Auto-Leveling of HID Headlamp Using Preview Control

  • A newly developed high intensity discharge (HID) automotive headlamp results in a high luminous gradient at the cutoff line, and proves the superior concept in safer and more com-fortable nighttime driving. This new headlamp technology Provides drivers expanded night vision by a significantly improved light pattern. However, the HID headlamp may dazzle other traffics during traversing a rough road or encountering an unexpected bump. To resolve this problem, an automatic headlamp leveling device is necessary. A preview control is presented for the design of the leveling system. The proposed control algorithm is capable of attenuating a dynamic glare which is one of the major detractors to a driving in dark roads. Computer simulations using ADAMS are carried out to confirm the effectiveness on the control system.

  • In this work a scanning capacitance microscopy(SCaM) by stage driving is proposed and presented some of the experimental results.SCaM is a microscope which scans a surface of materials mechanically in two or two point five dimensions by a capacitance probe with a few tenth $\mu\textrm{m}$ ize tip, and display images of the surface shape or capacitive distribution. The present target of the SCaM is 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$ resolution power which exceeds that of optical microscope. This will become a powerful tool for inspecting ULSI pattern etched by X-ray biological data etc. The experimental system is composed based on a VHD video disk which captures the capacitance changes of the video disk surface and converts it into video signal.

아파트에서의 승강기 수용률 설정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Diversity Factor of Elevators in Apartment Housing)

  • 본 논문에서는 아파트에 시설띈 승강기의 운전실태블 분석하여 승강기 수용률을 설정하였다. 승강기 운전실태를 분석한 결과 승강기 동시운행률은 1년중 9월에 최대값을 나타내었으며 아파트(계단식,20층 기준)에서의 승강기 1일 평균 운행횟수눈 약 800회, 동시운행률의 최대값은 약 40-45%인 것으로 나타냈다. 송강기의 대수별 수용률은 현행 기준치보다 약 10%정도 낮은 것으로 분석되었다.

  • In this paper, an advanced PWM modulation strategy for driving a variable-speed induction motor is introduced. According to this method, the technique of efficiently eliminating harmonics component is achived. A switching pattern was computed making use of the near-proportionality of voltage and frequency in AC machines operating with constant flux. At low magnitudes and low frequencies of the foundamental, many more harmonics are eliminated than at high magnitudes and frequencies. In order to keep the inverter switching frequency constant over the output frequency range, chopping times diminishes as the frequency of the fundamental increases.

  • In recent years, energy prices have soared, which of course have increased costs for railway operators. Simultaneously, the energy market has considerably changed that in most developed countries, it is deregulated, giving railway operators an opportunity to define new ways of using energy. Efficient operation of the railway system is considered as an essential way to energy saving while an efficient management of power level helps to lower the reference subscribed power, giving access to better energy rates. It is studied on the relation between time and force for the energy efficient driving of train in railway when the train is braking according to several slips.

  • Silicon membrane to be used for micropump is fabricated and the deflection of the membrane driven by the electromagnetic force is measured. Silicon and glass are anodic bonded and Si is thinned. Silicon membrane is fabricated by the glass etching. The gold pattern can be protected against HF by the washing and fixing process under the glass etching process. The electromagnetic force is gained by the magnetic field driven by the current flowing through two coils. Deflection of the silicon membrane has a tendency of increasing with the increase of the driving current.

  • This wear debris can be harvested from the lubricants of operating machinery and its morphology is directly related to the damage to the interacting surface from which the particles originated. The morphological identification of wear debris can therefore provide very early detection of a fault and can also often facilitate a diagnosis. The purpose of this study is to attempt the developement of intelligent system for moving condition diagnosis of the machine driving system. The four shape parameter(50% volumetric diameter, aspect, roundness and reflectivity) of war debris are used as inputs to the neural network and learned the moving condition of five values(material3, applied load 1, sliding distance 1). It is shown that identification results depend on the ranges of these shape parameter learned. The three kinds of the wear debris had a different pattern characteristics and recognized the moving condition and materials very well by neural network.

전동식 지게차의 진동저감에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Vibration Reduction of a Forklift with an Electric Motor)

  • In this paper, vibration sources of an electric forklift are identified and the forklift vibrations are reduced by structural modification. For vibration identification, vibration signals are measured by an accelerometer when the forklift is moving. These signals are presented in a waterfall plot in order to find the dependency of frequency components on the forklift speed. It is found that main vibration source is tire pattern excitation. From some experiments and finite element analyses, it is also found that resonances occur because the natural frequencies of the forklift exist in usual driving speed range. To shift the natural frequencies outside the driving speed range, the connection parts between main body and loader are modified to increase stiffness. It is verified that considerable amount of vibration are reduced by the structural modification.

  • Piezoelectric element is deformed by driving voltage pattern. We developed a device of moving LD(laser disk) to use the rapid deformation of piezoelectric element. If driving voltage is changed very rapidly, the difference of acceleration is accurred between spindle motor and LD. To move LD on turn table is attained by utilizing difference of acceleration. This paper describes theoretical and experimental results about the movement of LD and presents to measure the center of mass LD with unbalance force.

  • For the correct estimation of air pollutant emission from automobiles which is the largest contributor of metropolitan area air pollution, the total pollutant emission from automobiles should be estimated accurately. Nationwide emissions from automobiles, such as CO, HC and NOx, are calculated by using emission factor and total VMT(vehicle miles traveled). The emission factors were derived from the emissions data on chassis dynamometer with test modes which represent the real driving patterns. In the present study, test modes to derive the emission factors for light duty vehicles are developed by using the real driving pattern data for the urban, suburban and express way.
