  • This paper investigates the influence of industrial activity volatility and exchange rate volatility on import container volume of the Korea during the 1999:1- 2010:9. Conditional variance from the GARCH(1, 1) model is applied as the volatility. The Johansen multivariate cointegration method and the error correction (general-to-specific) method are applied to study the relationship between import volume and its determinants. The empirical results show that volatility has statistically significant negative effect on import volume.

  • In this paper, I propose some policy and theoretical implications by analyzing moderating effects of volunteering activity in the causal relationships between social welfare major choice and their job choice. For the purpose of the goal of this study, I surveyed 242 university students in 2~4 grades majoring social welfare in Gwangju and South and North Jeolla Province. Analysis results showed that the personal motive on choosing a major affects the occupational aptitude & interests and economic feasibility of career when they choose their jobs. However, the social motive didn't affect the occupational aptitude & interests and economic feasibility of career. It means that they didn't choose their majors considering their aptitude & interests, but chose them by following the advice of the surrounding people. Also, moderating effects of volunteering activity was not significant, which means that volunteering period and schedules are too short and tend to be operated as a mere formality. This study suggests the policy implications so that they have the correct major selection and career options based on the analysis results.

  • The energy of the building is influenced by the user 's activity due to the population, society, and economic characteristics of the building user. In order to obtain accurate energy information, the difference in the amount of energy consumption by the activities and characteristics of building users should be identified. The purpose of the study is to identify the difference in the amount of energy consumption by the user's activities in the same building, and to analyse the relationship between user's activities and demographic, social and economic characteristics. For research, energy simulation is performed based on actual user activity schedule. The results of the simulation were clustered by using K-Means clustering, a machine learning technique. As a result, four types of users were derived based on the amount of energy consumption. The more energy used in a cluster, the lower the user's income level and older. The longer a user's indoor activity times, the higher the energy use, and these activities relate to the user's characteristics. There is more than twice the difference between the group that uses the least energy consumption and the group that uses the most energy consumption.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate and forecast the marine trading volumes based on the structural model. We employ GPH cointegration test since the structural model must be stationary to get the accurate predicted values. The empirical results show that our model is stationary. This paper also applies variance decompositions and impulse-response functions to the structural model composed of exchange rate, domestic industrial activity, and world business. The results indicate that while both loading and unloading volumes respond positively to the shocks in income and then decay very slowly, their responses are different to the shocks in exchange tate.

  • Many of the chiral NSAIDs are marketed as racemates. There is an increasing interest in developing the enantiomerically pure forms of the NSAIDs because the anti-inflammatory activity of NSAIDs have previously been shown to be largely sterospecific for the (S)-(+)-enantiomer. Therefore, simple and economic preparative method to identify the (S)-(+)-enantiomer of NSAIDs (aryl propionic acids) as diastereomeric solvation complex was developed using several chiral solvating agents by recrystallization of racemate and solvent fractionation.
