Prediction of Mechanical Properties and Behavior of Polymer Matrix Composites Based on Machine Learning (기계학습에 기반한 고분자 복합수지의 기계적 물성 거동 예측)

  • Research on polymer matrix composites with excellent molding processability and mechanical properties in the automotive field including hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles is expanding to Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) to support the design of materials with specific mechanical properties. CAE automation requires the prediction of the mechanical properties and behavior of materials. Unlike single materials, the mechanical properties prediction of polymer matrix composites is difficult to explain with formulas because the mechanical behavior is complicated to be explained only by the relationship between the matrix and the filler. In this study, the stress-strain curve according to the composition of polymer matrix composites, which was difficult to predict due to its sensitivity to large plastic deformation and composition, was predicted based on machine learning of the test data. The developed model finds a complex correlation between matrix and filler types and compositions, and predicts the total stress-strain curve meaningfully even in the absence of learned test data. It is expected that the material design AI system can be completed in the future based on the developed model that predicts the mechanical properties of polymer matrix composites even for the combination and composition that have not been learned.

Micro forming technology for micro parts below $500{\mu}m$ in diameter by n hot extrusion process (열간 압출 공정에 의한 직경 $500{\mu}m$ 마이크로 부품 성형)

  • Micro parts are usually used of producing by micro-electro-mechanical systems(MEMS). In this paper, we present some fundamental results concerning on the MEMS, extrusion condition on the micro forming characteristics and new micro forward extrusion machine has been developed. In the first step, we manufactured micro dies in two kinds of sections. One is a circle section, another is a cross section. The process for fabricating micro dies combines a deep UV-lithography, anisotropic etching techniques and metal electroplating with bulk silicon based on Ni with a thickness of $50{\mu}m$. The outer diameter of Ni-micro dies is 3mm and the diameter of extrusion section is $270{\mu}m$ for a cross section, $500{\mu}m$ for a circle section. The low linear density polyethylene(LLEPD) in the shape of a pellet has been used of micro extrusion. The billet was placed in a container manufactured by electric discharge machining and extruded through the micro die by a piezoelectric actuator. The micro extrusion has succeeded in a forming such micro parts as micro bars, micro cross shafts.

A Study on Long-time Electrical Treeing Deterioration Properties According to High Frequency Voltage of Epoxy Resin (에폭시수지의 고전압 전원주파수 변화에 따른 장시간 전기적 트리잉 열화 특성연구)

  • Electrical tree structure is one of the most important influencing factors for electrical treeing characteristics in polymers. In this paper, we focused on the structure characteristics of electrical treeing in epoxy resins (original) insulation under different high-frequency voltages (60, 500, 1000Hz). Effects of voltage frequency on the ac electrical treeing phenomena in an epoxy resins were carried out in needle-plate electrode arrangement. To measure the treeing initiation and propagation, and the breakdown rate, constant AC of 10 kV with three different voltage frequencies (60, 500 and 1,000 Hz) was applied to the specimen in needle-plate electrode specimen at $30^{\circ}C$ of insulating oil bath. At 60 Hz, the treeing initiation time was 360 min and the propagation rate was $6.85{\times}10^{-4}mm/min$, and the morphology was dense branch type. As the voltage frequency increased, the treeing initiation time decreased and the propagation rate increased. At 1,000 Hz, the treeing initiation time was 0 min and the propagation rate was $7.81{\times}10^{-2}mm/min$, and the morphology was dense bush type.

The Development Measuring System of Temperature Effect to Produce Electric Power of Solar Cell

  • This paper focuses on a temperature effects on a PV panel which has been installed in Thailand. The main objective is cleaning PV panels and reduce temperature of PV panel by water injects from waterway and experimental results of PV power what it is difference. This project is designed by PLC control system which water injects and control PV temperature, In addition, this project consists of hardware and software such as water pump, water injection and PLC control has been automatically and it can be control system manually. The automatic control system is working when PV temperature rises up over 45 degree Celsius after that the pumping machine would inject water to the surface of PV panels and it must be stop when the PV panel temperature comes down less than 45 degree Celsius. The result of actual experimental found that the control system has been done correctly under specify condition. The experimental has been shown electrical data before and after water injects on PV system found that the electrical power a bit increases and The energy has been taken from PV panel less than energy consumption equipment of control system which taken to operate the water injecting system.

  • High-speed permanent magnet machines are likely to be a key technology for electric drives and motion control systems for many applications, since they are conductive to high efficiency, high power density, small size and low weight. In high-speed machines, the permanent magnets are often contained within a retaining sleeve. However, the sleeve and the magnets are exposed to high order flux harmonics, which cause parasitic eddy current losses. Rotor losses of high-speed machines are of great importance especially in high-speed applications, because losses heat the rotor, which is often very compact construction and thereby difficult to cool. This causes a danger of demagnetization of the NdFeB permanent magnets. Therefore, special attention should be paid to the prediction of the rotor losses. This paper is concerned with the rotor losses in permanent magnet high-speed machines that are caused by permeance variation due to stator slotting. First, the flux harmonics are determined by double Fourier analysis of the normal flux density data over the rotor surface. And then, the rectilinear model was used to calculate rotor losses in permanent magnet machines. Finally, Poynting vector have been used to investigate the rotor eddy current losses of high-speed Permanent magnet machine.

