  • The structural dynamic optimization problem based on probability is studied. Considering the randomness of structural physical parameters and the given constraint values, we develop a dynamic optimization mathematical model of engineering structures with the probability constraints of frequency, forbidden frequency domain and the vibration mode. The sensitivity of structural dynamic characteristics based on probability is derived. Two examples illustrate that the optimization model and the method applied are rational and efficient.

  • In this paper, a multi-step optimization using a G.A. (Genetic Algorithm) with variable penalty function is introduced to the structural design optimization of a 5-head route machine. Our design procedure consist of two design optimization stage. The first stage of the design optimization is static design optimization. The following stage is dynamic design optimization stage. In the static optimization stage, the static compliance and weight of the structure are minimized simultaneously under some dimensional constraints and deflection limits. On the other hand, the dynamic compliance and the weight of the machine structure are minimized simultaneously in the dynamic design optimization stage. As the results, dynamic compliance of the 5-head router machine was decreased by about 37% and the weight of the structure was decreased by 4.48% respectively compared with the simplified structure model.

  • This paper discusses the multi-level optimization method in dynamic optimization problems through stiffened plate of ship structures. In structural optimization the computational cost increases rapidly as the number of design variables increases. And we need a great amount of cal-culation and time on problems of modified dynamic characteristics of large and complicated struc-tures. In this paper the multi-level optimization is proposed which decreases computational time and cost. the dynamic optimum designs of stiffened plate that control the natural frequency and minimize weight subjected to constraints condition are derived. The way to apply the multi-level optimization methods in this study follow: In the first step the dynamic characteristics is controlled for the two-dimensional model of stiffened plate by sensitivity analysis and quasi-least squares methods. In the second step the cross-section of the stiffener is decided so that the weight is minimized under needed constraints by the steepest descent or ascent method. In the third the three-dimensional model is made based on the results of the first step and the second step confirmation and finer tuning of the objective function are carried out. It is shown that the results are effective in the optimum modification for dynamic characteristics of the stiffened plate.

  • Dynamic optimization with partially structured model in a slurry-phase HDPE reactor is implemented by the modified hierarchical dynamic optimization. Optimal trajectories of MI and density of HDPE are calculated as controlled variables and optimal profiles of the concentrations of ethylene, hydrogen and comonomer are calculated as manipulated variables in dynamic optimization. MI, density, the concentrations of ethylene, hydrogen and comonomer are used as controlled variables and flow rates of ethylene, hydrogen and comonomer are sued as manipulated variables in control implementation. Two-level hierarchical method is applied in dynamic optimization to reduce computation time. In the upper level formulation ...

  • This paper presents a multi-step structural design optimization method fur machine tool structures using a genetic algorithm with dynamic penalty. The first step is a sectional topology optimization, which is to determine the best sectional construction that minimize the structural weight and the compliance responses subjected to some constraints. The second step is a static design optimization, in which the weight and the static compliance response are minimized under some dimensional and safety constraints. The third step is a dynamic design optimization, where the weight static compliance, and dynamic compliance of the structure are minimized under the same constraints. The proposed design method was examined on the 10-bar truss problem of topology and sizing optimization. And the results showed that our solution is better than or just about the same as the best one of the previous researches. Furthermore, we applied this method to the topology and sizing optimization of a crossbeam slider for a high-speed machining center. The topology optimization result gives the best desirable cross-section shape whose weight was reduced by 38.8% than the original configuration. The subsequent static and dynamic design optimization reduced the weight, static and dynamic compliances by 5.7 %, 2.1% and 19.1% respectively from the topology-optimized model. The examples demonstrated the feasibility of the suggested design optimization method.

  • This paper presents a method for estimating the parameters of dynamic models for induction motor dominating loads. Using particle swarm optimization, the method finds the adequate set of parameters that best fit the sampling data from the measurement for a period of time, minimizing the error of the outputs, active and reactive power demands and satisfying the steady-state error criterion.

  • High performance concrete (HPC) depends on various parameters such as the type of cement, aggregate and water reducer amount. Generally, the ready concrete company in various regions according to the requirements and costs, mix design of concrete as well as type of cement, aggregates, and, amount of other components will vary as a result of moment decisions or dynamic optimization, though the ideal conditions will be more applicable for the design of mix proportion of concrete. This study aimed to apply dynamic optimization for mix design of HPC; consequently, the objective function, decision variables, input and output variables and constraints are defined and also the proposed dynamic optimization model is validated by experimental results. Results indicate that dynamic optimization objective function can be defined in such a way that the compressive strength or performance of all constraints is simultaneously examined, so changing any of the variables at each step of the process input and output data changes the dynamic of the process which makes concrete mix design formidable.

  • The traffic flow in an urban area is affected by the date, weather, and regional traffic flow. The existing methods are weak to model the dynamic road network features, which results in inadequate long-term prediction performance. To solve the problems regarding insufficient capacity for dynamic modeling of road network structures and insufficient mining of dynamic spatio-temporal features. In this study, we propose a novel traffic flow prediction framework called shared spatio-temporal attention convolution optimization network (SSTACON). The shared spatio-temporal attention convolution layer shares a spatio-temporal attention structure, that is designed to extract dynamic spatio-temporal features from historical traffic conditions. Subsequently, the graph optimization module is used to model the dynamic road network structure. The experimental evaluation conducted on two datasets shows that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art methods at all time intervals.

  • This paper deals with dynamic optimal pricing for new products by a firm which maximizes the discounted profit stream of it's own in a duopoly. The problem is constructed as differential games and dynamic optimization theory. Cost is assumed to decline as time goes on. A modified customer's choice model is formulated as a diffusion model and we solve a dynamic optimization problem by adopting the diffusion model. Since this paper focus on deriving real prices not showing a time trend, we formulate recursive form equations of costate variables(shadow price) and a simultaneous equation of price. Hence we derive a dynamic optimal pricing model for using in real market. In particular, we construct a dynamic optimal pricing model in the case that there are benefits from not only new subscribers but also previous subscribers. We analyze instant camera market in U.S.A(1976-1985) by utilizing the above model.

  • This paper introduces an optimized design for a sensor bracket used to measure the wear amount of an automobile brake pad, based on a dynamic kriging surrogate model. During testing, the temperature of the brake pad can increase beyond 600℃, which often causes sensor malfunction. Therefore, it is essential to optimize the shape of the sensor bracket to minimize heat transfer. To reduce the computational cost of the optimization, the heat-transfer simulation is replaced by a dynamic kriging surrogate model. Dynamic kriging utilizes the best combination of correlation and basis functions and constructs an accurate surrogate model. Following optimization, the temperature of the sensor position decreases by 7.57%. The results from the surrogate model under optimum conditions are verified by a heat-transfer simulation, and the design optimization using a surrogate model is found to be effective.
