  • This research is developing the technique of troubleshooting in digital excitation system of nuclear power plant. and the design technique of excitation system is thought to be advanced through this research. Especially, the development of simulator enables to accumulate digital control technique, more analysis for excitation system algorithm. etc helps to develop other nuclear power plants.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects of switching-over control for power system stabilization. Switching-over control is applied to western part of korea electric power system to improve transient stability and short-circuit capacity. It's effectiveness is demonstrated in terms of fault current level and critical clearing time which is quantitative evaluation means of transient stability. The effect of generator tripping for power system stabilization is also presented.

  • These days, most of electric power facilities need high stability. Therefore integrated system has been required to monitor and control electronic power distribution system in fields at all times when the interruption of electric power has occurred. To construct this system, unit that convert and process the input signal from fields needed. And for control and monitoring from remote place MMI software is required. Lastly network equipments are required for real-time communications. So, in this paper, units for control and monitoring of emergency power generator and for electric power monitoring in normal electric power and interruption of electric power are developed. Also integrated remote system for monitoring in remote is developed.

교류 전기철도 시스템의 해석에 적합한 조류계산 기법 및 STATCOM을 적용한 전압 강하 개선 연구 (A Study on a New Power Flow Method for Analysis of AC Electric Railway System and Improvement of Voltage Drop Using a STATCOM)

  • This paper presents a new power flow method to analyze the AC electric railway system effectively in both cases of traction and regenerative braking of the trains. The algorithm to easily solve the power flow of the AC electric railway system with the trains of regenerative braking from the system without a train of regenerative braking is derived. Using this new power flow method, the voltage characteristics of a typical AC electric railway system is easily analyzed in both cases of traction and regenerative braking of the trains. We show that the presented method can be applied effectively in order to analyze the AT-fed AC electric railway system in both cases of traction and regenerative braking of the trains. A STATCOM(Static Synchronous Compensator) is applied to the system in order to improve the voltage drop problem and this case is also analyzed to show the effect of STATCOM.

  • When any faults occurred in electrical railway system, operators need to analysis it quickly and accurately. Existing COMTRADE based analysis tools are not enough to analysis faults occurred in electrical railway system. In this paper, it presents some functions to fault analysis for electrical railway system based on fault data formatted COMTRADE. These functions are implemented in PSCAD/EMTDC and it can be shown that analyzed results against actual electrical fault cases which were occurred in the electrical railway power system.

  • The power electric system is one of the most concerning factor for the reliability of the electric propulsion ship. operation in higher temperature decreases the device's reliability and power efficiency. the management of power loss and temperature of switching devices is indispensable for the reliability fo the power electric system. In this paper, IGBT chip of the switching devices is modeled and MIIR(Motor with Inverter Internal to Rotor)type of the propulsion motors is used. these parts interact with each other to calculate the loss and temperature of device. calculated Results is modeled and designed of the control and monitoring system for the electric propulsion system.

  • New environment change of electric power system focused in consumer's energy supply and demand. But electric power reliability preservation and reliability improvement countermeasure also need for long-term. It is need that change equipments that is composing electric power system in well-timed time and by maintaining, prevent breakdown beforehand and prevent consumer's power interruption by equipment fail. However, as only quantitative estimation is available by reliability estimation method that is presented in existing, it is no to use in dictionary fault prevention. Therefore, applied optimum reliability preservation through existent equipment fault data analysis of electric power system in equipment replace side, and this when maintain equipment replace of electric power system for reliability preservation using responsiveness analysis to base ordering evaluate. In existing about main equipment plain that this paper is power system the valued failure rate use this by score and precedence of electric power system equipment for replace of system considered expense.

  • The vehicle electric power system, which consists of two major components: a generator and a battery, which have to provide numerous electrical and electronic systems with enough electrical energy. A detailed understanding of the characteristics of the electric power system, electrical load demands, and the driving environment such as road, season, and vehicle weight is required when the capacities of the generator and the battery are to be determined for a vehicle. An easy-to-use and inexpensive simulation program may be needed to avoid the over/under design problem of the electric power system. A vehicle electric power simulator is developed in this study. The simulator can be utilized to determine the optimal capacities of generators and batteries. To improve the expandability and easy usage of the simulation program, the program is organized in modular structures, and is run on a PC. Empirical electrical models of various generators and batteries, and the structure of the simulation program are presented. For executing the vehicle electric power simulator, data of engine speed profile and electric loads of a vehicle are required, and these data are obtained from real driving conditions. In order to improve the accuracy of the simulator, numerous driving data of a vehicle are logged and analyzed.

Development of the Control System for Fast-Responding Frequency Regulation in Power Systems using Large-Scale Energy Storage Systems

  • Energy storage systems (ESS) can be used to provide frequency regulation services in a power system to replace traditional frequency regulation power plants. Battery ESS, in particular, can provide "fast-responding frequency regulation," wherein the facility can respond immediately and accurately to the frequency regulation signal sent by the system operator. This paper presents the development and the trial run results of a frequency regulation control system that uses large-scale ESS for use in a large power system. The control system was developed initially for the 4 MW ESS demonstration facility in Jocheon Jeju Island, and was further developed for use in the 28 MW ESS facility at the Seo-Anseong substation and the 24 MW ESS facility at the Shin-Yongin substation to provide frequency regulation services within mainland Korea. The ESS facility in Seo-Anseong substation responds to a sudden drop in frequency via governor-free control, while the ESS facility in Shin-Yongin responds via automatic generator control (AGC).
