A Study of Assessment for College Students' Usage Patterns and Usability Testing of E-book Subscription Services (대학생의 전자책 구독 서비스 이용 실태 및 사용성 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess the perception of e-book subscription services among the digitally native generation in their twenties, who have a high e-book usage rate. This study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining survey responses and usability testing. It aimed to assess the awareness and usage of e-book subscription services among university students in their twenties, a demographic known for their high utilization of electronic devices and e-books. The survey was conducted among 202 university students, and the responses were categorized and examined based on whether they were users or non-users. As a result of the survey, I found there is different awareness of e-book between users and non-users, on the other hand, convenience and portability are the strong point of e-books for users and non-users commonly also. Usability testing was performed on a group of 10 university students in their twenties who had not previously used the 'Millies Library' application, which is renowned as the most widely-used e-book platform. Following the experiment, participants expressed positive feedback regarding various optional features, convenience, design, and cost-effectiveness. However, they also had negative reactions concerning touch errors, malfunctions, functional practicality, a lack of interest, system issues, and the absence of a library.

Evaluation of MOS for the Access Delay of Internet Service (인터넷 서비스의 접속지연에 대한 MOS 평가)

  • With the introduction of the concept such as QoS, QoE, and MOS for the multimedia services over the high-speed network the user's concern about the degradation in the perceived quality of service for the conventional data service has become a new problem to the Internet service providers. In this work we propose a method to evaluate the subjective QoE such as MOS for the high-speed Internet service, where the round trip time for the data transfer is taken into account as a performance parameter for the experienced delay. We develop a tool to evaluate an MOS that enables us to investigate the behavior of users for diverse delay times for the web access service, via which we analyze the sensitivity of users with regard to MOS as a function of delay.

  • As the Internet connections and services at U.S. public libraries have increased dramatically since 1990s, defining, assessing and measuring quality of these new electronic services have become a critical issue. This research was a study designed to identify key dimensions of Internet service quality at public libraries by providing a systematic framework for measuring and assessing the quality of Internet services. The study used modified SERVQUAL and SERVPERF instruments which have been widely used service quality measurement in business marketing areas and LibQUAL+ model which are widely adopted service quality measurement instrument in most of the academic libraries in U.S.

A Study on the Technical Evaluation of the Quality Certification for e-Learning Contents (이러닝 콘텐츠 품질인증 기술성 평가기준에 관한 연구)

  • The increase of social interest for the e-Learning industry leads to the increase of e-learning contents and the system providers which are targeted at private education companies and public institutions. As the e-Learning is used in various areas, the evaluation for evaluation criteria and suitability are needed to provide a high-quality service and reliability. Previous works suggested the evaluation criteria for quality certification, however, the technical evaluation criteria are not provided. In this paper, we suggest the technical evaluation criteria for quality certification of e-Learning contents and describe the detailed features. Through the proposed work, we can establish the technical evaluation criteria and suggest detailed evaluation items for them by providing examples. It is expected that the proposed study is able to be utilized in e-Learning industry, if the policy is reflected and notified according to the feedback of the results of the trial service.

A Systematic Framework for Evaluating the Competitiveness Index based on Industry Characteristics : A Case Study in IT Service Business (평가자 속성과 산업별 특성이 반영된 프레임워크를 이용한 IT서비스 사업 평가방안 연구)

  • Increasing number of business and technology expansion has sparked a growing interest in IT service business evaluation. However, it is not an easy task to come up with a fair and objective evaluation of IT service business due to the difficulties involved in the definition performance assets (marketing, human resources etc.) and knowledge assets with respect to its industry. Several public organizations in Korea are developing a "standardized evaluation protocol" based on qualitative method. But the standard evaluation protocol does not provide suitable guidelines on how to construct and evaluate the key index of IT service business. The main objective of this study is in the development of a systematic approach for the evaluation of IT service business competitiveness by emphasizing the qualitative and quantitative index to be evaluated in the framework. Application of the developed framework and guideline format showed that the used of the framework in this study provided relatively more efficient evaluation results in IT service industry.

