1:5 축소 10층 벽식 RC 공동주택 모델의 진동대실험 응답에 대한 해석적 모사 (Analytical Simulation of Shake-Table Responses of a 1:5 Scale 10-story Wall-type RC Residential Building Model)

  • 본 논문은 기 수행된 1:5축소 10층 RC 공동주택의 지진모의 실험결과에 비추어 근래 개발된 PERFORM-3D를 이용하여 해석적 모사를 시도하였다. 해석과 실험의 상관관계 분석에 의해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. (1) 재현주기 50년 지진에 대해 실험과 해석이 매우 유사한 탄성거동을 보였다. 반면 우리나라의 설계지진과 최대지진에 대해서는 비선형 거동을 보이긴 하지만 실험의 최대응답과 강성 및 강도 저하를 제대로 모사하지 못하였다. 이의 주된 이유는 슬라브 거동을 탄성으로 가정하였기 때문이라고 판단된다. (2) 탄성영역 거동에 대해 해석모델이 전체 거동을 비교적 잘 모사하는 반면, 벽체 상호간에 걸친 힘의 분포에 있어서 실험과 상당한 차이를 보여주었다. (3) 최대지진에서 벽체의 전단변형은 비교적 잘 모사한 반면 휨변형의 경우 10배정도 과장되었다. 이는 일부 해석모델에서 인방보를 무시한 결과로 추정된다.

  • 점토 지반 위에 상부 구조물이 축조되면 지반의 성질, 하중의 종류와 크기 등에 따라 즉각적인 침하가 생기고 어떤 형태의 접지압 분포가 이루어진다. 그러나 이후 시간의 경과와 더불어 2차적인 압밀침하가 추가되면 상부구조의 휨 강성 때문에 이 2차적인 추가 곡률에 대한 저항이 있다. 따라서 접지압 분포에 변화가 있게 되고 이 접지압 분포의 변화 때문에 압밀침하가 달라지며 압밀침하가 달라지면 다시 접지압 분포에 변화가 있게 되고 다시 압밀침하가 변하는 등의 하부지반과 상부구조와의 상호작용을 압밀침하가 끝날 때까지 계속하므로 지반 압밀 문제를 선형적으로 규명할 수 없다. 이 연구에서는 유한요소법으로 이 비선형 상호작용 문제의 근사적인 해석법을 시도하고 있다.

Seismic Performance of Wind-Designed Diagrid Tall Steel Buildings in Regions of Moderate Seismicity and Strong Wind

  • This study analytically evaluated the seismic performance of wind-designed diagrid tall steel buildings in regions of moderate/low seismicity and strong winds. To this end, diagrid tall steel buildings with varying wind exposure and slenderness ratio (building height-to-width ratio) conditions were designed to satisfy the wind serviceability criteria specified in the Korean Building Code and the National Building Code of Canada. A series of seismic analyses were then performed for earthquakes having 43- and 2475- year return periods utilizing the design guidelines of tall buildings. The analyses demonstrated the good seismic performance of these wind-designed diagrid tall steel buildings, which arises because significant overstrength of the diagrid system occurs in the wind design procedure. Also, analysis showed that the elastic seismic design process of diagrid tall steel buildings might be accepted based on some wind exposures and slenderness ratios.

  • To improve the durability of a hydrogen pressure vessel which is applied high-pressure, it needs the autofrettage process which induces compressive residual stress in the Aluminum liner. This study presents the elasto-plastic analysis to predict the behavior of structure accurately, and the Tsai-Wu failure criterion is applied to predict failure of pressure vessel of Aluminum liner and composite materials. Generally, plastic analysis is more complex than elastic analysis and has much time to predict. To complement its weakness, the AxicomPro(EXCEL program), applied radial return algorithm and nonlinear classical laminate theory (CLT), is developed for predicting results with more simple and accurate than the existing finite element analysis programs.

축임물의 경도에 따른 평판인쇄잉크의 유동성 변화 (Rheological Properties According to the Hardness of Dampening solution for Lithographic Ink)

  • The emulsification of lithographic printing inks are very important to determine printing quality. In this study, we measured the variation of water pickup according to the hardness of water in dampening solution. In order to observe the rheorogical properties of the emulsified inks, we measured the viscosity, the elastic return, the thixotropy area and yield stress value of the emulsified inks. In this paper, we found that the water pickup of the ink increase the hardness of water with the amount of dampening solution. Also, The viscosity, the yield stress value and the thixotropy area were increase by the water pickup of the ink.

