A Comparative Study on Fashion Design Education in Europe and Korea -Focus on the Educational Cases in the UK, France, Italy and Korea- (유럽과 한국의 패션디자인 교육에 관한 비교연구 -영국, 프랑스, 이태리, 한국의 교육사례를 중심으로-)

  • This study suggests the direction of fashion design education suitable for Korea by comparing the fashion design educational systems and the curricula of the main fashion institutions in Europe and those of some universities in Korea. For this, 6 fashion schools in UK, France and Italy and 12 four-year-course universities in Korea were sellected. At first, the educational systems of the nations above and the information about the selected institutions were examined through literature reviews. Then, case studies were performed about the curricula and the other characteristics of the selected fashion design courses by each website or leaflet as well as additional interviews with their course directors or graduates. The results of this study are as follow: First, Korean fashion design education system needs to be specialized and subdivided with a curriculum centered on fashion design. Second, a foundation course needs to be developed to raise a broad and creative approach for design as well as to discover each student's aptitude. Third, the curricula about design process and research methodology need to raise a problem-solving individual of ability. Fourth, a project-based fashion design education is required by a specialized education as well as multi-disciplinary programs. Fifth, an industry- related and market-based fashion design education is asked through internships, professional teaching staff, industry-sponsored projects, seminars and professional design critics. Sixth, English and technology needs to be added to the curricula to develop global professionals. Finally, a cultural fashion design education based on Korean identity is required to develop the Korean fashion industry into a higher value-added business.

Development of Education Information System for Parents of Children with Disability in Wire and Wireless Internet Environment (유ㆍ무선 인터넷 환경에서 장애아 부모를 위한 교육 정보 시스템의 개발)

  • For effective education of children with disability, education in school and home have to be performed consistently. That is, Schools have to inform parents of educational philosophy, management policy, instruction curriculum, school information of students with disability, and guidance methods thus consistent environment for education have to be provided at home. Furthermore, keeping close relation with school, parents have to solve problems occurred at home together. This paper aims to develop in educational information system from which parents could get useful information to guide their children. Our system was developed to be used in wireless internet environment using mobile phone as well as win internet using PC. Therefore, parents of children with disability could instantly get necessary information from it without restriction of time arid space.

  • To ensure the effective operation of a curriculum, facilities and equipments should be properly supported. Therefore, changes are required for educational facilities in accordance with the curriculum, revised 10 times in total from 1945 to 2011, but it's true that the facility and equipment laws, which are the standards of facility and equipment changes, did not adapt to the changes. After 'the Act on Standards of School Facilities' was repealed, 'the Act on Establishment and Operation of the Schools,' the corresponding law for the purpose of spatial configuration for teaching and learning methods, was enacted in Sept. 1997. This law has been active for 14 years and revised 11 times thereafter. It has also been decided to often revise the curriculum, so the 7th National curriculum has undergone 6 times of minor revisions. Among them, the most recently revised 2009 curriculum is to be applied for elementary school 1st and 2nd grade, middle school 1st grade, and high school 1st grade from the beginning of this year of 2011. Hereupon, the purpose of this study is to research on the revisions of the school facility and equipment standards which can support the curriculum revised in 2009 and thereafter by examining classrooms and facilities as the learning space that can respond to the changes of school functions and systems with curriculum transition, of teaching and learning systems, and of subjects.

  • In modern society, the organization of the educational process plays an important role in education. Traditionally, it is through communication and dialogue between the teacher and the student that professional competence is acquired. As society develops, the demand in the global labor market changes and the requirements and criteria for specialists increase. Therefore, a new approach to managing the pedagogical interaction between a teacher and a student in the process of education in a higher educational institution allows a positive impact on the system of training specialists and opens up new prospects for the formation of competitive specialists. The issue of the quality of education is a key one and is covered in the documents regulating the process of educational activities. Also an important problem today is the transition to qualitatively new and innovative systems of training specialists and the departure from outdated models of managing pedagogical interaction in higher education institutions. The process of managing the pedagogical interaction between a teacher and a student is one of the most important for studying in the context of higher education.   • Recently, with the development of mobile devices and social media services, contents recommendation schemes have been studied. They are typically applied to the job curation systems. Most existing university education content recommendation schemes only recommend the most frequently taken subjects based on the student's school and major. Therefore, they do not consider the type or field of employment that each student wants. In this paper, we propose a university educational contents recommendation scheme for job curation services. The proposed scheme extracts companies that a user is interested in by analyzing his/her activities in the job curation system. The proposed scheme selects graduates or mentors based on the reliability and similarity of graduates who have been employed at the companies of interest. The proposed scheme recommends customized subjects, comparative subjects, and autonomous activity lists to users through collaborative filtering.

