Preparation and Physicochemical Characterization of Sea Tangle Vinegar for Utilization as Vinegar-Based Salad Dressing (식초기반 샐러드 드레싱용 다시마 식초 제조 및 이화학적 특성)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to prepare sea tangle vinegar and test its applicability as a vinegar-based functional salad dressing in terms of physicochemical properties. Methods: Sea tangle vinegar was prepared by mixing sea tangle with sugar and vinegar and fermenting the mixture at room temperature for 3 months. The resulting sea tangle vinegar was examined for its physicochemical properties and antioxidant activity with brewed vinegar and persimmon vinegar as controls. Results: The sea tangle vinegar showed significantly higher viscosity than control vinegars, and shear thinning behavior that is typical for salad dressing containing polymers. In addition, storage modulus (G′) of sea tangle vinegar was relatively high in dynamic viscosity measurement while that of control vinegars remained negligible. Together with the high soluble solids content of sea tangle vinegar, rheological behavior indicates that sea tangle vinegar had soluble polysaccharides extracted from sea tangle, consequently leading to an increase in viscosity. Titratable acidity (TA) and pH were 2.52% and 3.58, respectively, which satisfies the TA and pH requirements for microbiological safety of a salad dressing. Absorbance at 285 nm and Folin Ciocalteu's reagent method revealed that sea tangle vinegar contained antioxidative phenolic compounds. Conclusion: This study demonstrates that sea tangle vinegar could be potentially developed as a vinegar-based functional salad dressing when combined with sensory evaluation in the future.

  • Photoisomerization characteristics of 4-octyl-4'-(5-carboxy-pentamethyleneoxy) azobenzene molecules (8A5H) were attained by measurement of absorbtion spectra. 8A5H in chroloform($6.0{\times}10^{-5}[M/l]$) shows trans to cis and cis to trans isomerization by irradiation of lights of 360[nm] and 450[nm] wavelength. From LB monolayer films of 8A5H, also the cis/trans photoisomerization was obtained and it has reversibility and memory characteristics. We are now trying to detect these properties of 8A5H electrically. On this paper, we investigated the structural changes of monolayer on the water surface by measuring the displacement current as a preliminary experiment. The measuring system was constructed at home-made Kuhn type LB(Langmuir-Blodgett) deposition apparatus. 8A5H solution was spreaded at the air-water interface and the currents induced by the dynamic behavior of molecules were measured when the molecules were pressed by barrier. The reversibility of displacement currents by compression and expansion was obtained from 8A5H molecules, which shows the compressed molecules have a tendency to disperse after the compression. From this experiment, we conclude that the behavior of molecules on water surface can be monitored electrically by using this current measuring method, and this method can also be applied to detect the photoisomerization of monolayers on water surface.

The Wearable Sensor System to Monitor the Head & Neck Posture in Daily Life (웨어러블 센서를 이용한 일상생활중 머리-목 자세 측정 시스템)

  • The neck pain is fairly common occurance. Forward head posture and text neck are poor postures which may be related with neck pain but the evidence is not enough. We developed the wearable sensor which can assess the head & neck posture in daily life. Microprocessor, Bluetooth low energy, and 3-axis accelerometer, rechargeable battery and vibratior for reminding are used to implement the wearable sensor. Real-time algorithm to parameterize the posture for one epoch is implemented which classifies the posture in the epoch into three classed; dynamic, static_good posture, and static_poor posture. Also the algorithm makes reminding to its wearer to give them the prolonged poor posture is detected. The mean error of measurement was 1.2 degree. The correlation coefficient between neck angle and craniovertebral angle was 0.9 or higher in all cases. With the pilot study on text neck syndrome was also quatified. Average of neck angle were 74.3 degree during the listening in the classroom and 57.8 degree during the smartphoning. Using the wearable sensor suggested, the poor postures of forward head posture and neck neck can be detected in real-time which can remind the wearer according to his/her setting.

