The purpose of this study was to help the consumer about the care of nonwoven fabrics by investigation of the properties such as launderability. shrinkage, color fastness and strenth. Materials used were two types, soft and stiff, of commercial nonwoven fabrics. Deter-gents used were neutral detergents, synthetic detergents and dry cleaning solutions(perch-toro-ethylene) The results of this study were summerized as follows; 1. Laundering of nonwoven fabrics in low temperature is more ideal as morphological changes by laundering in high temperature were more prominent than that in low temperature. 2. Ironing of nonwoven fabrics wants more attention on environmental temperature as the rate of shrinkage in high temperature was higher than that in low temperature. Neutral detergents are more desirable as the rate of shrinkage of nonwoven fabrics by laundering with synthetic detergents was more prominent than that with neutral deter-gents. The rate of shringkage of nonwoven fabrics was not affected by dry cleanining. 3. Special care is wanted in order to prevent color transfer from non woven fabrics to polyester or wool during dry cleaning or laundering as the color fastness test show that color changes of nonwoven fabrics were not affected, but that color stain was increased on polyester or wool. 4. The strength was affected by composition of fibers and types of nonwoven fabrics, soft or stiff.
To investigate allowable peak cladding temperature and hoop stress for maintenance of cladding integrity during interim-dry storage and subsequent transport, zirconium alloy cladding tubes were hydrogen-charged to generate 250 ppm and 500 ppm hydrogen contents, simulating spent nuclear fuel degradation. The hydrogen-charged specimens were heated to four peak temperatures of $250^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$, $350^{\circ}C$, and $400^{\circ}C$, and then cooled to room temperature at cooling rates of $0.3^{\circ}C/min$ under three tensile hoop stresses of 80 MPa, 100 MPa, and 120 MPa. The cool-down specimens showed that high peak heat-up temperature led to lower hydrogen content and that larger tensile hoop stress generated larger radial hydride fraction and consequently lower plastic elongation. Based on these out-of-pile cladding tube test results only, it may be said that peak cladding temperature should be limited to a level < $250^{\circ}C$, regardless of the cladding hoop stress, to ensure cladding integrity during interim-dry storage and subsequent transport.

Wet and dry aging methods were applied to improve the quality of three different beef cuts (butt, rump, and sirloin) from Hanwoo cows (quality grade 2, approximately 50-mon-old). After 28 d of wet aging (vacuum packaged; temperature, $2{\pm}1^{\circ}C$) and dry aging (air velocity, 2-7 m/s; temperature, $1{\pm}1^{\circ}C$; humidity, $85{\pm}10%$), proximate composition, cooking loss, water holding capacity, shear force, color, nucleotides content, and sensory properties were compared with a non-aged control (2 d postmortem). Both wet and dry aging significantly increased the water holding capacity of the butt cuts. Dry aging in all beef cuts induced lower cooking loss than that in wet-aged cuts. Shear force of all beef cuts was decreased after both wet and dry aging and CIE $L^*$, $a^*$, and $b^*$ color values in butt and sirloin cuts were higher in both wet and dry aging (p<0.05) groups than those in the non-aged control. Regardless of the aging method used, inosine-5'-monophosphate content among beef cuts was the same. The sensory panel scored significantly higher values in tenderness, flavor, and overall acceptability for dry-aged beef regardless of the beef cuts tested compared to non- and wet-aged cuts. In addition, dry-aged beef resulted in similar overall acceptability among the different beef cuts, whereas that in wet-aged meat was significantly different by different beef cuts. In conclusion, both wet and dry aging improved the quality of different beef cuts; however, dry aging was more suitable for improving the quality of less preferred beef cuts.
The mechanical property related to lap shear strength of the joint structure between carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite and metal (Ni-Cr Alloy) under varying environmental conditions (temperature and humidity) was studied in order to apply to the aircraft fan blade. Room temperature dry (RTD), elevated temperature wet (ETW), and cold temperature dry (CTD) environmental conditions were chosen for investigation based on the flight conditions of aircraft. Lap shear strength tests were conducted according to ASTM Standard D3528 to evaluate the shear strength. The microstructure characteristic of failure zone was analyzed by SEM images to check the adhesive shear strength with the three environmental conditions. In comparison with shear strength for the RTD condition, the shear strength in the ETW condition was reduced by 72.8% while those for the CTD condition increased by 56.5%. The moisture absorption and high temperature in ETW condition strongly had an affect on mechanical property of adhesive, while cold temperature could enhance the adhesive shear strength due to the higher brittleness.