Standardization Plan for Clinical Practice of the Physical Therapy Education in South Korea (대한민국 물리치료 임상실습 표준화 방안)

  • Purpose : This study aims to review the physical therapy training programs in the United States, Canada, Taiwan, and Japan, and propose standardization plan for clinical practice in physical therapy education to advance the development of physical therapy education in South Korea. Methods : This study investigates the clinical practice standards in advanced countries such as the United States and Canada, and refers to the clinical practice standards in Taiwan and Japan, which are members of the association of world phyisotherapy and have economic, cultural, educational, and healthcare delivery systems, as well as legal systems, similar to those of South Korea. Results : In the United States, physical therapy education programs allocate an average of 22 weeks and 880 hours for clinical practice. Foreign-trained physical therapists who wish to take the licensure exam in the United States must have their educational programs reviewed and recognized as having completed at least 1,000 hours of clinical practice. In Canada, physical therapy education programs allocate an average of 31 weeks and 1,240 hours for clinical practice. Taiwan allocates over 1,440 hours of clinical practice in its educational programs, while Japan requires 800 hours of clinical practice as a legal prerequisite for the licensure exam. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, the following standardization plan for clinical practice of the physical therapy education in South Korea are proposed. First, a minimum of 16 weeks and 640 hours of clinical practice is necessary to produce competent physical therapists. Second, university-based basic practical training should be at least 440 hours, with the introduction of a standardized accreditation system and unification of the four-year academic system. Third, the qualifications of physical therapists who supervise clinical practice in medical institutions should be clearly defined in the curriculum, and the standards for clinical practice instructors need to be expanded.

Proposing provisions of Standard Repair Method of Painting Work Defect by Lawsuit Case Study

  • Defect dispute in apartment building has become a debating social issue. The system of defect lawsuit and the conciliation process are applicable to solve defect problems in South Korea. Among various defects, painting work defect is a critical issue because it requires large area works and entails a lot of cost. Accordingly, disputes on work procedure and cost calculation are argued oftenly between residents and housing providers. This study reviewed detailed main issues of painting work and propose relevant systems and standards. In this analysis, the main issues are categorized into pre-works, main work, and others. The most recent cases are compared and analyzed for each issue. After the analysis, following conclusions are obtained, (1) In defect lawsuit system, even though surface treatment work in pre-work step is part of main work, it has been separated and regarded as a separate work. (2) Although the main painting work are not significantly different from two systems, it is still necessary to achieve a consensus to close the gap in the methodology of painting area calculation and determining whole painting or partial painting. (3) In addition, unlike the profit rate of general construction works, that of painting work remained the maximum rate and additional charge rate for works carried out in higher place are different among cases. Therefore, it is determined that establishing consistent standards is urgent.

  • Educational games offer an opportunity to engage and inspire students to take an interest in every subject material in school. The "fun" obtain when playing games become a trigger for the use of games in learning. However, there are doubts whether the players actually learn while they are having fun. Vidyanusa is an Online Mathematics Education Game being developed by Crayonpedia Education Ecosystem in Indonesia. The learning goal of Vidyanusa is to engage junior high school students in learning mathematics. In this paper, we design the Vidyanusa game material Functions and Relations by using Balanced Design Approach. This approach has three models in succession; the Content Model outlines the purpose of the game, the Task Model maps out the mission, and the Evidence Model outlines student measurement. This paper will then discusses the quality of games produced in term of Usability factor for effective results and objective. The measurement of the game was carried out based on International Standard ISO/IEC 9126-1 FDIS about Software Quality Product.

A Study on the using of the Ventilation System as the Method of Improvement of Air Quality in the Schools (학교건물의 공기질 개선을 위한 환기시스템 적용에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study concerns the improvement of air quality in school classrooms. Polluted indoor air is improved by efficient ventilation systems. So it is important to measure the amount of ventilation needed in classrooms. First, the amount of natural ventilation were measured through a tracer gas method. And we have established a heat recovery ventilation system from 4 cases of airflow in classrooms, and we have measured the change of $CO_2$ density. According to air quality measurements in the classrooms, the density of $CO_2$ is well above environmental standards which are acceptable. When the amount of ventilated airflow increases, indoor air quality is improved. It is surveyed that the most suitable amount of external inducted air is 770 CMH to satisfy $CO_2$ less than 1,000 ppm in classrooms. For improvement of air quality in classrooms, we must consider a suitable ventilation plan and installation of ventilation systems when constructing school buildings.

  • Along with the advance of Information technology and the introduction of the information era, cyber education through the internet has been activated in universities and private educational organization. However, most cyber education is not being practically applied in government employ. This study looks at the influential factors of cyber education in order to create a cyberspace where the public official can obtain information at a place and time convenient to them. This will provide a chance to activate cyber education effectively. The hypothesis was approved through multiple regression analysis was executed in order to explain and predict the relationship between influential factors and cyber education effects. The results of the study show the influential factors of education effect as follows: - the instruction design and contents factors such as interesting educational contents, interaction between leamers and teacher, and positive instruction, all had an important influence. - the learner factors, such as a desire to leam, motivation, and interest in the lesson, also had a significant influence. - the environmental factors such as systematical basis and support, atmosphere, and consideration of others had a large effect on the education effect.
