E-Commerce Performance Based on Knowledge Management and Organizational Innovativeness

  • Purpose: This study focuses on the performance of the strategy of Indonesia's companies in facing the development of e-commerce business. The relationship between Knowledge Management (Organizational Memory, Knowledge Sharing, Knowledge Absorption, Knowledge Acceptance), Organizational Innovativeness, Competitive Advantage (Time, Quality, Cost, Flexibility) and E-Commerce (Humanistic Factors: Management, Competence, Organizational Structures) examined in this case study. Research design, data, and methodology: This study uses two types such us qualitative and quantitative. A survey approach were conducted to collect data from the Group of Companies (Director and Manager), Academician (Lecturer), Regulator (Head of Government Institution Division), and Master of Management (at least five years). Total of 114 samples was collected and processed for statistical analysis using Smart PLS. Results: This study provide the findings proved that Knowledge Management and Organization Innovativeness simultaneously have positive influence on Competitive Advantage, while Knowledge Management, Organization Innovativeness, and Competitive Advantage simultaneously have positive influence on E-commerce where Competitive Advantage positively influence to E-commerce. Conclusions: The implementation of strategies or steps in this study are expected to steer and motivate an organization to successfully implement a good knowledge management system to pass on knowledge from generation to generation in the company Organizational Innovativeness strategies to improve e-commerce performance.

An Empirical Analysis of the Impact of the Institution-based Trust Factors on the Survival of E-commerce Companies in Korea (제도기반 신뢰요소가 한국 전자상거래 기업의 생존에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증 분석 연구)

  • E-commerce in Korea has grown steadily in recent years. E-commerce has provided firms with an effective method to approach potential customers by overcoming geographical and physical barriers. However, despite the rapid growth, many e-commerce businesses closed their businesses and were not able to survive. This study aims to empirically examine the factors that determine the survival of e-commerce businesses in Korea. In particular, this study focuses on the factors related to the notion of institution-based trust that includes delivery, privacy, and security management. This research used the data set about 31,295 e-commerce businesses that have been registered in Seoul. We found that the e-commerce business that does not require extra personal information beyond the standard terms and conditions or provides a feedback mechanism by having an online board to submit a complaint has a higher chance of survival. In addition, the e-commerce business that has a secured web server, shows the specific information about the date of delivery, or provides escrow services is likely to survive longer than others. The research has extended the extant literature on the importance of trust in e-commerce by empirically examining the effects of the institution-based trust factors on the actual survival of e-commerce businesses.

A Mobile App Strategy: An Empirical Study on the Effect of the Mobile Shopping App Usage (모바일 애플리케이션 전략: 모바일 쇼핑 앱 사용 효과 실증 연구)

  • The growth of mobile commerce (m-commerce) has been accelerated around the world. Why do e-retailers have to put a great deal of effort for the distribution of their mobile apps? The literature has paid little attention to the influence of the introduction of an e-commerce app on shopping behaviors of consumers. By analyzing the dataset of 2,342 users in Korea, this study aims to broaden our understanding of mobile shopping app usage across competing e-retailers and different channels. We found that a user's prior usage of a specific e-commerce mobile app increases her subsequent usage of its website through a mobile web browser. Thus, mobile apps do not cannibalize the mobile web channel, and there could be a complementary relationship. We also found that a user's usage of competitors' apps is positively associated with her subsequent usage of a specific e-commerce app. Because many consumers search products and compare prices across multiple e-retailers, having a mobile app helps an e-retailer be exposed to more potential consumers. This study is among the first to study the role of mobile apps in e-commerce by showing the dynamics of cross-channel and cross-vendor usage by a user.

Web-based Knowledge Management for Using Product Data in E-Commerce (제품 데이터의 전자거래 활용을 위한 웹 기반 지식관리)

  • As the networks (i.e., intranet and internet) proliferate all over the world, it is inevitable to move some (or all) of the enterprise activities into virtual spaces. Differently from business data, product data have complex semantics and thus are not properly exchanged among different application programs. Even though some neutral formats of product data have been developed by standard organizations, translating them among various application programs still needs the comprehensive understanding of the complex semantics. Recently, it is widely recognized that capturing more knowledge is the next step In overcome the current difficulties on sharing product data. In this paper, we present Web-based knowledge management that facilitates seamless sharing of product data among various application programs in virtual enterprises. Three types of knowledge are managed by the knowledge management system - metadata, ontology, and mapping. In this environment, we consider both business applications (e.g., ERP, SCM, and EDI System) and engineering applications (e.g., CAD and CAM system).

