An experimental investigation or the sonic and supersonic air ejector systems has beer conducted to develop design and prediction programs for practical ejector system. Five different primary nozzles have been employed to operate the ejector systems in the ranges of low and moderate operating pressure ratios. The ejector operating pressure ratio for the secondary chamber pressure to be minimized has a strong influence of the ejector throat ratio. The pressure inside the ejector diffuser is not dependent on the primary nozzle configurations employed but only a function of the ejector operating pressure ratio. Experimental results show that a supersonic ejector system is more desirable for obtaining high vacuum pressure of the secondary chamber than a sonic ejector system.
The ejector system is used for making a vacuum in an enclosed tank. This research represents the method to improve ejector performance by inserting a strut at the center of ejector outlet. This proposed ejector system is so simple and have a low cost to improve the ejector performance. There are many kinds of method for obtaining a lower vacuum pressure. The ejector is consists of nozzle, straight pipe and outlet diffuser and we focused on the outlet diffuser for high ejector performance. The strut is located at the center of ejector outlet diffuser. As the experimental result, we compared the vacuum pressure with and without a strut and without strut, and the ejector performance showed an improvement with 40% or more than the case without strut. This means that the stable fluid low energy loss was obtained by inserting the strut.
This study has been conducted to develop an ejector system applied in the aircraft engine-bay ventilation system. Tandem-Ejector was selected as a component of ventilation system because it could achieve high ventilation performance in spite of motive flow with small flow rate. Tandem-Ejector is composed of a primary nozzle and two mixing ducts ($1^{st}$ mixing duct and $2^{nd}$ mixing duct). In this study, 1-D Tandem-Ejector model has been built with conservation laws and isentropic relation for 1-D ejector sizing and performance prediction. Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD) has been conducted to investigate ejector performance and flow characteristics in the ejector. Also, Tandem-Ejector performance tests have been conducted to obtain ejector pumping performance and to investigate stand-off (gap between primary nozzle and $1^{st}$ mixing duct inlet) effect on ejector pumping performance.
A cone cylinder is used to obtain variable operation conditions for the sonic ejector-diffuser system. The cone cylinder is designed to move upstream and downstream to change the ejector throat area ratio, thus obtaining variable mass flow rates. The present study investigates the effects of ejector throat area ratio and operating pressure ratio on the entrainment of secondary stream for the variable sonic ejector system. In experiment, the ejector throat area is varied in the range from ${\psi}=11.88$ to 66.69, and the operating pressure ratio from $p_{0p}/p_a=1.25$ to 9.0. The results show that the variable sonic ejector system is suitable for a required entrainment ratio of secondary stream by altering the ejector throat area ratio and operating pressure ratio.
It is essential to operate chemical lasers with supersonic ejector system as the laser output power goes up. In this research, ejector design parameter study was carried out for optimal ejector design through understanding the ejector characteristics and design requirements for chemical lasers operating. Designed ejector was 3D annular type with 2$^{nd}$ -throat geometry and pressurized air was used for primary flow. Ejector design was carried out with two steps, quasi-1D gas dynamics was used for first design and commercial code was used to verify the first design. In this study, to get the effect of ejector geometry on its performance, three cases of primary nozzle area ratio and 2$^{nd}$ -throat cross sectional area and two cases of 2$^{nd}$ -throat L/D ratio experiments were carried out. Primary and secondary pressures were measured to get the mass flow rate ratio, minimum secondary pressure, ejector starting pressure and unstarting pressure at every case. In the result, better performance than design level was shown and optimal ejector design method for chemical lasers was obtained.
This paper presents formation of ejector-pin hollowness in injection molding. Injection molding process is widely used in production of plastic part for good dimensional accuracy and high productivity. However, the injection molding leaves ejector-pin hollowness on pal, which causes bad part surface and quality. Dimensions and profiles of ejector-pin hollowness are measured for formation or ejector-pin hollowness. The formation of ejector-pin hollowness is traced with dimensions and profiles of ejector-pin hollowness. The compression force and moment cause ejector-pin to form hollowness on part surface.
This paper dipicts the computational results for the axisymmetric subsonic/sonic ejector systems with a second throat. The numerical simulations are based on a fully implicit finite volume scheme of the compressible Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equation in a domain that extends form the stagnation chamber to the ejector diffuser exit. In order to obtain practical design factors for subsonic/sonic ejector systems, the ejector throat area, the mixing section configuration, and the ejector throat length were changed in computations. For the subsonic/sonic ejector systems operating in the range of low operation pressure ratio, the effects of the design factors on the flow are discussed.
In a fuel cell vehicle using polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell(PEMFC), hydrogen is over-supplied to gain higher stack efficiency. So it is needed considering fuel efficiency to re-circulate hydrogen which is not reacted in stack. And to re-circulate hydrogen, a blower or an ejector is used. Ejector re-circulation system has several merits compared with blower system, for example no parasite energy, simple structure and no lubrication system. But the secondary flow of an ejector in fuel cell vehicle, has high humidity because of crossover problem in stack. Therefore in this paper, ejector is designed by 1-D modeling and CFD with the primary and secondary flow of hydrogen. And the ejector which has the primary and secondary flow of air, is designed to have the same Reynolds number and Mach number at the nozzle exit as the hydrogen ejector's. And this air ejector is tested while the humidity of the secondary flow is varied.
A cone cylinder is used to obtain variable operation conditions for the sonic ejector-diffuser system. The cone cylinder is designed to be shifted upstream and downstream to change the ejector throat area ratio, thus obtaining variable mass flow rates. The present study investigates the effects of ejector throat area ratio and operating pressure ratio on the entrainment of secondary stream for the variable sonic ejector system. The study is carried out experimentally. The ejector throat area is varied at the range from Ψ= 11.88 to 66.69, and the operating pressure ratio is changed from $P_{op}$ / $P_{a}$=1.25 to 9.0. The results show that the variable sonic ejector system can be operated to obtain specific entrainment ratio of secondary stream by altering the ejector throat area ratio and operating pressure ratio.o.
