It was difficult for user to identify e-books due to some problems such as duplicable bibliographic records and inconsistent descriptive cataloging when cataloging the bibliographic records of the e-book packages in OPAC. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find the applicable methods of the provider neutral e-book(e-monograph) MARC record guideline for the standardization of the bibliographic records of the provider supplied e-book package. Through the literature reviews and homepage analysis of 15 university libraries in domestic, the theoretical background on cataloging e-book, the descriptive cataloging of e-book, the provider-neutral e-monograph MARC record guideline as new standard for e-book, and the libraries practices of cataloging bibliographic records of the e-book package were inquired. Based on these analysis, it was to suggest applicable methods of provider neutral e-book(e-monograph) MARC record guideline for the standardization of the bibliographic records of domestic e-book packages in aspect of cataloging rule, KORMARC, and neutral bibliographic records. This study will contribute to build FRBRization of the e-books in OPAC as finding the guideline for the standardization of the bibliographic records of the e-book packages for both providers and libraries.

Recently, with the rapid development of information technology the field of e-book market is growing rapidly. The choice of an e-book device to improve user's comprehension is one of very important elements. The effectiveness evaluation between e-books and paper books has been studied previously, but there have not been progressed actively researches on the size of e-book devices based on user's comprehension. Considering these aspects, we in this paper selected e-book devices such as currently available PDA, netbook, and notebook, and then carried out the experiment about which device has the highest user's comprehension depending on the size of e-book devices. Understanding and memory about the content on the display were set as main factors in order to evaluate user's comprehension. We prepared in advance multiple examples of e-books and English words with similar difficulty, and evaluated user's comprehension through answering questions for each example after doing the experiment. 90 undergraduate students who use most widely e-books participated in the experiment, and the result was analyzed using SPSS statistical package. The experiment result showed that user's comprehension was higher in e-book device with middle size rather than the one with big size in display size.

This paper develops a portfolio management game applicable to Korean Stock Market with an emphasis on teaching and training aid. It allows each participant to start out with a certain amount of money and pick his favorable stocks from a list of stocks chosen by instructor. Each participant must make a transaction at each time period and he gets a readout that states his individual performance, i.e., stock lists, cash on hand, net worth, transactions he has made and rank in accordance with his net worth. This game package consists of 10 subprograms and 7 files written with Fortran language for use on the Nova 840 computer and is divided into 3 main categories according to their functions, i.e., book-keeping function, data processing function and information searching function. This package may be used for training portfolio decison makings in the stock market and for comparing various investment methods through hypothetical investments.

This work presents an expert system for the classification of a given substance and thus enabling one to select the proper container in consultation with the computer. The system consists of 34 rules and uses Micro Expert as a shell program based on backward chaining method. The prototype system will have to be under extensive test. However, its use is bound to have advantages over conventional methods, e.g. looking up in a reference book or using conventional programs with a database. Since the expert system determines the group of the given substance not by its name but by its physical and chemical properties, it is not necessary to add data items even for newly synthesized substances. The system also provides reasoning for its determination and therefore it can be used as a good package for the training of unskilled operators.

This paper aims to implement a topic modeling technique for extracting the topics of online discussions among library professionals in India. Topic modeling is the established text mining technique popularly used for modeling text data from Twitter, Facebook, Yelp, and other social media platforms. The present study modeled the online discussions of Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals posted on Lis Links. The text data of these posts was extracted using a program written in R using the package "rvest." The data was pre-processed to remove blank posts, posts having text in non-English fonts, punctuation, URLs, emails, etc. Topic modeling with the Latent Dirichlet Allocation algorithm was applied to the pre-processed corpus to identify each topic associated with the posts. The frequency analysis of the occurrence of words in the text corpus was calculated. The results found that the most frequent words included: library, information, university, librarian, book, professional, science, research, paper, question, answer, and management. This shows that the LIS professionals actively discussed exams, research, and library operations on the forum of Lis Links. The study categorized the online discussions on Lis Links into ten topics, i.e. "LIS Recruitment," "LIS Issues," "Other Discussion," "LIS Education," "LIS Research," "LIS Exams," "General Information related to Library," "LIS Admission," "Library and Professional Activities," and "Information Communication Technology (ICT)." It was found that the majority of the posts belonged to "LIS Exam," followed by "Other Discussions" and "General Information related to the Library."