Ductility-based design approach of tall buildings under wind loads

  • The wind design of buildings is typically based on strength provisions under ultimate loads. This is unlike the ductility-based approach used in seismic design, which allows inelastic actions to take place in the structure under extreme seismic events. This research investigates the application of a similar concept in wind engineering. In seismic design, the elastic forces resulting from an extreme event of high return period are reduced by a load reduction factor chosen by the designer and accordingly a certain ductility capacity needs to be achieved by the structure. Two reasons have triggered the investigation of this ductility-based concept under wind loads. Firstly, there is a trend in the design codes to increase the return period used in wind design approaching the large return period used in seismic design. Secondly, the structure always possesses a certain level of ductility that the wind design does not benefit from. Many technical issues arise when applying a ductility-based approach under wind loads. The use of reduced design loads will lead to the design of a more flexible structure with larger natural periods. While this might be beneficial for seismic response, it is not necessarily the case for the wind response, where increasing the flexibility is expected to increase the fluctuating response. This particular issue is examined by considering a case study of a sixty-five-story high-rise building previously tested at the Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel Laboratory at the University of Western Ontario using a pressure model. A three-dimensional finite element model is developed for the building. The wind pressures from the tested rigid model are applied to the finite element model and a time history dynamic analysis is conducted. The time history variation of the straining actions on various structure elements of the building are evaluated and decomposed into mean, background and fluctuating components. A reduction factor is applied to the fluctuating components and a modified time history response of the straining actions is calculated. The building components are redesigned under this set of reduced straining actions and its fundamental period is then evaluated. A new set of loads is calculated based on the modified period and is compared to the set of loads associated with the original structure. This is followed by non-linear static pushover analysis conducted individually on each shear wall module after redesigning these walls. The ductility demand of shear walls with reduced cross sections is assessed to justify the application of the load reduction factor "R".

Implicit 수치적분 방법을 이용한 조립토에 관한 구성방정식의 수행 (Implicit Numerical Integration of Two-surface Plasticity Model for Coarse-grained Soils)

  • 탄소성 구성방정식은 주로 미분방적식(rate equation)으로 이루어져 있기 때문에 유한요소법 등을 이용한 지반구조물 해석시 미분방정식들에 대한 수치적분을 수행할 수 있는 방법이 필요하다. 구조물의 거동을 해석할시 미분방정식들을 위한 적분방법은 해석결과의 정확성과 유한요소법 모델링의 안전성에 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 본 논문에서는 최근에 개발되어 사용되고 있는 흙에 관한 구성모델인 "Two-surface soil plasticity model (Manzari and Dafalias 1997)"을 Implicit return-mapping 수치적분방법을 이용하여 실행하는 과정을 제시한다. 본 연구에서 사용된 수치적분방법은 Closest-Point-Projection Method(CPPM) 방법으로 탄성 예측자-소성 교정자(elastic predictor-plastic corrector) 개념을 Implicit Backward Euler방법으로 체계화 시킨 알고리듬이다. 본 연구에서 수행한 "Two-surface soil plasticity model"은 조립토의 비선형거동을 해석하며, Bounding surface 개념 및 비선형 등방경화와 이동경화법칙을 사용하는 모델이다. 본 연구는 CPPM 방법이 정확하고 안정되며 유용한 수치적분을 수행할 수 있는 알고리듬이라는 것을 제시한다. 또한, CPPM 알고리듬은 구성방정식의 해를 반복적으로 해석하는 동안 "Consistent tangent operator $d{\sigma}/d{\varepsilon}$"를 제공하므로, 비선형 유한요소 해석이 2차(quadratic convergence rate)의 수렴 조건을 만족하는데 기여한다는 것을 보여준다.

