This study sought to investigate and assess the development patterns of children, aged from 3 to 5, by means of a longitudinal approach. The children's developmental patterns are classified according to five curriculum areas; physical health, social skills, expression, language, and exploration-. The developmental patterns are analyzed in detail according to the observation period, children's ages, and their genders. The subjects consisted of 108 children in A city. A research assistant was asked to observe and keep records of the children's behaviors at three distinct times -early, middle, and late in the school year. The 'observational scale for children' was used as the measurement tool. The data which was thus collected was then subject to statistical analysis. The major findings of the study are as follows. First, there were significant differences in all five curriculum areas according to the children's age and observation period. That is, five-year-old children showed higher scores than three- and four-year-old children. Second, there were significant differences in the social development within five curriculum areas according to the children's gender and the observation period. That is, girls exhibited higher scores than boys.
This study examines the scientific concept development of young children in terms of the day-night cycle. The subjects consisted of 180 three-, four-, and five-year-old children from two kindergartens and one children's center located in Seoul and Jeju. Individual interviews were conducted to collect verbal and pictorial responses on the day-night cycle. The scientific concepts on the day-night cycle are classified five stages including : no recognition, egocentric concept, initial mental models, synthetic mental models, and scientific mental models. Using two-way ANOVA, scores for the types of concept on the day-night cycles were then analyzed according to both the ages and genders of the children. The results reveal the existence of significant differences in terms of the types of concept of young children according to age. Most three-year-olds children had no recognition. Most three, four, and five-year-old children revealed egocentric concepts. Four-year-old children revealed that were in the initial stages of experiencing the mental models and synthetic mental models of the day-night cycle. Five-year-old children revealed that they were in the early stages of experiencing the initial, synthetic, scientific mental models of the day-night cycle. The results suggest appropriate ways of science education for young children based on the development of scientific concepts of the day-night cycle.
A total of and consecutive 87 patients underwent concomitant double mitral and aortic valve replacement with the St. Jude Medical prosthesis between January 1985 and December 1993. They were 44 males and 43 females with the ages ranging from 18 to 59 years[mean$\pm$SD: 40.9$\pm$9.5 years . Fifteen patients[17.2% had a history of previous cardiac valve replacement. There were 2 early deaths[2.3% , and 85 early survivors were followed up for a total of 352.6 patient-years[mean$\pm$SD: 4.1 $\pm$2.6 years . All were anticoagulated with coumadin keeping the target international normalized ratio within the range of 1.5 and 2.5. There was a single late death[late mortality of 0.284%/patient-year . Thromboembolism was the most frequent complication[1.985%/patient-year , and bleeding related to anticoagulation was experienced in one patient [0.284%/patient-year . The incidences of prosthetic valve endocarditis and of paravalvular leak were also low[0.284%/patient-year, respectively . The survival including operative mortality was 96.1%$\pm$2.2% at 10 years. The actuarial probabilities of freedom from thromboembolism and from all events were 77.9%$\pm$11.1% and 72.4%$\pm$10.7%, respectively, at 10 years. There was no structural failure of the prosthesis. Results from a series of clinical studies suggest strongly that the use of lower intensity of anticoagulation therapy lowers the thromboembolic as well as bleeding rates in patients with the ST. Jude Medical prosthesis.

Accurate estimation of concrete strength development at early ages is a critical factor to secure structural stability as well as to speed up the construction process. The temperature generated from the heat of hydration is considered as a key parameter in predicting the early age strength. Conventionally, concrete temperature has been measured by temperature sensors installed inside concrete. However, considering the measurement on building structures with multiple floors, this method requires reinstallation and repositioning of hardware such as sensors, data loggers and routers for data transfer. This makes the temperature monitoring work cumbersome and inefficient. Concrete temperature monitoring by using thermal remote sensing can be an effective alternative to supplement those shortcomings. In this study, image processing was carried out through K-means clustering technique, which is a unsupervised learning method, and the classification results were analyzed accordingly. In the future, research will be conducted on how to automatically recognize concrete among various objects by using deep learning techniques.
Recently, deflection of the slab during construction periods becoming one of the important issues because of increasing the large-span structures. Early removing the form and support of the slab to achieve the rapid construction cause falling-off in quality of the structures. To reduce these deterioration and make rapid construction, construction of strength and stiffness gain model is needed by the research about the early-age concrete properties. Previous research results indicated that concrete model in existing design codes could not provide the mechanical properties of early age concrete. This paper carried out the concrete compressive strength tests on the curing age at early age stage. Evaluation of the accuracy of compressive strength and modulus of elasticity gain formula in existing various design codes was performed based on this test results, and new design model was proposed. This new model will be useful to develop the new rapid construction methods or prevent the deterioration of the deflection at construction periods. Material tests were performed at 1, 3, 7, 14, 28 curing days, total 159 cylinder style specimens were tested. Based on analyzing the test results, the relationship between compressive strength and modulus of elasticity at early age was proposed.
