The Study on the Need and Related Policy for Work-Family Balance in the Area of Educare and School: Focused on the Dual Worker Families (일-가정 균형을 위한 보육 및 학교 영역에서의 요구도와 정책: 맞벌이 가정을 중심으로)

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze the needs for the balance of work-family and to provide the related policies for dual worker family. We focused on the life area of educare and school. Data were collected from 197 working mothers who have 1 or more children under age 10. The findings were: 1) after-school programs, holidays on every alternate Saturday, arbitrary no school days were not appropriate to the working parents' everyday life patterns, so the paradigm and practical conditions should be adapted to the needs of working parents. 2) the most working parents depended on the kindergarden, but the parents' satisfaction with the quality of service, time duration, the human resource of educare teacher was not sufficient, so these issues should be discussed more profoundly.

Study on the Psychological Well-Being of Employed Married Women with Children in Early Childhood - Focused on family and social support system variables - (유아기 자녀를 둔 취업여성의 심리적 복지에 관한 연구 -가족 및 사회지원체제 변인을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to find factors affecting the psychological well-being of married working women in Seoul. For this purpose, survey data form 332 employed married women residing in Seoul are used to evaluate the relative effects of Psychological well-being of married working women. Survey questions included demographic information, housework and child-rearing related variables, work related variables, variables related with social support systems, items on child care services for the preschoolers, and psychological well-being of married working women. The major findings were as follows: 1) The psychological well-being of married working women score is 36.14(mean score is 32). The difference between the psychological well-being of married working women varied this according to socio-demographic variables: educational level, income level, spouse's support, occupation, and job satisfaction. 2) The factors that affected psychological well-bing were amount of household labor by husband, job satisfaction, socio-support systems, and educare service satisfaction. 3) The factor that had the most significant impact on the psychological well-being of married working women is job satisfaction. It is suggested to utilize the Employment Assistant Program to establish friendly working environment for married women.

The Differences in Teacher Efficacy According to the Perception and Practices of Peers' Supervision in Day Care Center (어린이집 동료장학의 인식과 실태에 따른 교사효능감의 차이)

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to find out any differences in teacher efficacy according to the perception and practices of the peers' supervision in day care centers, and to improve the effectiveness of teachers and the quality educare. Methods: The subjects were 301 teachers at daycare centers in Gyeonggi Province who are working at public, private, workplace and home daycare centers. The instruments used were questionnaire concerning the perceptions and practices of peers' supervision in day care centers, and the teacher efficacy instrument. Results: The differences in teacher efficacy according to the perception of peers' supervision were significant, depending on the level of perception, willingness to participate, need and satisfaction, and sub-area of the main view. And, the differences in teacher efficacy according to the practices of peers' supervision were significant, depending on the numbers received, gave and implementated, the implementators, and the type of peers' supervision. Conclusion/Implications: This can be a clear benefit for stimulating peer's supervision. This study can greatly benefit the quality of day care service and improve teacher's professionalism.