Deformation Characteristics Analysis of 3-Unit Fixed Partial Dentures by Using Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (전자처리 스페클 패턴 간섭법(ESPI)을 이용한 3-유닛 고정성 국소의치의 변형특성 분석)

  • Purpose: The deformation characteristics induced by non-destructive stresses using piezoelectric transducer(PZT) were analyzed for 3-unit fixed partial dentures manufactured PFM, Everest(CAD/CAM) and Zirkonzahn(copy milling, MAD/MAM) by electron speckle pattern interferometery(ESPI). Methods: The ESPI analysis after loading the restoration with PZT by applying electric voltage of 900mV at the points of 10 mm above the base of the prostheses. Results: PFM and All-Ceramic Everest prostheses showed about 0.1 ${\mu}m$ while that of All- Ceramic Zirkonzahn prostheses showed 0.085 ${\mu}m$, demonstrating that Zirkonzahn displaced less. For PFM and All-Ceramic Zirkonzahn prostheses, the displacements were large at just below the loading point, while generalize displacement was shown over the loading point and weak connector areas for All-Ceramic Everest prostheses. Conclusion: We could find that the deformation characteristics induced by non-destructive stresses using PZT analyzed by ESPI were similar to the fracture strengths evaluated using universal testing machine.

  • The axial piston pump by which the mechanical energy is converted into hydraulic energy has been widely used in a press, a injection molding machine and construction equipments due to the high specific power compared to the electric power system. In this paper, the one-piece shoe holder spring of the axial piston pump to simplify its structure and reduce this manufacturing cost was designed and tested. The finite element analyses using the 3-D shell element and contact element were performed to determine the thickness, width and initial angle of the shoe holder spring. Also, the compressive tests of the shoe holder spring were performed and their results were compared with those of the finite element analysis. Also, the performance and endurance limit of axial piston pump with the shoe holder spring were tested and evaluated.

A study on the analysis of grinding mechanism by using optimum in-process electrolytic dressing (최적 연속 전해드레싱에 의한 연삭기구의 규명에 관한 연구)

  • In recent years, grinding techniques for precision machining of brittle materials used in electric, optical and magnetic parts have been improved by using superabrasive wheel and precision grinding machine. The completion of optimum dressing of superabrasive wheel makes possible the effective precision grinding of brittle materials. However, the present dressing system cannot have control of optimum dressing of the superabrasive wheel. In this study, a new system and the grinding mechanism of optimum in-process electrolytic dressing were proposed. This system can carry out optimum in-process dressing of superabrasive wheel, and give very effective control according to unstable current and gap increase. Therefore, the optimum in-process electrolytic dressing is a good method to obtain the efficiency and mirror-like grinding of brittle materials.

Micromachining of the Si Wafer Surface Using Femtoseocond Laser Pulses (펨토초 레이저를 이용한 실리콘 웨이퍼 표면 미세가공 특성)

  • An experimental study of the femtosecond laser machining of Si materials was carried out. Direct laser machining of the materials for the feature size of a few micron scale has the advantage of low cost and simple process comparing to the semiconductor process, E-beam lithography, ECM and other machining process. Further, the femtosecond laser is the better tool to machine the micro parts due to its characteristics of minimizing the heat affected zone(HAZ). As a result of line cutting of Si, the optimal condition had the region of the effective energy of 2mJ/mm-2.5mJ/mm with the power of 0.5mW-1.5mW. The polarization effects of the incident beam existed in the machining qualities, therefore the sample motion should be perpendicular to the projection of the electric vector. We also observed the periodic ripple patterns which come out in condition of the pulse overlap with the threshold energy. Finally, we could machined the groove with the linewidth of below $2{\mu}m$ for the application of MEMS device repairing, scribing and arbitrary patterning.

The Finite Element Analysis and the Geometric Optimal Design of Linear Motor (리니어 모터의 유한요소해석과 기하학적 최적설계)

  • Linear motor has been considered to be the most suitable electric machine for high speed and high precision linear motion control. Thrust of linear motor is one of the important factor to specify motor performance. Maximum thrust can be obtained by increasing the current in conductor and is relative to the sizes of conductor and magnet. But, the current and the size of conductor have an effect on temperature of linear motor. Therefore, it is practically important to find design results that can effectively maximize the thrust of linear motor within limited range of temperature. Finite element analysis was applied to calculate thrust and numerical solutions were compared with experiment. The temperature of the conductor was calculated by the thermal resistance which was measured by experiment. The optimum design process was coded by the ADPL of ANSYS which is a commercial finite element analysis software. Design variables and constraints were chosen based on manufacturing feasibility and existing products. As a result, it is shown that temperature of linear motor plays an important role in determining optimum design.