  • KARI precision attitude determination system has been developed for high accurate geo-coding of KOMPSAT-2 image. Sensor data from two star trackers and a IRU are used as measurement and dynamic data. Sensor data from star tracker are composed of QUEST and unit vector filter. Filter algorithms consists of extended Kalman filter, unscented Kalman filter, and least square batch filter. The type of sensor data and filter algorithm can be chosen by user options. Estimated parameters are Euler angle from 12000 frame to optical bench frame, gyro drift rate bias, gyro scale factor, misalignment angle of star tracker coordinate frame with respect to optical bench frame, and misalignment angle of gyro coordinate frame with respect to optical bench frame. In particular, ground control point data can be applied for estimating misalignment angle of star tracker coordinate frame. Through the simulation, KPADS is able to satisfy the KOMPSAT-2 mission requirement in which geo-location accuracy of image is 80 m (CE90) without ground control point.

승객석 Restraiant System의 구속 효과와 인체상해 연구 -어린이(6세)탑승자 중심으로-

  • 과거 8년간의(1985-1992) 통계에 의하면 정면과 측면 충돌시 구속 시스텡의 하나인 Airbag장착 차량의 사망자 및 중상자 수가 현저히 감소하고 있는 것으로 나타나고있다. 그 러나 최근 소비자로 부터의 Airbag에 관한 불만을 보고 받고 있다. 즉 구속효과를 발휘함에 있어 부수적으로 인체 부상을 유발하고 있다는 것이다. 사망내지는 심각한 부상은 방지하고 있으나 경미한 부상은 오히려 증가하고 또한 신체가 적은 여성 운전자나 6세 이하의 어린이 에게는 심각한 부상의 우려가 있다는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 구속시스템의 총아인 Airbag 시스템의 심각한 부수적인 부상 보고를 입증하기 위하여 우리나라 어린이 6세 신체를 기준 으로하여 구속시스템을 착용하지 않았을 경우(실제로 많은 경우), seat belt만 착용시, Airbag만 작용시, 그리고 seat belt와 Airbag을 동시에 사용할 때를 컴퓨터 Simulation Package 이용 신체 dynamic을 모의실험 하였다. 실험결과, 기존에 알려진바와 같이 구속시스템을 사용하지 않았을 경우에 부상은 매우 컸다. 신체 사이즈가 작은 어린이 혹은 여성 운전자의 경우 Seat belt만을 사용한 경우는 Airbag만을 사용한 경우보다는 부상정도가 약간 경미하였으나 두 경우 모두 인체가 구속시스템의 구속 범위를 이탈하여 구속 시스템으로써의 역할을 충분히 하지 못하고 있었다. 특히 Seat belt와 Airbag을 동시에 사용하였을시에도 Airbag이 충분히 개선된 이후라도 신체 사이즈가 작은 경우에는 흉부부위에 의한 충격 흡수가 먼저 이루어지지 못하고, 머리에 먼저 Airbag이 접촉이 되어 충격 흡수 역할보다는 반동효과가 더 커서 머리 및 몸체가 뒤로 Rebound 하는 효과로 머리, 혹은 목의 신체 부상한계를 넘고 있어 큰 부상 내지는 사망에 이르고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 사료된다.의 결과는 자전거 에르고노미터의 결과가 트레드밀의 결과에 87.60%정도 나타났다.음을 관찰하였다. 특히 vitamin C와 E의 병용투여는 상승적으로 적용하여 간세포손상을 더욱 억제시킴을 알 수 있었다.mance and on TFP(Total Factor Productivity) growth which is a pure measure of firm performance.   • The accuracy of small and low-cost CCD cameras is insufficient to provide data for precisely tracking unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This study shows how a quad rotor UAV can hover on a human targeted tracking object by using data from a CCD camera rather than imprecise GPS data. To realize this, quadcopter UAVs need to recognize their position and posture in known environments as well as unknown environments. Moreover, it is necessary for their localization to occur naturally. It is desirable for UAVs to estimate their position by solving uncertainty for quadcopter UAV hovering, as this is one of the most important problems. In this paper, we describe a method for determining the altitude of a quadcopter UAV using image information of a moving object like a walking human. This method combines the observed position from GPS sensors and the estimated position from images captured by a fixed camera to localize a UAV. Using the a priori known path of a quadcopter UAV in the world coordinates and a perspective camera model, we derive the geometric constraint equations that represent the relation between image frame coordinates for a moving object and the estimated quadcopter UAV's altitude. Since the equations are based on the geometric constraint equation, measurement error may exist all the time. The proposed method utilizes the error between the observed and estimated image coordinates to localize the quadcopter UAV. The Kalman filter scheme is applied for this method. Its performance is verified by a computer simulation and experiments.

