Currently, the nature and ecosystem's destruction by human beings and science is appearing as a serious problem. The possibility of ecological aesthetics is being sought as one of operations for new society in the contemporary society that the nature and ecosystem are getting attention, The present research aims to examine the characteristics and its expression method by setting the ecological aesthetics as an alternative of the future design. The history, meaning, mental image and image of Korean traditional Space forming the balance and harmony with the Nature, etc., which are important design concepts, were deduced as the beauty of emptiness, the beauty of a gap, the beauty of harmony and the beauty of changing and the beauty of simplicity as characteristics of experiencing space. If the deduced expression is examined through a case analysis of traditional housing, the characteristics trying to unite with the Nature while seeing ecology and aesthetics as one root, which the ecological aesthetics regarding as a root. The ecological arts based on the ecological aesthetics enters inside the universal life of human beings by examining the ecological and aesthetic characteristics appearing in Korean traditional Space, and the arts will move forward in a direction that its function and role link with maintenance of total ecosystem. The space application possibility and expression characteristics of ecological aesthetics should be continuously researched.

환경설계는 우리 사회의 생태적, 미적, 사회적 가치들의 조율을 추구하지만, 생태적 가치와 미적 가치는 쉽게 조율되기에는 복잡한 관계를 지닌다. 생태미학이라는 분야는 생태적으로 건강하고, 미적으로도 매력적인 경관설계를 그 목표로 경관의 지속가능성과 미학의 관계에 대해 탐구한다. 이러한 복잡한 관계를 다루는 학문 영역의 중요성에도 불구하고, 극히 일부의 연구들이 생태미학과 관련된 주제를 경험적 방법을 통해 연구했다. 본 연구는 생태미학의 기존 개념을 정리하고, 이를 연구방법론과 연결하고자 했다. 이를 위해 첫째, 경관과 대중의 인식과의 관계를 나타내는 개념적 틀을 생태 미학적 관점에서 재정의했다. 이 관계에서 특히 디자인 및 정보가 개입하여 나타나는 조절 효과에 대해 보여준다. 이 틀로부터 도출되는 세 가지 하위 주제는 다음과 같다. (1) 생태적 기능과 경관 선호도의 상호관계, (2) 경관중재: 생태적 기능도 보호하고, 미적 가치도 확보할 수 있는 절충된 디자인 전략, (3) 정보중재: 생태에 대한 정보가 미적 경험에 미치는 중재 효과가 그것이다. 세 가지 주제는 개념적 틀에서 보여지듯, 서로 영향을 주고받는 관계이며, 각 영역의 연구 시 다른 영역의 고려가 필요하다. 세 가지 하위 주제에 따라 기존의 이론적, 실증적 연구들을 방법론적 관점에서 검토하고, 한계를 지적하며, 보완 가능한 방법론 등을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 그 동안 해석적이고 이론적인 담론에 그쳐왔던 생태미학을 개념적 틀을 통해 정리하고, 각 영역을 넘어선 방법론적 고려를 제시함으로써 생태미학의 방법론을 보완하는데 그 의의가 있다.

20세기 후반부터 현재까지 지속가능성(sustainability)은 현재 인류의 생존과 웰빙에 관련된 가장 큰 화두일 것이다. 이에 대한 대응으로 조경을 포함한 환경설계 분야에서도 이 개념을 실천적으로 구현하기 위해 계속해서 다양한 시도가 이뤄지고 있다. 본 연구는 이렇게 급변하는 도시경관의 변화와 조경설계의 방법과 태도의 전환이 요구되는 시대에 "지속가능성"의 개념을 추구하기 위한 대안적인 설계이론으로 생태미학이라는 분야를 소개하고 재정의하고자 하였다. 본문에서는 생태미학의 필요성을 설명하기 위해서 조경설계에 있어서 미학의 역할과 지속가능한 경관과 미학의 관계에 대한 이론적 고찰을 하였다. 그리고 광범위한 문헌조사와 분석을 통해 생태미학의 특징을 정의하였는 데, 첫 번째는 경관체험에 있어서 인지적 과정을 강조, 두 번째는 환경주의자적인 가치관, 세 번째는 기존의 스타일로부터 해방, 네 번째로 설계에 있어서 규범적인 성격이 분석되었다. 이렇게 규명된 생태미학의 특징을 바탕으로 조경설계에 반영해야 하는 생태미학적 설계주제를 요약 및 논증하였다. 주 설계 개념인 "실제로 느낄 수 있는 자연"을 바탕으로 설계가 표현해야 할 다섯 가지 주제는 생태적 기능, 경관의 일시성, 역사성, 안전성, 접근성 등이며, 이와 못지않게 중요한 설계의 과제는 위 주제들을 예술적이며 친근하게 표현해야 하는 설계(가)의 창의성이라고 판단되며 차후 연구에서 심도 깊게 다뤄질 필요가 있다고 본다.

As for the green space construction of the modern parks, landscape design is not only for the aesthetics but its also to promote the spiritual connotation. The appearing of the exemplary type of ecological landscape reflects landscape architects have developed realization and wishes to improve the deteriorating environment and put them into practice. This paper introduces the basic intension of the exemplary type of ecological landscape, and discusses the relative background and ecological aesthetic foundation of the exemplary ecological landscape which appeared under the crisis of urban environment; lists the modern landscape designers practices of the exemplary ecological landscape; studies the developing trend of this practice which becomes multifold along with the reformation of city.

