The effect of dead loads on dynamic responses of a uniform elastic beam subjected to moving loads is examined by means of a governing equation which takes into account initial bending stresses due to dead loads. First, the governing equation of beams which includes the effect of dead loads is briefly presented from the author's paper (1990, 1991, 2010). The effect of dead loads is considered by a strain energy produced by conservative initial stresses caused by the dead loads. Second, the effect of dead loads on dynamical responses produced by moving loads in simply supported beams is confirmed by the results of numerical computations using the Galerkin method and Wilson-${\theta}$ method. It is shown that the dynamical responses by moving loads are decreased remarkably on a heavyweight beam when the effect of dead loads is included. Third, an approximate solution of dynamic deflections including the effect of dead loads for a uniform beam subjected to moving loads is presented in a closed-form for the case without the additional mass due to moving loads. The proposed solution shows a good agreement with results of numerical computations with the Galerkin method and Wilson-${\theta}$ method. Finally it is clarified that the effect of dead loads on elastic uniform beams subjected to moving loads acts on the restraint of the transverse vibration for the both cases without and with the additional mass due to moving loads.
The purposes of this study is to examine the effect of fitness among entrepreneurship, dynamic capabilities and innovation activities on business performance. A survey was conducted and analyzed on small & medium manufacturing companies in Korea with the following result of the study. First, the fitness of entrepreneurship and dynamic capabilities, the fitness of dynamic capabilities and innovation activities, the fitness of entrepreneurship and innovation activities have a significant effect on business performance respectively. Second, the fitness of all the three variables also has a significant positive effect on the performance. Additional path analysis shows that dynamic capabilities and innovation activities have mediating roles between entrepreneurship and business performance. The results imply that not only each of the entrepreneurship, dynamic capabilities, and innovation activities has a positive effect on business performance but also the three factors in harmony have a synergic positive effect on the business performance.

The on-line detection of the chip flow is one of the most important technologies in com- pletly automatic operation of machine tool, such as FMS and Unmanned Factories. This problem has been studied by many researchers, however, it is not solved as yet. For the recognition of chip flow in this study, the dynamic cutting force components due to the chip breaking were measured by dynamometer of piezo-electric type, and the frequency components of cutting force were also analyzed. From the measured results, the effect of cutting conditions and tool geometry on the dynamic cutting force component and chip formation were investigated in addition to the relationships between frequency of chip breaking (fB) and side serrated crack (fC) of chip. As a result, the following conclusions were obtaianed. 1) The chip formations have a large effect on the dynamic cutting force components. When chip breaking takes place, the dynamic cutting force component greatly increases, and the peridoic components appear, which correspond to maximum peak- frequency. 2) The crater wear of tool has a good effect on the chip control causing the chiup to be formed as upward-curl shape. In this case, the dymamic cutting force component greatly increases also 3) fB and fC of chip are closely corelated, and fC of chips has a large effect on the change of the situation of chip flow and dynamic cutting force component. 4) Under wide cutting conditions, the limit value (1.0 kgf) of dynamic cutting force component exists between the broken and continuous chips. Accordingly, this value is suitable for recognition of chip flow in on-line control of the cutting process.
Based on the dynamic tests of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) short columns confined by the hoop reinforcement, the dynamic failure mechanism and the mechanical parameters related to the constitutive relation of confined recycled aggregate concrete (CRAC) were investigated thoroughly. The fracturing sections were relatively flat and smooth at higher strain rates rather than those at a quasi-static strain rate. With the increasing stirrup volume ratio, the crack mode is transited from splitting crack to slipping crack constrained with large transverse confinement. The compressive peak stress, peak strain, and ultimate strain increase with the increase of stirrup volume ratio, as well as the increasing strain rate. The dynamic confining increase factors of the compressive peak stress, peak strain, and ultimate strain increase by about 33%, 39%, and 103% when the volume ratio of hoop reinforcement is increased from 0 to 2%, but decrease by about 3.7%, 4.2%, and 9.1% when the stirrup spacing is increased from 20mm to 60mm, respectively. This sentence is rephrased as follows: When the stirrup volume ratios are up to 0.675%, and 2%, the contributions of the hoop confinement effect to the dynamic confining increase factors of the compressive peak strain and the compressive peak stress are greater than those of the strain rate effect, respectively. The dynamic confining increase factor (DCIF) models of the compressive peak stress, peak strain, and ultimate strain of CRAC are proposed in the paper. Through the confinement of the hoop reinforcement, the ductility of RAC, which is generally slightly lower than that of NAC, is significantly improved.

