In this paper, we propose a deep learning based on-device augmented reality (AR) system in which multiple input images are used to implement the correct occlusion in a real environment. The proposed system is composed of three technical steps; camera pose estimation, depth estimation, and object augmentation. Each step employs various mobile frameworks to optimize the processing on the on-device environment. Firstly, in the camera pose estimation stage, the massive computation involved in feature extraction is parallelized using OpenCL which is the GPU parallelization framework. Next, in depth estimation, monocular and multiple image-based depth image inference is accelerated using the mobile deep learning framework, i.e. TensorFlow Lite. Finally, object augmentation and occlusion handling are performed on the OpenGL ES mobile graphics framework. The proposed augmented reality system is implemented as an application in the Android environment. We evaluate the performance of the proposed system in terms of augmentation accuracy and the processing time in the mobile as well as PC environments.

With billions of IoT (Internet of Things) devices populating various emerging applications across the world, detecting anomalies on these devices has become incredibly important. Advanced Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) are trained to detect abnormal network traffic, and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms are used to create detection models. In this paper, the NSL-KDD dataset was adopted to comparatively study the performance and efficiency of IoT anomaly detection models. The dataset was developed for various research purposes and is especially useful for anomaly detection. This data was used with typical machine learning algorithms including eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), Support Vector Machines (SVM), and Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNN) to identify and classify any anomalies present within the IoT applications. Our research results show that the XGBoost algorithm outperformed both the SVM and DCNN algorithms achieving the highest accuracy. In our research, each algorithm was assessed based on accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. Furthermore, we obtained interesting results on the execution time taken for each algorithm when running the anomaly detection. Precisely, the XGBoost algorithm was 425.53% faster when compared to the SVM algorithm and 2,075.49% faster than the DCNN algorithm. According to our experimental testing, XGBoost is the most accurate and efficient method.
Due to the recent development in electronic financial services, transactions of electronic prepayment are rapidly growing, leading to growing fraud attempts. This paper proposes a methodology that can effectively detect fraud transactions in electronic prepayment by machine learning algorithms, including support vector machines, decision trees, and artificial neural networks. Actual transaction data of electronic prepayment services were collected and preprocessed to extract the most relevant variables from raw data. Two different approaches were explored in the paper. One is a transaction-based approach, and the other is a user ID-based approach. For the transaction-based approach, the first model is primarily based on raw data features, while the second model uses extra features in addition to the first model. The user ID-based approach also used feature engineering to extract and transform the most relevant features. Overall, the user ID-based approach showed a better performance than the transaction-based approach, where the artificial neural networks showed the best performance. The proposed method could be used to reduce the damage caused by financial accidents by detecting and blocking fraud attempts.

Reliability assessment of complex structures using simulation methods is time-consuming. Thus, surrogate models are usually employed to reduce computational cost. AK-MCS is a surrogate-based Active learning method combining Kriging and Monte-Carlo Simulation for structural reliability analysis. This paper proposes three modifications of the AK-MCS method to reduce the number of calls to the performance function. The first modification is related to the definition of an initial Design of Experiments (DoE). In the original AK-MCS method, an initial DoE is created by a random selection of samples among the Monte Carlo population. Therefore, samples in the failure region have fewer chances to be selected, because a small number of samples are usually located in the failure region compared to the safe region. The proposed method in this paper is based on a uniform selection of samples in the predefined domain, so more samples may be selected from the failure region. Another important parameter in the AK-MCS method is the size of the initial DoE. The algorithm may not predict the exact limit state surface with an insufficient number of initial samples. Thus, the second modification of the AK-MCS method is proposed to overcome this problem. The third modification is relevant to the type of regression trend in the AK-MCS method. The original AK-MCS method uses an ordinary Kriging model, so the regression part of Kriging model is an unknown constant value. In this paper, the effect of regression trend in the AK-MCS method is investigated for a benchmark problem, and it is shown that the appropriate choice of regression type could reduce the number of calls to the performance function. A stepwise approach is also presented to select a suitable trend of the Kriging model. The numerical results show the effectiveness of the proposed modifications.

Information technology and the need for timely and effective communication during the Covid-19 have made most governments adopt technological approaches to provide their services. E-government services have been adopted by most governments especially in developed countries to quickly and effectively share information. This study discusses the reasons why governments in the Gulf region should develop a new model for information technology knowledge management practices. To achieve this, the author identified possible benefits of adopting information technology knowledge management practices and why most governments in the Gulf find it hard to adopt them. Knowledge management allows for learning, transfer as well as sharing of information between government organizations and citizens and with the development of technology, the effectiveness of electronic services can easily be achieved. Also, effective adoption of information technology can improve knowledge management with the help of techniques that enhance capture, storage, retrieval as well as sharing of information. The author used systematic literature review to select 28 journals and articles published post 2019. IEEE, Google Scholar and Science Direct were used to select potential studies from which 722 journals and articles were selected. Through screening and eligibility assessment, 21 articles were retained while the back and forward search had 7 more articles which were also included in the study. Using information gathered from these articles and journals a new conceptual model was developed to help improve information technology knowledge management for governments in the Gulf region to effectively deliver e-services during Covid-19. This model was developed based on the process of KM, Theory of Planned Behavior and Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology. Based on the developed model. From UTAUT model, performance expectancy, effort expectancy as well as social influence had a great impact.

