To study the possibility of F.E.M application to vibration and shock response of double stage elastic mounting system with complicated damped foundation structure like common-bed or raft in ships foundation structure model which has complicated damped sandwich cross-section is analyzed first. And then vibration responses experimental results and shock response of double stage elastic mounting system with complicated damped foundation structure like common-bed or raft in ships foundation structure model which adopts the above damped structure as intermediate foundation were compared. As a result it is found that F.E.M could be effectively used in analyzing the vibration and shock response of double and multi-stage elastic mounting system with complicated damped foundation structures.

The free vibration characteristics of fluid-filled cylindrical shells on partial elastic foundations are investigated by an analytical method. The cylindrical shell is fully or partially surrounded by the elastic foundations, these are represented by the Winkler or Pasternak model. The motion of shell is represented by the first order shear deformation theory to account for rotary inertia and transverse shear strains. The steady flow of fluid is described by the classical potential flow theory. The fluid-structure interaction is considered in the analysis. The effect of internal fluid can be considered by imposing a relation between the fluid pressure and the radial displacement of the structure at the interface. To validate the present method, the numerical example is presented and compared with the available existing results.

In this study, the leaflet motion of a mechanical heart valve and the characteristics of two-dimensional transient blood flow in an elastic blood vessel have been numerically investigated by using fluid-structure interaction method. Here, blood has been assumed as a Newtonian, incompressible fluid. Pressure profiles have been used as boundary conditions at the ventricle and the aorta. As a result, closing motion of the leaflet is faster than opening one. While opening angles of leaflet grow up, vortex is detected at the sinus and backward of the leaflets. When the leaflet is fully closed, vortex is detected at the ventricle and at that moment maximum displacement of the elastic blood vessel is observed in the vicinity of the sinus region. Maximum displacement is caused in association with the blood flow that is oriented toward the elastic blood vessel.
Finite element analysis (FEA) and experimental studies on an elastic bending method have been performed in order to control the angular distortion at the fillet weldment for curved panel. Process parameters for the elastic bending method such as clamping span and release time were analyzed with reference to welding condition and geometric effect of the curved panel, which can minimize or prevent the angular distortion by producing a proper skin stress to the fillet weldment. The amounts of the angular distortion decrease almost in a linear manner with an increase in the skin stress. The skin stress required for non-angular distortion at the fillet weldment is strongly dependent on the plate thickness, not the heat intensity applied. The clamping span for obtaining uniform skin stress was defined as functions of the plate thickness and length of the free edge. Clamp should be removed after the fillet weldment is cooled down to room temperature for non-angular distortion. Effectiveness of the elastic bending method established was verified by its application to an actual curved panel.
Elastic wave scattering from an acoustically rigid or soft object is studied and compared with the acoustic wave scattering. The behavior of phases as well as magnitudes of partial waves and their total summation of scattered wave are numerically analyzed and discussed. The effect of mode conversion, which occurs between longitudinal and transversal waves in elastic wave scattering. on the magnitudes and phases of scattered waves is identified.

This paper describes a synthesized photoelastic method developed for the visualization and evaluation of sound pressure distribution of elastic wave in a solid. The visualization of wave stress field is achieved by synthesizing two photoelastic pictures, in which the direction of the principal axis of linear polariscopes differs by $45^{\circ}$. From the analysis of the wave stress distribution using this method, it is possible to evaluate the characteristics of elastic waves in a solid, such as the intensity of stress, directivity and resolution characteristics of the wave emitted from a commercial probe, and characteristics of scattering from various types of defects.

In recent years, mechanical systems such as high speed vehicles and railway trains moving on elastic beam structures have become a very important issue to consider. In this paper, a general approach, which can predict the dynamic behavior of a constrained mechanical system moving on a flexible beam structure, is proposed. Various supporting conditions for the foundation support are considered for the elastic beam structure. The elastic structure is assumed to be a non-uniform and linear Bernoulli-Euler beam with a proportional damping effect. Combined differential-algebraic equation of motion is derived using the multi-body dynamics theory and the finite element method. The proposed equations of motion can be solved numerically using the generalized coordinate partitioning method and predictor-corrector algorithm, which is an implicit multi-step integration method.
The problem of a semi-infinite magneto-electro-elastically impermeable mode-III crack in a magneto-electro-elastic material is considered under the action of impact loads. For the case when a pair of concentrated anti-plane shear impacts, electric displacement and magnetic induction impacts are exerted symmetrically on the upper and lower surfaces of the crack, the magneto-electro-elastic field ahead of the crack tip is determined in explicit form. The dynamic intensity factors and dynamic energy density factor are obtained. The method adopted is to reduce the mixed initial-boundary value problem, by using the Laplace and Fourier transforms, into three simultaneous dual integral equations, one of which is converted into an Abel's integral equation and the others into a singular integral equation with Cauchy kernel. Based on the obtained fundamental solutions of point impact loads, the solutions of two kinds of different loading cases are evaluated by integration. For some particular cases, the present results reduce to the previous results.

The elastic effects of the valve train components are analyzed by using the finite element models of the rocker arm and valve. The whole equations of motion of the valvetrain of an internal combustion engine formulated by finite element techniques are solved by imposing the contact conditions with the augmented Lagrange multiplier method. The velocity and acceleration constraints as well as the displacement constraints are imposed on the contact points. The numerical simulations show that, even if the magnitude of the elastic deformation of the components is very small, it may have large effects on the valvetrain dynamics of a high-speed engine.
This article deals with the buckling behaviour of multilayered magneto-electro-elastic (MEE) plate subjected to uniaxial and biaxial compressive (in-plane) loads. The constitutive equations of MEE material are used to derive a finite element (FE) formulation involving the coupling between electric, magnetic and elastic fields. The displacement field corresponding to first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) has been employed. The in-plane stress distribution within the MEE plate existing due to the enacted force is considered to be equivalent to the applied in-plane compressive load in the pre-buckling range. The same stress distribution is used to derive the potential energy functional. The non-dimensional critical buckling load is accomplished from the solution of allied linear eigenvalue problem. Influence of stacking sequence, span to thickness ratio, aspect ratio, load factor and boundary condition on critical buckling load and their corresponding mode shape is investigated. In addition, static deflection of MEE plate under the sinusoidal and the uniformly distributed load has been studied for different stacking sequences and boundary conditions.