Wire drawing is aplastic deformation process that produces a wire with a desired diameter by pulling the end of the wire through a die. During the cold wire drawing process, the temperature between the wire and the die bearing is increased. This temperature increase causesenergy consumption increase, bad wire quality, and decreased die life. To reduce friction and avoid high temperature between the wire and the die in the cold wire drawing process, a dry lubricant with soap particles is used. It is not possible to reused the lubricant onceiron oxide is attached to the soap particlesat high pressure die. In this study, recycling technologies for wasted soap particles with processes of crushing, separation, and screening are developed. From the evaluation, the recycling efficiency was found to be 86.97%.

In this study, unsintered and pre-sintered low purity alumina ceramics were machined with various tools to clarify the machinability, optimum tool materials and optimum cutting conditions. The main conclusions obtained were as follows. (1)In the case of dry cutting, the sintered diamond and natural diamond tools exhibit better performance in machining of the ceramic pre-sintered at lower temperature, and the tool lives of both tools in machining the ceramics pre-sintered at high temperature becomes extremely short. (2)The performance of CBN tool becomes better in dry machining of the ceramics pre-sintered at higher temperature. (3)When the pre-sintered ceramics were wet machined with sintered diamond, the tool life becomes considerably long, and higher cutting speed can be used than in the case of the CBN and ceramic tools, the tool lives becomes shorter at wet cutting than at dry cutting, especially exhibiting extremely short tool life in wet cutting with ceramic tool.
Atmospheric samples were conducted from September 2001 to July 2002 with GPS-l PUF sampler in rural site to concentration distributions of gas/particle PCBs and to calculate dry deposition flux of PCBs. $\Sigma$PCBs concentrations of gas/particle PCBs were 59.29$\pm$48.83, 6.56$\pm$6.59 pg/㎥, respectively. Gas contribution (%) of total PCBs (gas + particle) was 90% which existed gas phase in the atmosphere. The particle contribution (%) of PCB congeners increased relatively more of the less volatile congeners with the highest chlorine number. The correlation coefficients (r) between total PCBs and temperature ($^{\circ}C$) showed negative correlation in - 0.62 (p<0.0l) for particle phase, positive correlation in 0.63 (p<0.01) for gas phase. In other word, particle phase PCBs is enriched in colder weather which could be due to greater in corporation of condensed gas phase at low temperature. The calculated dry deposition of total PCBs (gas + particle) was 0.008, 0.008 $\mu\textrm{g}$$m^{-2}$ da $y^{-l}$ which showed maximum dry deposition flux in December, minimum data in July Bs in the atmosphere. The calculated dry deposition fluxes of total PCBs were influenced by particle phase PCBs even though PCBs in the atmosphere were present primarily in the gas phase.e.
Dry gel composed of primary particles more homogeneous than starting boehmite powder was prepared by dispersing and gelling the boehmite powder. The transformation temperatures of boehmite powder, dry gel seeded with 0, 1, 3, 5 wt% $\alpha$-Al2O3, and ball milled gel were 1192$^{\circ}C$, 1184$^{\circ}C$, 1141$^{\circ}C$, 1119$^{\circ}C$, 1117$^{\circ}C$, and 1106$^{\circ}C$, respectively. Sintering behavior of dry gel without seed was similar to that of boehmite powder, but the sintered density of dry gel was improved as much as 10%~15% than boehmite powder. In the case of dry gel seeded with 5 wt% $\alpha$-Al2O3, sintering behavior was much improved. The relative density of the gel seeded with 5 wt% $\alpha$-Al2O3 was 96% when sintered at 140$0^{\circ}C$ for 1h. On the other hand, ball milling of the non-seeded sol for 48h resulted in the relative density of 97% when sintered at 130$0^{\circ}C$ for 1h. The size and amount of $\alpha$-Al2O3 particles added by ball milling were 0.107 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 0.5 wt%.
Shrinkage properties of drawn textured Poly(trimethylene terephthalate, PTT) yarn, which has been developed recently, were investigated to provide fundamental information for the textile industry. Shrinkage ratio characteristics on PTT yarn with six different count were investigated with tension, dry and wet thermal temperature. In non-tension, the shrinkage ratio were increased to increasing temperature at dry and wet thermal treatment, and in tension, the shrinkage ratio were increased to increasing tension at dry and wet thermal treatment.
