The purpose of this study was to verify the difference in biomechanical variation and pattern of the lower limb between planned and unexpected termination, which is related to the prevention of fatal fall in the elderly. Therefore, selected twenty subjects for each group which composed of females(age: $73.5{\pm}4.63$ year, height: $153.2{\pm}6.46$ cm, body mass: $58.98{\pm}5.82$ kg) and women(age: $23.4{\pm}2.5$ year, height: $164.65{\pm}3.9$ cm, body mass: $58.47{\pm}5.53$ kg) in their twenties. As a result, lower limb's extension moment and power were increased significantly in statistics(p<.05). Also, knee joint power showed instant changes from concentric contraction to eccentric contraction and hip joint power from eccentric contraction to concentric contraction. During unexpected termination there were dramatical increase in eccentric contraction and power(p<.05). In both planned and unexpected termination, ankle joint moment were higher in young group, but the moment of the hip joint were higher in the elderly group(p<.05). In contrast to younger group, there were no changes in knee extension moment in elderly group(p<.05). but showed relatively higher hip joint extension moment and power(p<.05).
Ten subjects who were going to wear conventional complete dentures were selected for this study. Theree subjects were women and seven were men. The average age was 63.1 years(range : 44 to 76 years). With the Height tracer (extraoral tracing device) in place the subject was instructed to go through the entire range of mandibular movements. The extreme lateral pathway of the incisor point, the so-called Gothic arch, was thereby inscribed by the stylus on the tracing plate. The mandibular movements in this study were peformed voluntarily by the subject(self guided technique) and guided by the dentist(chin-point technique and bimanual technique). The Gothic arch tracings were analysed and the Gothic arch angles and eccentric movement distances were measured. The results were as follows : 1. The apex position of the Gothic arch tracings of mandibular movements in edentulous patients varied both anterioposteriorly and mediolaterally. 2. The Gothic arch tracing had some lateral deviation during protrusion. 3. The average Gothic arch tracing angle was $136.7{\pm}12.0^{\circ}$ by subjects self guided technique, $135.7{\pm}5.9^{\circ}$ by chin-point technique, $136.6{\pm}6.5^{\circ}$ by bimanual technique. But there were no statistical differences in the reliability among the three techniques. 4. The average mandibular eccentric movements were irregular and the mandibular eccentric movement distances varied with a wide range.
The exact diagnosis of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is very important in the treatment of hypertension. The purpose of our study is to determine the relationship between left ventricular remodeling patterns and electrocardiography (ECG) findings in hypertensive patients. We divided 137 patients into four groups according to left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and the relative wall thickness: normal, concentric remodeling, concentric hypertrophy, eccentric hypertrophy. LVH on the ECG was defined by three ECG criteria: Sokolow-Lyon voltage criteria, Cornell voltage criteria and Romhilt-Estes point score. LVH on the echocardiography was defined by LVMI. The prevalence of ECG LVH was increased in concentric hypertrophy and eccentric hypertrophy group. The QRS voltages by Sokolow-Lyon voltage criteria (r = 0.494, P = 0.002) and Cornell voltage criteria (r = 0.628, P < 0.001), and Romhilt-Estes point score (r = 0.689, P < 0.001) were positively correlated with LVMI. Also, the QRS voltages and point scores were significantly increased in the concentric hypertrophy and eccentric hypertrophy group with increased LVMI. The QRS voltage and Romhilt-Estes point scores were positively correlated with LVMI. The QRS voltages and Romhilt-Estes point scores were also increased in the left ventricular remodeling groups with increased LVMI.
In this paper, the shape design process is briefly discussed emphasizing the use of topology optimization in the conceptual design stage. The basic idea is to view feasible domains for sensitivity region concepts. In this method, the main process consists of two steps: as the design moves further inside the feasible domain using Taguchi method, and thus becoming more successful topology optimization, the sensitivity region becomes larger. In designing a double-eccentric butterfly valve, related to hydrodynamic performance and disc structure, are discussed where the use of topology optimization has proven to dramatically improve an existing design and significantly decrease the development time of a shape design. CFD analysis results demonstrate the validity of this approach.

This research focused on the development of automatically exclusive production equipment of corrupad as changing manual system into automatic system to increase the output. Therefore the minimization of the problem of the rewinding mechanism with eccentric cantilever structure is key to the achievement of the high performance for automation production. Proto-type corrupad rewinding machine is manufactured after considering the effect of the rotational vibration and natural frequency of the structure of machine by using 3D design packages such as ADAMS and I-deas. For evaluating the performance of the proto-type machine, simulations of dynamic and static characteristics using 3D design packages, a series of modal tests by accelerometer and measurements of dynamic behavior by high-speed camera for rewinding part, were carried out. As a result, the proto-type machine was not affected with the rotational vibration. Whirling error of eccentric cantilever structure in driving is small. Therefore the machine developed is most suitable to produce corrupad automatically. However reinforcement of the structure in axial direction is required due to so vibration in that direction.
