  • In this paper, locations of vertiports were selected and evaluated to operate urban air mobility (UAM) in the Seoul metropolitan area. Demand data were analyzed using the data from the survey of commuting population and were marked on a map using MATLAB. To cluster the data, the K-means algorithm function built in MATLAB was used to identify the center of the cluster to as the location of vertiports, and using the silhouette technique, the accuracy and reliability of the clustering were evaluated. The locations of the selected vertiports were also identified using satellite maps to ensure that the locations of the selected vertiports were suitable for the actual vertiport location, and, if the location was not appropriate, final vertiports were selected through the repositioning process.

  • The restart of scramjet engine is almost impossible in case its unstart happens during engine operation. Therefore, it is essential to prognosticate the scramjet engine unstart phenomena. A numerical simulation of a scramjet engine is conducted to investigate the unstart process of the scramjet engine by adjusting the backpressure at the isolator outlet to the engine analysis environment. The start and unstart of the engine are identified by applying a support vector machine (SVM) through the data measured by wall pressure so that the locations of the pressure sensors most suitable for the unstart detection are selected. And the operation conditions in which the engine is avoid to be unstarted are quantified to perceive the safety margin.

  • In order to detect fires that may not be visible to the naked eye, an IoT module that uses changes in Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels and temperature to effectively identify ambers (dying flames) was developed. Finite element analysis was then used to optimize the packaging for this module. Given the nature of ambers, the low power long range LoRa (Long Range) technology was used in the development of this module. To protect the module, a number of packages were designed, and comparative analysis performed on the stress generated when they fall. The results of which show that Model C showed the lowest stress. In addition, unlike other models in which stress concentration was predicted in the module mounting part of the package, in this model the stress concentration phenomenon was predicted in the wing part. It was therefore determined that this approach is ideal for protecting the internal module, and a package to which this was applied was manufactured.

  • Medication safety and medicine delivery challenge the well-being of the elderly and the management of the elderly center. With the outbreak of COVID-19, the elderly in the care center were challenged by the inconvenience of the medication restocking. The purpose of this paper accentuates the importance of the design and development of an UAV-based Smart Medicine Case (UAV-SMC) to improve the performance of medication management and medicine delivery in the elderly center. The researchers came up with the design of UAV-SMC in the light of the UAV and IoT technology to improve the performance of both Medication Practice Management (MPM) and Low Inventory Detection and Delivery (LIDD). Based on the result, with UAV-SMC, the performance of both MPM and LIDD was significantly improved. The UAV-SMC improves the efficacy of medication management in the elderly center by 26.97 to 149.83 seconds for each medication practice and 9.03 mins for each time of medicine delivery in Subang Jaya Malaysia. This paper only investigates the adoption of UAV-SMC in the content of elderly center rather than other industries. The authors consider integrating the UAV-SMC with the e-pharmacy system in the future. In conclusion, the UAV-SMC has significantly improved the medication management and guard the safety of elderly and caretaker in the elderly in the post-pandemic times.

  • In this paper, we propose a new dataset for AI diagnosis and BLDC motor diagnosis in UAV. In the diagnosis of BLDC motor, PVA(Park's Vector Approach) is difficult to apply due to many ripples of frequency components. However, since the components of ripples are the third harmonics, we propose a method to utilize PVA as circle fitting by applying Savitzky-Golay filter which is excellent for the third harmonics. On the other hand, PVA, a technique to convert from three-phase to two-phase, is always based on the origin during the transformation process. This study demonstrates that the error of the origin and the measured center can be detected and diagnosed in the application process of Circle fitting, and that it can be used as a new data set of AI technology.
