One of the most important issues in structural systems is evaluation of the margin of safety in low and mid-rise buildings against the progressive collapse mechanism due to the earthquake loads. In this paper, modeling of collapse propagation in structural elements of RC frame buildings is evaluated by tracing down the collapse points in beam and column structural elements, one after another, under earthquake loads and the influence of column removal is investigated on how the collapse expansion in beam and column structural members. For this reason, progressive collapse phenomenon is studied in 3-story and 5-story intermediate moment resisting frame buildings due to the corner and edge column removal in presence of the earthquake loads. In this way, distribution and propagation of the collapse in progressive collapse mechanism is studied, from the first element of the structure to the collapse of a large part of the building with investigating and comparing the results of nonlinear time history analyses (NLTHA) in presence of two-component accelograms proposed by FEMA_P695. Evaluation of the results, including the statistical survey of the number and sequence of the collapsed points in process of the collapse distribution in structural system, show that the progressive collapse distribution are special and similar in low-rise and mid-rise RC buildings due to the simultaneous effects of the column removal and the earthquake loads and various patterns of the progressive collapse distribution are proposed and presented to predict the collapse propagation in structural elements of similar buildings. So, the results of collapse distribution patterns and comparing the values of collapse can be utilized to provide practical methods in codes and guidelines to enhance the structural resistance against the progressive collapse mechanism and eventually, the value of damage can be controlled and minimized in similar buildings.

In this study, we develop a novel high-throughput micronanopatterning system that can implement continuous mechanical pattern inscribing on flexible substrates using a rigid grating mold edge. We perform a conceptual design of the process principle, specific modeling, and buildup of a real system prototype. This research also carefully addresses several important issues related to processing and controlling, including precision motion, alignment, heating, and sensing to enable a successful micronanopatterning in a continuous and high-speed fashion. Various micronanopatterns with the desired profiles can be created by tuning the mold shape, temperature, force, and substrate material toward many potential applications involving electronics, photonics, displays, light sources, and sensors, which typically require a large-area and flexible configurations.

BPMN is a standard business process description notation developed by OMG. It allows the user to have an abstract view of a process that hides its details with the Collapsed Sub-Process notation. While it is a useful direction of abstraction that can be called the horizontal abstraction, a different kind of abstraction, the vertical abstraction, is necessary when different stakeholders of business would like to have different views of the business process form their own viewpoints of interest. For example, stakeholders may want to see a process from the viewpoint of a particular group of actors or from the viewpoint of a certain set of goals. This paper first extends horizontal abstraction capability of BPMN by introducing the notion of super edge and, moreover, adds the vertical abstraction capability to it by introducing the notions of 'aspect attribute' and 'interest specification' and notations for them.
This paper proposes a new mesh simplification algorithm using differential error metric. Many simplification algorithms make use of a distance error metric, but it is hard to measure an accurate geometric error for the high-curvature region even though it has a small distance error measured in distance error metric. This paper proposes a new differential error metric that results in unifying a distance metric and its first and second order differentials, which become tangent vector and curvature metric. Since discrete surfaces may be considered as piecewise linear approximation of unknown smooth surfaces, theses differentials can be estimated and we can construct new concept of differential error metric for discrete surfaces with them. For our simplification algorithm based on iterative edge collapses, this differential error metric can assign the new vertex position maintaining the geometry of an original appearance. In this paper, we clearly show that our simplified results have better quality and smaller geometry error than others.

Internet of Things technology is rapidly developing due to the recent development of information and communication technology. IoT technology utilizes various sensors to generate unique data from each sensor, enabling diagnosis of system status. However, the equipment management system currently in effect is a post-preservation concept in which administrators must deal with the problem after the problem occurs, which could mean system reliability and availability problems due to system errors, and could result in economic losses due to negative productivity disruptions. Therefore, this study confirmed that edge controller control decision algorithms for more efficient operation of rectifiers in the factory by applying intelligent IoT (AIoT) technology and domain knowledge-based modeling for each sensor data collected based on this, outputting appropriate status messages for each scenario.

This study focused on understanding the relationship between the design of a tunnel boring machine disc cutter ring and its rock-breaking efficiency, as well as the applicable conditions of different cutter ring types. The discrete element method was used to establish a numerical model of the rock-breaking process using disc cutters with different ring types to reveal the development of rock damage cracks and variation in cutter penetration load. The calculation results indicate that a sharp-edged (V-shaped) disc cutter penetrates a rock mass to a given depth with the lowest load, resulting in more intermediate cracks and few lateral cracks, which leads to difficulty in crack combination. Furthermore, the poor wear resistance of a conventional V-shaped cutter can lead to an exponential increase in the penetration load after cutter ring wear. In contrast, constant-cross-section (CCS) disc cutters have the highest quantity of crack extensions after penetrating rock, but also require the highest penetration loads. An arch-edged (U-shaped) disc cutter is more moderate than the aforementioned types with sufficient intermediate and lateral crack propagation after cutting into rock under a suitable penetration load. Additionally, we found that the cutter ring wedge angle and edge width heavily influence cutter rock-breaking efficiency and that a disc cutter with a 16 to 22 mm edge width and 20° to 30° wedge angle exhibits high performance. Compared to V-shaped and U-shaped cutters, the CCS cutter is more suitable for soft or medium-strength rocks, where the penetration load is relatively small. Additionally, two typical case studies were selected to verify that replacing a CCS cutter with a U-shaped or optimized V-shaped disc cutter can increase cutting efficiency when encountering hard rocks.
The purpose of this research is to study the excellence and originality of the Joseon artillery(Jungwan-gu) through an effective restoration. Jungwan-gu that was used during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592 was able to maintain its maritime dominance based on cutting-edge technology of its time. Joeson artillery(Jungwan-gu) was used in major naval/land battles during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592 and is an important cultural heritage that provides a glimpse into Joeson people's will to defend the nation from foreign invasion. For further historical verification such as operational method of Jungwan-gu, extensive research in various fields including size, proportions, structure, materials, and casting method were required. Accordingly, for a more effective research on Jungwan-gu, cutting-edge technologies such as 3D scanning and 3D printing were utilized. Firstly, 3D scanning, modeling, and printing technology were applied to identify the morphological characteristics of Jungwan-gu. Through this, we were able to reach our research objective of identifying the size, internal structure, and proportionality of Jungwan-gu. In addition, by studying the form, operation, casting methods, and other characteristics, the restoration of Jungwan-gu provided us with an important opportunity to verify the dominance and originality of the Joeson era's science and technology during the Japanese Invasion of 1592. This reaserch subject participated in the "4th 3D printing BIZCON Contest" and won the Minister Prize of Science and Technology Information and Communication.
Resistivity method is a practical and effective geophysical technique to detect leakage zones in embankment dams. Generally, resistivity survey conducted along the crest assumes that the embankment dam has a 2D structure. However, the 3D topography of embankments distorts significantly resistivity data measured on anywhere of the dam. In this study, we analyse the influence from 3D effects created by specific dam geometry through the 3D finite element modeling technique. We compared 3D effects when resistivity surveys are carried out on the upstream slope, left edge of the crest, center of the crest, right edge of the crest and downstream slope. We ensure that 3D effect is greatly different according to the location of the survey line and data obtained on the downstream slope are most greatly influenced by 3D dam geometry. Also, resistivity data are more influenced by the electrical resistivity of materials constituting reservoir than 3D effects due to specific dam geometry. Furthermore, using resistivity data synthesized with 3D modeling program for an embankment dam model with leakage zone, we analyse the possibility of leakages detection from 2D resistivity surveys performed along the embankment dam.
