  • The purpose of this study was to compare the perspective of marriage and preferences of wedding dress design for female college students in Korea and China. To this end, a questionnaire was administered for 191 Korean female college students and 199 Chinese female college students in Korea. The data were analyzed using SPSS PC + 25.0, and the applied statistical techniques were reliability analysis, cross-tab analysis, and mean comparison analysis. For statistical verification, chi-square and t-test were used. The main research results are as follows. First, Korean female college students were more likely to marry than Chinese female college students. For the reason of wishing to marry, Chinese female college students were higher than Korean female college students in economic, life, and parent-related items. The reason for not wanting to get married is that Chinese female college students were high in worrying about their spouse, work, and their career. Second, the wedding dress design preferred by Korean and Chinese female college students was different in the neckline. Finally, the policy measures for consumer preference and satisfaction in the future wedding industry were discussed.

  • This study aims to find out the dimension of consumers' shopping values in internet clothing purchase, and the relation of their relational quality with shopping malls and their shopping behavior depending on the type of their shopping values. For this purpose, this study surveyed 343 male and female consumers in their 20s or 30s for empirical analysis who have ever purchased clothing through internet shopping malls. Respondents are selected using the convenience sampling through internet survey in July 2008. For statistical analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, ANOVA analysis, Duncan test, and $X^2$-test are carried out using SPSS for Windows 12.0. The results are as follows. First, consumers' shopping value dimensions in internet shopping for clothes are found 4 factors of fun, economic utility, information, and shopping convenience. Second, based on shopping value dimensions, consumers are categorized into an practicality-seeking, an economic utility/fun-seeking, a fun-seeking, and an information/fun-seeking group. Third, there are significant differences in relational quality, customer loyalty, favorable word of mouth, and repurchase intention depending on shopping value-based consumer types. In particular, the economic utility/fun-seeking and information/fun-seeking group have higher values on relational quality and shopping behavior variables than other groups. Thus internet shopping mall businesses need to recognize these group of consumers as their core customers and develop programs to maintain a long-term relationship with them.

  • Properties of statistical process control procedures may not be derived analytically in many cases; however, the application of a Markov chain can solve such problems. This article shows how to derive the properties of the process control procedures using the generated Markov chains when the control statistic satisfies the Markov property. Markov chain approaches that appear in the literature (such as the statistical design and economic design of the control chart as well as the variable sampling rate design) are reviewed along with the introduction of research results for application to a new control procedure and reset chart. The joint application of a Markov chain approach and analytical solutions (when available) can guarantee the correct derivation of the properties. A Markov chain approach is recommended over simulation studies due to its precise derivation of properties and short calculation times.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a large representative data base for jeans marketing strategy. This study was to survey brand awareness and analyze brand image and consumer's seeking image. The 700 questionnaires were distributed and 656 reliable ones were used for statistical analysis. A SAS statistical package including frequency table, factor analysis, analysis of variance, Duncan's multiple range test, Peason's correlation test was used. The results are as follows: 1. Brand awareness involves "brand recall" based on asking a person to name recalled first, and "brand recognition" based on asking to identify brand name from 30 given brands. The result indicated that "Levi" was dominant for brand recall and Guess was dominant for brand recognition. 2. Regarding the brand image, the result showed that "Vov" was best represented for sophisticated 8t trendy brand images, "Storm" for sophisticated brand image, "Jambangee" for reasonable price & comfortable brand images, and "Levis" for classic & design/color brand images. 3. As a result of factor analysis on consumer's seeking image, six factors(characteristic/gay, intelligent/sexy, feminine/sophisticated, active/functional, cute/young, simple/comfortable) were found. Several factors had a relationship with demographic variables, preferred design, fashion interest.

  • The purpose of this research was to examine the level and trends in household clothing expenditure in Korea. Raw data sets produced by the National Statistical Office from the Family Income and Expenditure Survey from 1991 to 2004 were used to support time-series and cross-sectional analyses. The clothing expenditures decreased severely and quickly during the economic crisis of late 1997 through 1998, then increased slowly after the economic crisis until 2003, only to slightly decrease again in 2004. The ratio of clothing expenditure to total household expenditure decreased from 8.03% in 1991 to 5.11% in 2004. This decrease in relative clothing expenditure was greater in the lower income group than in the middle and high income groups. Clothing expenditure patterns were unique and differed from other household expenditures. Although the economic crisis in the late 1990s affected Korean consumers' clothing expenditure, clothing expenditure patterns showed a more fundamental and structural change from 1991 to 2004, with the overall decrease in such expenditure resulting from the concurrent increase in educational and information-communication related expenditures. Clothing expenditure was shown to be luxurious through cross-sectional analysis, but necessary through time-series analysis.