Alcohol consumption increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. However, its effects on prediabetes or early diabetes have not been studied. We investigated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in the pancreas and liver resulting from chronic alcohol consumption in the prediabetes and early stages of diabetes. We separated Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima Fatty (OLETF) rats, a type-2 diabetic animal model, into two groups based on diabetic stage: prediabetes and early diabetes were defined as occurrence between the ages of 11 to 16 weeks and 17 to 22 weeks, respectively. The experimental group received an ethanol-containing liquid diet for 6 weeks. An intraperitoneal glucose tolerance test was conducted after 16 and 22 weeks for the prediabetic and early diabetes groups, respectively. There were no significant differences in body weight between the control and ethanol groups. Fasting and 120-min glucose levels were lower and higher, respectively, in the ethanol group than in the control group. In prediabetes rats, alcohol induced significant expression of ER stress markers in the pancreas; however, alcohol did not affect the liver. In early diabetes rats, alcohol significantly increased most ER stress-marker levels in both the pancreas and liver. These results indicate that chronic alcohol consumption increased the risk of diabetes in prediabetic and early diabetic OLETF rats; the pancreas was more susceptible to damage than was the liver in the early diabetic stages, and the adaptive and proapoptotic pathway of ER stress may play key roles in the development and progression of diabetes affected by chronic alcohol ingestion.
The purpose of this study was to examine the specific nature of early relationship between infant and father. The subject pool for the study consisted of 42 middle-class infant-father days. Infant's ages were 12 moths to 17 months. All were fullterm babies In order to assess the patterns of infant-father attachment each dyad was videotaped in the simulated Strange Situation of Ainsworth et al(1978). In order to assess the paternal sensiti-vity toward the infant's cue,. each dyad was also filmed for a 3-minute Questionnaire Situation Gratification of the Transition to Fatherhood. Also at home mothers completed a report on infant temperament using the Infant Characteristics Questionnaire. Among 42 infants 48% or 20 were classified as securely attached 38% or 16 as anxious-avoi-dant and 14% or 6 as anxious-resistant Using the discriminant function coefficients for combi-ning the paternal sensitivity scores 83% of the infants were correctly classified as A. B. C The patterns of attachment were not found to be significantly different in the paternal childhood experience for attachment relationship to his own parents. Degree of Difficulty and Gratification groups with respect to infant temperamental fussiness.
This study investigated heritability for bovine growth estimated with genomewide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) information obtained from a DNA microarray chip. Three hundred sixty seven Korean cattle were genotyped with the Illumina BovineSNP50 BeadChip, and 39,112 SNPs of 364 animals filtered by quality assurance were analyzed to estimate heritability of body weights at 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, and 24 months of age. Restricted maximum likelihood estimate of heritability was obtained using covariance structure of genomic relationships among animals in a mixed model framework. Heritability estimates ranged from 0.58 to 0.76 for body weights at different ages. The heritability estimates using genomic information in this study were larger than those which had been estimated previously using pedigree information. The results revealed a trend that the heritability for body weight increased at a younger age (6 months). This suggests an early genetic evaluation for bovine growth using genomic information to increase genetic merits of animals.

The purpose of this fundamental study is to investigate the mechanism of high strength concrete using the high calcium sulfate cement from a point of view in cement hydration and micro structure. As a results, it was found that the internal pores of concrete are decreased by using the high calcium sulfate cement, because the hydrates of Ettringite which is densified in structure is much formed in early ages at steam curing. In addition to the ettringite needs the 32 times of free water formed mixing water for hydration. This effect are not only decreased the water to cement ratio and also increase to comp, strength of concrete. It was conclude that these above the two facts are the main mechanism of high strength concrete using high calcium sulfate cement.
The importance of information media in personal lives has increased rapidly, indicating the average ages of users are becoming younger. School-age children, despite the inconsequential differences, are reported to have used the internet for their free time, information search, communications, and education. Recent researches are focused on various variables affecting internet-addictions since these problems have become a major issue in education due to prolonged use of the internet or mobile. The regulations as a preventative measure and the setting of standard are also considered as major issues of research. In terms of policy, there should be revisions on laws and regulations about the internet and mobile in order to protect school-age children from vicious environments. For the education's part, there should be appropriate amount of education, for children and their parents, on how to use computers and the internet properly and how to prevent internet-addiction.