Intelligently detecting anomalies in health sensor data streams (e.g., Electrocardiogram, ECG) can improve the development of E-health industry. The physiological signals of patients are collected through sensors. Timely diagnosis and treatment save medical resources, promote physical health, and reduce complications. However, it is difficult to automatically classify the ECG data, as the features of ECGs are difficult to extract. And the volume of labeled ECG data is limited, which affects the classification performance. In this paper, we propose a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN)-based deep learning framework (called CAB) for heart arrhythmia classification. CAB focuses on improving the detection accuracy based on a small number of labeled samples. It is trained based on the class-imbalance ECG data. Augmenting ECG data by a GAN model eliminates the impact of data scarcity. After data augmentation, CAB classifies the ECG data by using a Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory Recurrent Neural Network (Bi-LSTM). Experiment results show a better performance of CAB compared with state-of-the-art methods. The overall classification accuracy of CAB is 99.71%. The F1-scores of classifying Normal beats (N), Supraventricular ectopic beats (S), Ventricular ectopic beats (V), Fusion beats (F) and Unclassifiable beats (Q) heartbeats are 99.86%, 97.66%, 99.05%, 98.57% and 99.88%, respectively. Unclassifiable beats (Q) heartbeats are 99.86%, 97.66%, 99.05%, 98.57% and 99.88%, respectively.

This paper proposes the structure and the algorithm of the Fuzzy-Neural Controller(FNNC) which is able to adapt itself to unknown plant and the change of circumstances at the Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) with the Neural Network. This Learning Fuzzy Logic Controller is made up of Fuzzy Logic controller in charge of a main role and Neural Network of an adaptation in variable circumstances. This construct optimal fuzzy controller applied to the 2-area load frequency control of power system, and then it would examine fitness about parameter variation of plant or variation of circumstances. And it proposes the optimal Scale factor method wsint three preformance functions( E, , U) of system dynamics of load frequency control with error back-propagation learning algorithm. Applying the controller to the model of load frequency control, it is shown that the FNNC method has better rapidity for load disturbance, reduces load frequency maximum deviation and tie line power flow deviation and minimizes reaching and settling time compared to the Optimal Fuzzy Logic Controller(OFLC) and the Optimal Control for optimzation of performance index in past control techniques.
The purpose of this study was to help the students deepen their mathematical understanding and practitioner improve her mathematics lessons. The teacher-researcher developed mathematical situation based problem solving instruction model which was modified from PBL(Problem Based Learning instruction model). Some 400 Secondary One (i.e. seventh-grade) students from 10 schools were provided with non-routine mathematical problems in their normal mathematics classes as exercises for one academic year. Their attitudes toward mathematics, their conceptions of mathematics and their problem-solving performance were measured both in the beginning and at the end of the year. Hierarchical regression analyses revealed that the introduction of an appropriate dose of non-routine problems would generate some effects on the students' conceptions of mathematics. A medium dose of non-routine problems (as reported by the teachers) would result in a change of the students' conception of mathematics to perceiving mathematics as less of "a subject of calculables." On the other hand, a high dose would lead students to perceive mathematics as more useful and more as a discipline involving thinking. However, with a low dose of non-routine problems, students found mathematics more "friendly" (free from fear). It is therefore proposed that the use of non-routine mathematical problems to an appropriate extent can induce changes in students' "lived space" of mathematics learning and broaden their conceptions of mathematics and mathematics learning.

Mathematically deductive reasoning skill is one of the major learning objectives stated in senior secondary curriculum (CDC & HKEAA, 2007, page 15). Ironically, student performance during routine assessments on geometric reasoning, such as proving geometric propositions and justifying geometric properties, is far below teacher expectations. One might argue that this is caused by teachers' lack of relevant subject content knowledge. However, recent research findings have revealed that teachers' knowledge of teaching (e.g., Ball et al., 2009) and their deductive reasoning skills also play a crucial role in student learning. Prior to a comprehensive investigation on teacher competency, we use a case study to investigate teachers' knowledge competency on how to teach their students to mathematically argue that, for example, two triangles are congruent. Deductive reasoning skill is essential to geometry. The initial findings indicate that both subject and pedagogical content knowledge are essential for effectively teaching this challenging topic. We conclude our study by suggesting a method that teachers can use to further improve their teaching effectiveness.
