  • In our country, most region is composed of mountains and people have recently been displeased with the construction of the substations in their vicinity so the substations newly built are mainly constructed with GIS system in the small area that has high soil resistivity near mountain. Therefore, nowadays the design of substation grounding system has been difficult, and the additional considerations are needed. UC substation was also difficult to design the grounding system because of so small substation area and high soil resistivity. This paper shows the examples of reducing the grounding system resistance reasonably by using several ways. Designing the ground grid electrode in the access road, deep electric earth probe, changing the substation soil with the law level resistivity soil. This report deals with the computer simulation of the grounding system resistance about the ways illustrated above.

  • In adaptive fuzzy control, fuzzy systems are used to approximate the unknown plant nonlinearities. Until now, most of the papers in the field of controller design for nonlinear system using fuzzy systems considers the affine system with fixed grid-rule structure. This paper considers general nonlinear systems and dynamic fuzzy rule structure. Adaptive laws for fuzzy parameters and fuzzy rule structrue are established so that the whole system is stable in the sense of Lyapunov.

  • GIS(Gas Insulated Switchgear) 내부에서 부분방전 신호를 검출 할 수 있는 UHF(Ultra High Frequency) 센서를 제작하고 그 특성을 조사하였다. UHF 센서는 GIS 내부에서 전기적, 기계적으로 안정된 형태로 제작되었으며, 영국의 NGC(National Grid Company)에서 제시한 규격을 충분히 만족함을 확인하였다. 부분방전 신호가 발생되는 모형 GIS 내에 UHF 센서를 장착하여 실제 부분방전 산호가 잘 측정됨을 확인하였다.

  • A new high voltage generator is designed and basic performance analysis by 2D-FEA is performed. The new generator is able to supply electricity directly to the high voltage grid without the need for a step-up transformer. For the 2D-FEA analysis, the generator model is coupled to external circuit components with inductance and end-winding resistance.

  • Islanding of PV systems occurs when the utility grid is removed but local sources continue to operate and provide power to local loads. Islanding is one of the serious problems in an electric power system connected with dispersed power sources. Also, this can present safety hazards and the possibility of damage to other electric equipments. If the real and reactive power of RLC load and PV system are closely matched, islanding phenomena can't be detected by the passive methods. Several active methods were proposed to detect islanding phenomena. The most effective method is SFS method which was suggested by Sandia National Laboratory. In this paper, a new anti-islanding algorithm is proposed and its validity is verified through simulation and experimental results for utility interconnection of PV system.

  • This paper presents an efficient and robust robot path planning technique that can always find a path, if one exists, in a densely cluttered, unknown and unstructured obstacle environment. The terrain in which the robot is expected to navigate is represented as a tesselated grid of square cells. The generated path is resolution complete and also resolution optimal once the terrain is fully explored by the robot or all the information about the terrain is given. The technique enables the accurate wave propagation to the diagonally adjacent cells and facilitates the implementations of various essential features for a real-time path planner such as partial updates and parallel computations.

Very High-speed Integer Fuzzy Controller Using VHDL

  • For high-speed fuzzy control systems, an important problem is the improvement of speed for the fuzzy inference, particularly in the consequent part and the defuzzification stage. This paper introduces an algorithm to map real values of the fuzzy membership functions in the consequent part onto an integer grid, as well as a method of eliminating the unnecessary operations of the zero items in the defuzzification stage, allowing a center of gravity method to be implemented with only integer additions and one integer division. A VHDL implementation of the system is presented. The proposed system shows approximately an order of magnitude increase in speed as compared with conventional methods while introducing only a minimal error and can be used in many fuzzy controller applications.

Probability Constrained Search Range Determination for Fast Motion Estimation

  • In this paper, we propose new adaptive search range motion estimation methods where the search ranges are constrained by the probabilities of motion vector differences and a search point sampling technique is applied to the constrained search ranges. Our new methods are based on our previous work, in which the search ranges were analytically determined by the probabilities. Since the proposed adaptive search range motion estimation methods effectively restrict the search ranges instead of search point sampling patterns, they provide a very flexible and hardware-friendly approach in motion estimation. The proposed methods were evaluated and tested with JM16.2 of the H.264/AVC video coding standard. Experiment results exhibit that with negligible degradation in PSNR, the proposed methods considerably reduce the computational complexity in comparison with the conventional methods. In particular, the combined method provides performance similar to that of the hybrid unsymmetrical-cross multi-hexagon-grid search method and outstanding merits in hardware implementation.

μBGA and μSpring packages for rambus DRAM applications and their electrical characteristics (Rambus DRAM 실장용 μBGA (Ball Grid Array) 및 μSpring 패키지와 전기적 특성)

  • 본 논문에서는 μspring 패키지의 구조와 제조공정을 소개하고, 전기적 특성을 μBGA와 비교 분석한 결과를 제시하였다. μBGA에서와 같이 μSpring 패키지의 연결선 인덕턴스 값은 기존의 TSOP 패키지의 반 이하로서 월등한 고속 신호 전달 특성을 제공하게 된다. 또한 μSpring CSP 패키지의 경우 가장 열악한 substrate trace를 가진 핀에서도 2.9nH로 평가되어, Rambus DRAM module의 인덕턴스 규격 상한 값 4nH에 비하여, 약 25% 정도의 margin을 제공한다. μSpring CSP패키지는 μBGA의 약 50%의 제조 비용으로서 μBGA가 만족시키지 못하는 JEDEC Level 1 규격을 충족시킬 뿐만 아니라, thermal cycle 1000회를 통과하는 높은 신뢰성을 제공하여 강력한 경쟁력을 가진다.

  • In this paper, the details of electric traction voltages which are widely used for metro and mainline trains are presented. The problems encountered in catenaries, pressure of the pantograph pan, catenary contact cross sectional area, materials etc are well covered. Catenary height from the rail for main line, bridges, sheds etc is discussed. The catenary running details and switching of one catenary to another are explained. The dead zones in 3 phase grid as well as in DC are presented here. The pantograph structure, blades, shoes etc. for AC/DC EMUs are dealt. The schematic diagram for electrification systems used for railways are given and explained with typical electrical parameters of Indian Railways.