The purpose of the present study is to examine the dynamic interaction characteristics between moving maglev vehicle and guideway bridge system. For this purpose, the dynamic governing equation of 2-dof maglev vehicle using optimal feedback control scheme of LQG was derived with or without consideration of the dynamic interaction between vehicle and guideway bridge system. From the parametric study, it was found that the dynamic interaction effect between bridge and vehicle was large in case of neglecting the railway roughness effect. But if the railway roughness effect was considered, it was observed two analysis results with or without consideration of the dynamic interaction did not show big difference. As a conclusion, it is required to take into account the dynamic interaction effect of bridge and maglev vehicle and the railway roughness for precise evaluation of runnability of maglev vehicle and impact factor of guideway.
The dynamic response of structures under extremely short duration dynamic loads is of great concern nowadays. This paper investigates structures' response as well as the associated structural damage to explosive loads considering and ignoring the supporting soil flexibility effect. In the analysis, buildings are modeled by two alternate approaches namely, (1) building with fixed supports, (2) building with supports accounting for soil-flexibility. A lumped parameter model with spring-dashpot elements is incorporated at the base of the building model to simulate the horizontal and rotational movements of supporting soil. The soil flexibility for various shear wave velocities has been considered in the investigation. In addition, the influence of variation of lateral natural periods of building models on the obtained response and peak response time-histories besides damage indices has also been investigated under blast loads with different peak over static pressures. The Dynamic response is obtained by solving the governing equations of motion of the considered building model using a developed Matlab code based on the finite element toolbox CALFEM. The predicted results expressed in time-domain by the building model incorporating SSI effect are compared with the corresponding model results ignoring soil flexibility effect. The results show that the effect of surrounding soil medium leads to significant changes in the obtained dynamic response of the considered systems and hence cannot be simply ignored in damage assessment and response time-histories of structures where it increases response and amplifies damage of structures subjected to blast loads. Moreover, the numerical results provide an understanding of level of damage of structure through the computed damage indices.

The government is actively implementing a start-up infrastructure and start-up support policy for successful start-up companies. However, the actual success rate of start-up companies is not high. In order to improve the performance of a start-up company, it is necessary to have a strategy that has the right entrepreneurship and efficiently utilizes its resources. In particular, opportunity exploration, resource acquisition and resource reorganization are dynamic capabilities that are very necessary for the growth of a start-up company. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to verify the effects and relationships of entrepreneurship and dynamic competence of business startups on management performance. For this study, a survey was conducted on CEOs of start-up companies less than seven years old, and 361 final samples were used to analyze data. The results of this study are as follows. The innovation, risk-taking and initiative of entrepreneurship were found to have a positive effect on dynamic capabilities. Second, the innovation and risk-taking of entrepreneurship had a significant positive effect on management performance, but initiative was found to have no significant effect. Third, it was found that dynamic capabilities had a significant positive effect on management performance. Lastly, the verification of the mediated effect of dynamic capabilities showed that there was a mediated effect between initiative and management performance. In other words, this study found a significant research result that effective management of the resources of a start-up company had an effect on management performance and growth when forwardness did not directly affect management performance. This suggests that dynamic capabilities are an important factor in the management performance of start-up companies.

All the loads in the real world are dynamic loads and structural optimization under dynamic loads is very difficult. Thus the dynamic loads are often transformed to static loads by dynamic factors, which are believed equivalent to the dynamic loads. However, due to the difference of load characteristics, there can be considerable differences between the results from static and dynamic analyses. When the natural frequency of a structure is high, the dynamic analysis result is similar to that of static analysis due to the small inertia effect on the behavior of the structure. However, if the natural frequency of the structure is low, the inertia effect should not be ignored. Then, the behavior of the dynamic system is different from that of the static system. The difference of the two cases can be explained from the relationship between the homogeneous and the particular solutions of the differential equation that governs the behavior of the structure. Through various examples, the difference between the dynamic analysis and the static analysis are shown. Also dynamic response optimization results are compared with the results with static loads transformed from dynamic loads by dynamic factors, which show the necessity of the design considering dynamic loads.
Damage detection in civil engineering structures using the change in dynamic system parameters has gained a lot of scientific interest during the last decade. By repeating a dynamic test on a structure after a certain time of use, the change in modal parameters can be used to quantify and qualify damages. To be able to use the modal parameters confidentially for damage evaluation, the effect of other parameters such as excitation type, ambient conditions,... should be considered. In this paper, the influence of excitation type on the dynamic system parameters of a highway prestressed concrete bridge is investigated. The bridge, B13, lies between the villages Vilvoorde and Melsbroek and crosses the highway E19 between Brussels and Antwerpen in Belgium. A drop weight and ambient vibration are used to excite the bridge and the response at selected points is recorded. A finite element model is constructed to support and verify the dynamic measurements. It is found that the difference between the natural frequencies measured using impact weight and ambient vibration is in general less than 1%.