A Study on the Perceived Seriousness of the Consumer Problem between E-commerce Users and Non-Users - Focused on University Consumers - (인터넷상거래 이용자/비이용자의 소비자문제 심각성지각 연구 - 대학생소비자를 중심으로 -)

  • This study was intended to present the plan for preventing and solving the seriousness of the consumer problem perceived in the e-commerce. For this purpose, 723 questionnaires were distributed to university As a result of analysis, the following findings were obtained: 1) It was found that e-commerce users had higher knowledge of the degree of internet un, the ability to use information on the internet, the disposition of computerization, and e-commerce related consumer than e-commerce non-users. 2) It was found that e-commerce non-users had the higher level of perceived seriousness of the consumer problem than e-commerce users. Especially, it was found that e-commerce non-users had the high level of perceived seriousness of the consumer problem related to the problem of exchange, termination and after-sale nice and the leakage of exchange, termination and after-sale service and the leakage of private information e-commerce user. 3) It was found that university consumers' perceived seriousness of the consumer problem in e-commerce over the internet showed a significant difference in the ability to use information on the internet between e-commerce users and non-users.

The Determinants of e-WOM for Infomediaries in Social Commerce (소셜커머스 환경에서 정보중개상에 대한 구전 의도의 결정 요인)

  • The explosive growth of social commerce engenders a new business model, that is, infomediary. In a social commerce environment, infomediary works as a personal agent who provides information about various web merchants to help consumers select appropriate merchants for their needs. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors influencing consumer attitudes towards infomediaries in social commerce and examine the relationship between intention to provide word of mouth and consumer attitudes. In total, 170 responses were collected from social commerce infomediary users. The results show that competence and integrity significantly influence user attitudes as trust dimensions. Infomediary reputation and two functional factors (information variety and navigation functionality) turn out to be significant antecedents for user attitudes toward infomediary in social commerce. User attitudes in turn significantly influence the intention to provide word of mouth. Future research and practical implications are also discussed.

  • The development of information technology got rid of much restriction on time and space, inviting earlier knowledge based society. The growing e-commerce based on internet alters the existing way of management in business groups and countries to one based on e-business. Especially, neighboring Far-East Asia countries are on the way of increasing their interest and efforts on e-commerce. Also they continue to give support to e-commerce and explore the way to North-East Asia e-Hub, on the government level. Against this backdrop, this study tried to review the current status and supporting system of e-commerce in 6 North-East Asia countries(South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore), as a preliminary work for building the base of e-commerce and spurring the economic cooperation through e-commerce in North-East Asia region. I expect that this review would do the role of basic material for exploring and prospecting Korea's possibility as the North-East Asia e-Hub.

A study on the impacts of informal networks on knowledge diffusion in knowledge management

  • Knowledge management has garnered attention due to its role of maintaining competitive advantage. Creating and sharing knowledge is an essential part of managing knowledge. However, the best knowledge is underutilized because employees tend to seek knowledge through their informal networks, not reach out to other sources for obtaining the best knowledge. Prior studies on informal networks pointed out a negative influence of heavy reliance on learning through informal networks but they paid little attention to a structure of informal networks and its impacts on diffusion of knowledge. The aim of our study is to show impacts of informal network on knowledge management by employing a network structure and investigating diffusion of knowledge within it. Our study found out that performance of learning becomes lower in a highly clustered network. Creating random links such as serendipitous learning can improve performance of knowledge management. When employees rely on a knowledge management system, creating random links is not necessary. Costs of adopting knowledge affect performance of knowledge management.

Uncertainty Avoidance, Individualism and the Readiness of Business-to-Consumer E-commerce

  • This study aims to test whether and to what extend national culture affects the readiness of business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce across the world. We regress two sets of data at national level: (1) the ratings of two main dimensions of Hofstede's national culture framework, uncertainty avoidance and individualism, and (2) UTCTAD B2C e-commerce index value. A sample of 83 countries was tested in this study. Several control variables at national level are included in our regression model. We find that these two cultural dimensions have an effect on the readiness of B2C e-commerce in various ways. We find that countries with high individualism score have high index value of B2C e-commerce development. We discuss the implications of these findings for B2C e-commerce developing strategies. We then call for designing relative policies with full consideration on national culture to promote the development of B2C e-commerce. In addition, we identify the limitations of the study and propose recommendations for future research. This study is the first one to use UNCTAD data on B2C e-commerce to explore the relationships between two dimensions of Hofstede's national culture and the readiness of B2C e-commerce and adds to the knowledge of literature in this research field.

In Conclusions, this study Study on the Informationalization of the Enterprises and Knowledge-based Service Industry Enlarge Strategics for building competition of Enterprises. This study has suggested potential plans to reinforce based in the Knowledge-based Service.