Environmental design should be based on the positive theory, a researcher structured symbolic aesthetics on the basis of positive perception theory. Symbolic aesthetics by ecological theory of perception, human preference is related to existence and the formation of place-identity and cognitive map is dealt importantly in this study. Symbolic aesthetics is a study on environmental meaning and a researcher understood the operation of environmental meaning by regarding symbology as a methodological frame and defined architecture as a visual language system after discussing the importance of signified.

Ecosystem and environment have been a serious challenge facing the modern society. It's been the new paradigm from ecological view of the world and the alternative based on Orientalism. From the Oriental standpoint, ecological aesthetics and sustainable architecture are no longer new, which then servers the background of this study. The nature and the space, the life where the human is harmonized and integrated and the wish to make the balance through that life are the basic philosophy which the Orientalism has pursued. Based on such a basic concept, the study is intended to review the connectivity, expression approach and the features in Korean traditional residential space based on previous studies on ecological aesthetics and sustainable architecture. Such attempt is meaningful in seeking the possibility of presenting the new frame as well as forming the various views to the traditional space and spatial recognition. The nature was categorized into tangible element and intangible element and also direct approach and indirect approach before evaluating the characteristics. Sustainable architecture is not the concept to simply maintain or sustain the environment, but plays more important role in economical aspect. Traditional space accommodates the nature and circulation principle and the circulation in the nature controls the energy and enhances the efficiency, playing significant role. The nature itself serves the alternative energy and has the aesthetic element in such a way of concealing itself. This study is intended to analyze the Byulseo Jeongwon which formed many relations with the nature and the residential space, thereby identifying the expression characteristics of eco-aesthetic sustainable architect. This study offers the answers with regard to the coexistence of the expression characteristics of sustainable architecture with the nature, space and the human from eco aesthetic viewpoint as well as the solution in dealing with the ecological and environmental challenges. Furthermore, it suggested the possibility that the traditional space would possibly be succeedable in new and creative way and sought the way for coexistence among the nature, space and human and eco aesthetics, and finally paved the pivotal foundation as the sustainable design alternative in future.

Fast industrialization caused from Descartes' dichotomy has enormously developed our world, but endangered the ecosystem. In this study, the ecosystem aesthetics is not only a critique against existing growth-ideology and technical civilization, but also the art pursuing the life as an artistic state and achieving the dream for qualitatively different new future. Lao-tzu's Natural Beauty assumes that the adaptation to natural laws can lead every purpose's achievement. Based on such theoretical alternative, the earth construction as a medium for coexisting mankind, nature and construction interacts with the other objects through the natural affinity, the energy efficiency, the material generation. The earth construction provides the images of naivety, naturalness, folk as well as emotional stability in cultural terms. This study's direction and method are as follows. First, it researches the ecosystem aesthetics from the Taoism viewpoint, the alternative for environmental healing based on theoretical reviews about the ecosystem aesthetics. Second, it researches the earth construction's ecosystem aesthetic features and construction features from the low-tech aspect in continual construction genealogy. Third, it analyzes some cases targeting domestic buildings by drawing out expression methods and features through the connectivity of earth construction and ecosystem aesthetics. The earth construction lies between the heaven and the earth, but coexists in natural cycle. The earth construction caused from ecosystem aesthetics will be a future alterative, and various studies about its features and methods should be continued.

In today's society, being considered ecological in fashion design and having a cultural and humanistic approach is important. Using a technological approach, the fold concept was applied to understand and analyze the ecological characteristics of a modern fashion aesthetic design. The concept of 'Ecological Aesthetic Design', which we discuss in this study, is part of human nature, and the design concept is used to consider the relationship between the man and the environment to the design of Victor Papanek. From the perspective of interrelation between the components of an ecosystem, the possibility of the fold's application to ecological aesthetic design can be summarized by wholeness, biodiversity, evolution, homeostasis, and circularity. The concept of the fold is revealed mainly through three types of characteristics: indeterminate complexity, potential continuity, and decentralized interaction relationship. Based on the characteristics of the concept presented earlier, this study conducted a case review by distinguishing contemporary fashion that applied the complex, various, and indeterminate fold concepts into flexible transformation, continuity, and complementary circularity. This study was interpreted from the ecological aesthetic point of view based on the nature of the contingent folds presented before applying modern fashion concepts. It focused on the morphological side, and excluded the material aspects of the case study in order to examine the complex, diverse and content aspects. The result of the study is as follows. The study of the research areas that help the understanding of the changing fashion phenomenonneeds to be encouraged, and there should be a new research category, which can contribute to the ecological aesthetic design concept conversion.

The quality of the environment, both natural and man-made, has unlimited influence on people's behavior and their physical and psychological well being. Interior designers shaped the indoor environment in which people live, work, perform day-to-day tasks and rest. Since designers affect a society's sensitivity and thinking, the aesthetics and ethics of the designs must respond to the most burning environmental issues of the contemporary world. This awareness is especially important now, at this critical time in the life of our planet, when humanity is facing twin catastrophes: natural resources depletion and environmental degradation. Under this concept, the purpose of this study is to configure what kind of design is ecologic and sustainable design and how we can develop ecological design as focusing on natural ventilation, natural lighting, uses of recycled materials, application of Indoor landscaping and architectural forms through several existing cases of the ecological office building.