Extensive reinforced concrete interior beam-column joints with beams of different depths have been used in large industrial buildings and tall building structures under the demand of craft or function. The seismic behavior of the joint, particularly the relationship between deformation and strength in the core region of these eccentric reinforced concrete beam-column joints, has rarely been investigated. This paper performed a theoretical study on the effects of geometric features on the shear strength of the reinforced concrete interior beam-column joints with beams of different depths, which was critical factor in seismic behavior. A new model was developed to analyze the relationship between the shear strength and deformation based on the Equivalent Strut Mechanism (ESM), which combined the truss model and the diagonal strut model. Additionally, this paper developed a simplified calculation method to estimate the shear strength of these type eccentric joints. The accuracy of the model was verified as the modifying analysis data fitted to the test results, which was a loading test of 6 eccentric joints conducted previously.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect on multifidus and external oblique abdominis muscle activation during hip contraction of three types (concentric, isometric, eccentric) in standing position. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Twenty healthy adult men volunteered to participate in this study. Muscle activation was recorded from gluteus maximus, both multifidus, and both external oblique abdominis by surface electromyography (EMG) while holding position in the type of gluteus maximus contraction. EMG values were normalized by maximum muscle contractions (% maximum voluntary isometric contraction). All subjects performed hip extension with three contraction methods. The type of gluteus maximus contraction using Thera-band was composed of concentric contraction (type 1), isometric contraction (type 2), and eccentric contraction (type 3). To measure muscle activation on the gluteus maximus contraction type, each position were maintained for 5 seconds with data collection taken place during middle three seconds. Muscle activation was measured in each position three times. Results: For the results of this study, there was no significant difference within three contraction patterns of the gluteus maximus (concentric, isometric, and eccentric) each both multifidus, both external oblique abdominis, and gluteus maximus. And there was no significant difference among both multifidus, both external oblique abdominis, and gluteus maximus each hip extension contraction type. Conclusions: These findings suggest that specific contraction types of the gluteus maximus does not lead to a more effective activation of the multifidus, external oblique abdominis, and gluteus maximus.

Built-in Eccentric Bearing-Torsional Spring (BEBTS) type Automatic Belt Tension Unit (ABTU) is one of typical belt tension units. The BEBTS type ABTU system frequently experiences torsional vibration about its pivot due to the variation of belt tension. However, it is very difficult to analyze the rotational (or torsional) vibration of the ABTU because the exciting moment varies according to the change of belt tension. To get over this difficulty, in this paper. the ABTU was simplified as 1-DOF translational motion model in the tangential direction. Its equation of motion was derived and solved. The time history and frequency responses were computed and examined for three of BEBTS type ABTUs which are made by different manufacturers but the tame kind.
The differential settlements and rotations among footings cannot be avoided when the frame-footing-soil system is subjected to seismic/dynamic loading. Also, there may be a situation where column(s) of a building are located near adjoining property line causes eccentric loading on foundation system. The strap beams may be provided to control the rotation of the footings within permissible limits caused due to such eccentric loading. In the present work, the seismic interaction analysis of a three-bay three-storey, space frame-footing-strap beam-soil system is carried out to investigate the interaction behavior using finite element software (ANSYS). The RCC structure and their foundation are assumed to behave in linear manner while the supporting soil mass is treated as nonlinear elastic material. The seismic interaction analyses of space frame-isolated footing-soil and space frame-strap footing-soil systems are carried out to evaluate the forces in the columns. The results indicate that the bending moments of very high magnitude are induced at column bases resting on eccentric footing of frame-isolated footing-soil interaction system. However, use of strap beams controls these moments quite effectively. The soil-structure interaction effect causes significant redistribution of column forces compared to non-interaction analysis. The axial forces in the columns are distributed more uniformly when the interaction effects are considered in the analysis.
Recently, CFT column has been well-studied and reported on, because a CFT column has certain superior structural properties as well as good productivity, execution efficiency, and improved rigidity over existing columns. However, CFT column still has problems clearing the capacity evaluation between its steel tube member and high-strength concrete materials. Also, research on concrete has examined numerical values for high-strength concrete filled steel square tube columns (HCFT) to explain transformation performance (M-${\phi}$) when a short-column receives equal flexure-moment from axial stress. Moment-curvature formulas are proposed for HCFT columns based on analytic assumption described in this paper. This study investigated structural properties (capacity, curvature), through a series of experiments for HCFT with key parameters, such as strength of concrete mixed design (58.8 MPa), width-thickness ratio (D/t), buckling length to sectional width ratio (Lk/D) and concrete types (Zeolite, Fly-ash, Silica-fume) under eccentric loads. A comparative analysis executed for the AISC-LRFD, AIJ and Takanori Sato, etc. Design formulas to estimate the axial load (N)-moment (M)-curvature (${\phi}$) are proposed for HCFT columns based on tests results described in this paper.