Wind load effects and equivalent static wind loads of three-tower connected tall buildings based on wind tunnel tests

  • Due to the significant aerodynamic interference from sub-towers and surrounding tall buildings, the wind loads and dynamic responses on main tower of three-tower connected tall building typically change especially compared with those on the isolated single tall building. This paper addresses the wind load effects and equivalent static wind loads (ESWLs) of three-tower connected tall building based on measured synchronous surface pressures in a wind tunnel. The variations of the global shape coefficients and extremum wind loads of main tower structure with or without interference effect under different wind directions are studied, pointing out the deficiency of the traditional wind loads based on the load codes for the three-tower connected tall building. The ESWLs calculation method based on elastic restoring forces is proposed, which completely contains the quasi-static item, inertia item and the coupled effect between them. Then the wind-induced displacement and acceleration responses for main tower of three-tower connected tall building in the horizontal and torsional directions are investigated, subsequently the structural basal and floor ESWLs under different return periods, wind directions and damping ratios are studied. Finally, the action mechanism of interference effect on structural wind effects is investigated. Main conclusions can provide a sientific basis for the wind-resistant design of such three-tower connected tall building.

Comparison of the Korean and US Stock Markets Using Continuous-time Stochastic Volatility Models

  • We estimate three continuous-time stochastic volatility models following the approach by Aït-Sahalia and Kimmel (2007) to compare the Korean and US stock markets. To do this, the Heston, GARCH, and CEV models are applied to the KOSPI 200 and S&P 500 Index. For the latent volatility variable, we generate and use the integrated volatility proxy using the implied volatility of short-dated at-the-money option prices. We conduct MLE in order to estimate the parameters of the stochastic volatility models. To do this we need the transition probability density function (TPDF), but the true TPDF is not available for any of the models in this paper. Therefore, the TPDFs are approximated using the irreducible method introduced in Aït-Sahalia (2008). Among three stochastic volatility models, the Heston model and the CEV model are found to be best for the Korean and US stock markets, respectively. There exist relatively strong leverage effects in both countries. Despite the fact that the long-run mean level of the integrated volatility proxy (IV) was not statistically significant in either market, the speeds of the mean reversion parameters are statistically significant and meaningful in both markets. The IV is found to return to its long-run mean value more rapidly in Korea than in the US. All parameters related to the volatility function of the IV are statistically significant. Although the volatility of the IV is more elastic in the US stock market, the volatility itself is greater in Korea than in the US over the range of the observed IV.

볼트 수직이음 PHC말뚝와 용접이음 PHC말뚝의 이음부 거동 비교 (Comparison of Splices between Bolts and Welding Spliced PHC Piles)

  • 볼트 수직이음 PHC말뚝 및 용접이음 PHC말뚝에 대한 휨강도시험을 실시하여 각 이음 PHC말뚝의 성능을 비교 분석하였다. $200N{\cdot}m$이상의 토크치로 체결한 볼트 수직이음 PHC말뚝에서는 가장 낮은 하중단계인 20kN에서도 볼트 수직이음구에서 좌우로 꺾인 변형 양상(직선 v형 라인)이 나타났으며 PHC말뚝 본체는 완전한 직선 형태를 유지하고 있었으므로 볼트 수직이음 PHC말뚝은 말뚝의 가장 중요한 성능인 일체화 거동을 하지 않았다. 체결토크가 풀린 즉, $20N{\cdot}m$의 토크치로 체결한 볼트 수직이음 PHC말뚝은 각 하중 단계에서 이음부위에 대하여 양쪽으로 대칭된 직선 V형 상태의 변위 양상을 나타내고 있었다. 각 하중 단계에서 하중 제거 시 이음말뚝은 하중 재하 전의 상태로 돌아가지 않았으므로 탄성 재료 거동을 나타내지도 않았다. 재하단계에 따른 이음부 변위 및 재하 하중 제거 후의 잔류 변위, 이음 PHC말뚝의 파괴하중 및 3가지 기본 성능 등을 비교한 결과 볼트 수직이음 PHC말뚝의 이음 품질은 용접이음 PHC말뚝의 이음 품질에 크게 미달하였다. 따라서 $200N{\cdot}m$ 이상의 토크치로 체결한 볼트 수직이음 PHC말뚝이나 체결토크가 풀린 볼트 수직이음 PHC말뚝은 이음말뚝의 기본 성능에 크게 미달하는 것으로 나타났다.