A Study on Parents' Perception about E-books in Libraries (전자책에 대한 도서관의 학부모 이용자 인식에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of this study are to investigate the perception and satisfaction of parents about e-books and to suggest ways to improve library e-book services. A user survey of one hundred twenty parents is carried for library use, computer use, and e-book user / non user behavior, library e-book service evaluation, selection of children's e-books and so on. Based upon the results, proactive library e-book service promotion such as public relations and e-book user education, easy access to e-book collections, recognition of e-book services at libraries, positions for e-book librarians and their professional continuing education, and self-evaluation of library e-book services.

  • 본 연구는 e-Learning 컨텐츠 품질과 서비스 품질 차원을 분류하고, 학습자 특성에 따른 e-Learning 성과와의 관계를 파악하는 것이다. 이에 기존 연구에 근거하여 e-Learning 컨텐츠 품질 차원을 교수설계, 내용성, 주의성으로 분류하고, 마케팅 분야의 정보 품질 모형 중에서 Parasuraman이 제시한 SERVQUAL 측정도구를 사용하여 e-Learning 서비스 품질 차원을 유형성, 신뢰성, 대응성, 확신성, 공감성으로 분류하였다. 이들 요인들이 e-Learning 성과(학습만족과 이용의도)에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 실정적으로 검정하고자 한다. 이들 요인들 간의 매개적 역할을 하는 많은 요인들이 존재할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 학습자의 경험적, 태도적, 행동적 특성과 자기효능감과 같은 학습자 특성의 매개 효과에 주목하고 한다.

A Study on Antecedents of Online Trust in the Context of e-Government Services (전자정부 서비스 사용에 있어 온라인 신뢰에 관한 연구)

  • Trust is generally assumed to be an important precondition for people's adoption of e-government services. This study analyzes the direct and indirect impact of information privacy, interactivity, subjective norms and words-of-mouth on perceived trust of e-government services and trust toward government. The Partial Least Square(PLS) was applied to the citizen survey data for hypotheses testing. PLS permits the simultaneous testing of cause-effect hypotheses while also allowing evaluation of the measurement model. Statistical results indicate that interactivity, subjective norms and words-of-mouth positively affects perceived trust of e-government services, which in turn affects the level of political efficacy and the trust toward the government. Interactivity has been found to affect words-of-mouth as well. However, information privacy has no significant effect on the trust of e-government services.

  • IMO에서 구현하고자 하는 e-navigation은 사용자의 요구사항을 중심으로 서비스와 기술의 아키텍쳐를 수립하는 전략이라고 할 수 있으며, 사용자 요구사항을 조사하고 현재의 상황과 요구사항 간의 운영적, 기술적, 규정적, 교육훈련 측면에서 격차를 식별하여 인간공학적 연계성을 분석하였다. e-navigation에서는 사용자 중심의 환경 구축을 위해 관련 장비들에 대해 사용자 입장에서의 평가의 필요성을 강조하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 항해장비의 사용성 평가 방법을 제안하고자 한다.

An Analysis of the Current Practice of E-book Management and Services in Academic Libraries : Focused on A and B Academic Libraries (대학도서관 전자책 관리 및 서비스 실태 분석: A와 B 대학도서관을 중심으로)

  • This study aims to analyze the current status of e-book management and services in academic libraries and identify related issues in the provision of the services. To do that, it performed case studies with A and B university libraries. E-book usage statistics was collected from each library and interviews were conducted with librarians responsible for e-book management and services. The interviews included questions regarding obstacles to e-book management and services and current issues as well as budget and acquisition, access and catalogues, usage, and marketing for e-books. The results show that in both libraries, the usage of e-books is low compared with that of printed books and the usage of e-books has declined recently. This is because of lack of new books with shortage of budget. Also, the most important issue surrounding e-book services is academic library evaluation, enacted by Academic Library Promotion Act in 2015. This study discussed how the criteria for academic library evaluation influence the way the academic libraries acquire and manage e-books.
