractive index and extinction coefficient, are calculated through spectroscopic ellipsometry along with the estimation of bandgaps. The charge transport of the deposited ZTO thin films is based on electrons characteristic of n-type conduction. In addition to the basic electrical/optical information, the delicate manipulation of n-type conduction is indispensible in diversifying the industrial applications of the ZTO thin films as active devices in information and energy products. Ultimately, the electrical properties are correlated to the processing variables along with the underlying mechanism which largely determines the electrical and optical properties.

전극표면에서 액적의 충전현상과 이를 이용한 액적의 이동 방법에 관한 연구 (Research on the Electrical Charging of a Water Droplet on the Electrode and Droplet Actuation Method using Electrical Charge)

  • Droplet in miniaturized microfluidic systems have received much focused attention recently. In this work, electrical charging phenomenon of a conducting water droplet on the electrode under the dc electric field is studied and using this phenomenon droplet actuation method for microreactor applications is experimentally demonstrated. To find effects of key factors, the effects of electric field, medium viscosity, and droplet size are investigated. A scaling law of charging for the conducting droplet is derived from the experimental results. Unlike the case of a perfect conductor, the estimated amount of electrical charge ($Q_{est}$) of a water droplet is proportional to the 1.59 power of the droplet radius (R) and the 1.33 power of the electric field strength (E). (For a spherical perfect conductor, Q is proportional to R2 and E.) It is thought that the differences are mainly due to incomplete charging of a water droplet resulted from the combined effect of electrochemical reaction at electrode and the relatively low conductivity of water. Using this phenomenon, we demonstrate the transport of the charged droplet and fusion of two oppositely-charged droplets. When electric field is subjected sequentially on the electrode, the charged droplet is transported on the electrode. For the visualization of fusion of charged droplets, the precipitation reaction is used. When subjected to a DC voltage, two droplets charged are moving and merging toward each other due to the Coulombic force and chemical reaction is simultaneously occurred by coalescence of droplets. It may be due to the interchange effect of charge. It is shown that the droplet can be used for microreactor where transporting, merging etc. of reagents constitute unit operation.

  • Coarse clumping of solid materials within diseased biological cells can have a marked influence on the light scattering pattern. Perturbations in refractive index lead to distinct varia­tions in the cytometric signature, especially apparent over wide scattering angles. The large dynamic range of scattering intensities restricts collection of data to narrow angular intervals be­lieved to have the highest potential for medical diagnosis. We propose the use of an interfer­ence filter to reduce the dynamic range. Selective attenuation of scattering intensity levels is expected to allow simultaneous data collection over a wide angular interval. The calculated angu­lar transmittance of a commercial shortwave-pass filter of cut-off wavelength 580 nm indicates significant attenuation of scattering peaks below ${\~}\;10^{circ}$, and reasonable peak equalization at higher angles. For the three-dimensional calculation of laser light scattered by cells we use a spectral method code that models cells as spatially varying dielectrics, stationary in time. How­ever, we perform preliminary experimental testing with the interference filter on polystyrene microspheres instead of biological cells. A microfluidic toolkit is used for the manipulation of the microspheres. The paper intends to illustrate the principle of a light scattering detection system incorporating an interference filter for selective attenuation of scattering peaks.

복잡한 2차원 물체 인식용 로봇 시각장치의 구현에 관한 연구 (A Study on Implementation of a Robot Vision System for Recogniton of complex 2-D Objects)

  • A computer vision system for robot is developed which can recognize a variety of two dimensional complex objects in gray level noisy scenes. the system is also capable of determining the position and orientation of the objects for robotlc manipulation. The hardware of the vision system is developed and a new edge tracking technique is also proposed. The linked edges are approximated to sample line drawing by split and merge algorithm. The system extracts many features from line drawing and constructs relational structure by the concave and convex hull of objects. In matching process, the input obhects are compared with the objects database which is formed by learning ability. Thelearning process is so simple that the system is very flexible. Several examples arc shown to demonstrate the usefulness of this system.

  • 로보트 매니퓰레이터가 컨베이어 상의 파트를 추적 하면서 작업을 수행하는 것은 작업 효율의 증가에 크게 기여한다. 본 논문은 컨베이어 상의 파트를 추적하기 위한 로보트 매니퓰레이터의 동작계획 알고리즘을 제안한다. 로보트 매니퓰레이터의 추적 동작은 밸트의 속도, 추적 시작 시간에서의 파트와 로보트 핸드의 위체이 의하여 결정된다. 이때 토크 및 관절 속도, 관절 가속도, 관절 저크의 제한범위가 모두 고려되며, 최소의 정착시간을 갖는 추적 궤적이 생성된다. 추적 해는 linearr quadratic tracking문제로 접근하여 구한다. 로보트매니퓰레이터의 동적 방정식은 파라메터의 함수 성능 지수를 최소화 하는 동적 방정식의 해는 동적 계획법에 의하여 구한다. ${\mu}-VAX_@$에 의한 시뮬레이션 결과를 제시한다.