A 0.13-㎛ Zero-IF CMOS RF Receiver for LTE-Advanced Systems

  • This paper presents a zero-IF CMOS RF receiver, which supports three channel bandwidths of 5/10/40MHz for LTE-Advanced systems. The receiver operates at IMT-band of 2,500 to 2,690MHz. The simulated noise figure of the overall receiver is 1.6 dB at 7MHz (7.5 dB at 7.5 kHz). The receiver is composed of two parts: an RF front-end and a baseband circuit. In the RF front-end, a RF input signal is amplified by a low noise amplifier and $G_m$ with configurable gain steps (41/35/29/23 dB) with optimized noise and linearity performances for a wide dynamic range. The proposed baseband circuit provides a -1 dB cutoff frequency of up to 40MHz using a proposed wideband OP-amp, which has a phase margin of $77^{\circ}$ and an unit-gain bandwidth of 2.04 GHz. The proposed zero-IF CMOS RF receiver has been implemented in $0.13-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology and consumes 116 (for high gain mode)/106 (for low gain mode) mA from a 1.2 V supply voltage. The measurement of a fabricated chip for a 10-MHz 3G LTE input signal with 16-QAM shows more than 8.3 dB of minimum signal-to-noise ratio, while receiving the input channel power from -88 to -12 dBm.

  • As wind has become one of the fastest growing renewable energy sources, the key issue of wind energy conversion systems is how to efficiently operate the wind turbines in a wide range of wind speeds. The wind speed has a huge impact on the dynamic response of wind turbine. For this purpose, many control algorithms are in need for a method to measure wind speed to increase performance. Unfortunately, no accurate measurement of the effective wind speed is online available from direct measurements, which means that it must be estimated in order to make such control methods applicable in practice. In this paper, a new method based on Kalman filter and artificial neural network is presented for the estimation of the effective wind speed. To verify the performance of the proposed scheme, some simulation studies are carried out.

  • The cure kinetics of carbon fiber-reinforced prepreg for Vacuum Bag Only(VBO) process was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The total heat of reaction (ΔHtotal = 537.1 J/g) was defined by the dynamic scanning test using prepregs and isothermal scanning tests were performed at 130℃~180℃. The test results of isothermal scanning were observed that the heat of reaction was increased as the temperature elevated. The Kratz model was applied to analyze the cure kinetics of resin based on the test results. To verify the simulation model, the degree of cure from panels using different cure cycles were compared with the measurement. The simulation model showed that the error against the experimental value was less than 3.4%.

  • In this paper the buckling and post-buckling behavior of slender bars under self-weight are studied. In order to study the post-buckling behavior of the bar, a geometrically exact formulation for the non-linear analysis of uni-directional structural elements is presented, considering arbitrary load distribution and boundary conditions. From this formulation one obtains a set of first-order coupled nonlinear equations which, together with the boundary conditions at the bar ends, form a two-point boundary value problem. This problem is solved by the simultaneous use of the Runge-Kutta integration scheme and the Newton-Raphson method. By virtue of a continuation algorithm, accurate solutions can be obtained for a variety of stability problems exhibiting either limit point or bifurcational-type buckling. Using this formulation, a detailed parametric analysis is conducted in order to study the buckling and post-buckling behavior of slender bars under self-weight, including the influence of boundary conditions on the stability and large deflection behavior of the bar. In order to evaluate the quality and accuracy of the results, an experimental analysis was conducted considering a clamped-free thin-walled metal bar. As this kind of structure presents a high index of slenderness, its answers could be affected by the introduction of conventional sensors. In this paper, an experimental methodology was developed, allowing the measurement of static or dynamic displacements without making contact with the structure, using digital image processing techniques. The proposed experimental procedure can be used to a wide class of problems involving large deflections and deformations. The experimental buckling and post-buckling behavior compared favorably with the theoretical and numerical results.
