  • In this study, it is investigated the relationship between sitting discomfort and major design variables of lumber support, such as prominence, height and width through volunteer tests. Korean $50^{th}$ percentile males and American $50^{th}$ percentile males are recruited among 36 to 45 years old peoples who have driving experiences and have no back pain during the past 12 months. Subject ratings are asked by changing design variables randomly. Body pressure and lumber position changes are also measured as object measures. And correlation among subject ratings, object measures and three design variables are analyzed using statistical analysis. As a result, it is revealed that prominence is the most dominant factor that correlates to the discomfort strongly for both-Koreans and Americans and contribution of other two variables are very low.

  • At present, wind power is the fastest growing technology in the world. The domestic market depends heavily on imports for wind tower lift. so it manage through the overseas maker. The lift manufacture, establishment and maintenance utility is increasing, localization development of one wind tower lift is necessary with domestic fundamental base technique. In this paper, we will study the components necessary for the development of onshore offshore wind tower elevators, which are currently dependent on total imports, in line with the high growth of the wind market and the enlargement of the wind power generators. First of all, endless winders and cabins, which are the core components of the offshore wind tower lift, were examined for the components that affect the structural safety. Structural analysis was performed on Sheave, which is responsible for most of the lift lifting loads, and Block Stop, a safety device that prevents the cabin from falling in an emergency. The structural suitability was evaluated by comparing with the safety factor. In addition, the on-board control panel combines the control panel of the elevator and the drive motor driving the endless winder for efficient control of the offshore wind tower lift. The addition of features improves ride comfort at departure.

  • Strut insulator in a vehicle is an important part to prevent noise and vibration which is created for driving on the road. Most of the viscoelastic-mounts are made of rubber and natural rubber is the key ingredient. These rubber products show well performance for the initial time, but they will degrade after they are exposed to a high temperature circumstance and a cyclic load. NVH performance and comfort in a vehicle were decreased by these degradation of the rubber. In this study, spring displacement in a vehicle was measured to make a profile in the simulation test performed with an acceleration sensor. In addition, acceleration level, rubber permanent deformation and hardness of the rubber were measured according to drive distance and vehicle model.

  • The vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is currently an important approach to improve personal safety and driving comfort. ANEL is a MAC-based authentication scheme that offers all the advantages of MAC-based authentication schemes and overcomes all their limitations at the same time. In addition, the given scheme, ANEL, can achieve the security objectives such as authentication, privacy preservation, non-repudiation, etc. In addition, our scheme provides effective bio-password login, system key update, bio-password update, and other security services. Additionally, in the proposed scheme, the Trusted Authority (TA) can disclose the source driver and vehicle of each malicious message. The heavy traffic congestion increases the number of messages transmitted, some of which need to be secretly transmitted between vehicles. Therefore, ANEL requires lightweight mechanisms to overcome security challenges. To ensure security in our ANEL scheme we can use cryptographic techniques such as elliptic curve technique, session key technique, shared key technique and message authentication code technique. This article proposes a new efficient and light authentication scheme (ANEL) which consists in the protection of texts transmitted between vehicles in order not to allow a third party to know the context of the information. A detail of the mapping from text passing to elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) to the inverse mapping operation is covered in detail. Finally, an example of application of the proposed steps with an illustration

  • Regularly inspecting vehicle tires' condition is imperative for driving safety and comfort. Poorly maintained tires can pose fatal risks, leading to accidents. Unfortunately, manual tire visual inspections are often considered no less laborious than employing an automatic tire inspection system. Nevertheless, an automated tire inspection method can significantly enhance driver compliance and awareness, encouraging routine checks. Therefore, there is an urgency for automated tire inspection solutions. Here, we focus on developing a deep learning (DL) model to predict cracked tires. The main idea of this study is to demonstrate the comparative analysis of DenseNet121, VGG-19 and EfficientNet Convolution Neural Network-based (CNN) Transfer Learning (TL) and suggest which model is more recommended for cracked tire classification tasks. To measure the model's effectiveness, we experimented using a publicly accessible dataset of 1028 images categorized into two classes. Our experimental results obtain good performance in terms of accuracy, with 0.9515. This shows that the model is reliable even though it works on a dataset of tire images which are characterized by homogeneous color intensity.

  • DAS(Driver Assistance Systems) support the driver's decision making to increase safety and comfort by issuing the naming signals or even exert the active control in case of dangerous conditions. Most previous research and products intend to offer only a single warning service like the lane departure warning, collision warning, lane change assistance, etc. Although these functions elevate the driving safety and convenience to a certain degree, New type of DAS will be developed to integrate all the important functions with an efficient HMI (Human-Machine Interface) framework for various driving conditions. We propose an all-around sensing based on the integrated DAS that can also remove the blind spots using 2 cameras and 8 sonars, recognize the driving environment by lane and vehicle detection, construct a novel birds-eye HMI for easy comprehension. it can give proper warning in case of imminent danger.

  • The automotive seat is an important component that moves in sync with the driver and is actively being developed with various new functions. The aim of this work is to develop a lightweight seat cushion extension module using a lightweight material. To this end, a structural strength analysis, vertical strength test, and durability test were conducted. In the structural analysis, the maximum value of deformation under vertical load was 4.98 mm at the front of the upper panel. The maximum stress was approximately 105 MPa, which occurred at the point of contact between the upper and lower panels of the module. The vertical strength test showed a maximum vertical deformation of 5.31 mm under a vertical load, which differed from the analysis results by approximately 6.45%. The structural safety of the product was verified by the fact that it showed no harmful deformation or damage during operation after the vertical strength test and a durability test for 20,000 cycles. Furthermore, the use of engineering plastics made it possible to reduce the weight by approximately 30% compared to existing products. The lack of damage after tests verified the passenger safety, strength, and rigidity of the product. The results are expected to be applied for improving environmental and fuel efficiency regulations and preventing accidents due to driver fatigue. The applications of this module could be expanded various types of vehicles, as well as other industries in which eco-friendly and lightweight materials are used.

  • Currently, existing car following models among several basic systems of advanced vehicle systems are almost developed related to the physical relation between two vehicles except for the driver's behavior or environmental factors. But the consideration of driver's character and environmental factors on driving are very essential factors for actual application. Hence, we suggested calibrating the degree of driver's discomfort on driving that is the former study to develop a new car following model of advanced vehicle to use in actuality. The degree of driver's discomfortness (Measure-of-Alarmness; MOA)is measured related to the relationship between the following vehicle and the preceding vehicle, the environmental factors and driver's characters in ubiquitous traffic. We made up questions to drivers to obtain the general and the objective measurement of driver's MOA. And the fuzzy logic model for measurement of MOA was constructed based on the results of survey. We verified the suitability of fuzzy logic model through the computation of MOA with several scenarios. And we measured the quantitative degree of driver's discomfortness on car following related to several factors which affect drivers. In accordance with this study, development of car following model applying driver's MOA will promote the actual application of advanced vehicle more effectively than the existing models. Finally, we thought the measurement of driver's MOA will be applied significantly to evaluate safety and comfort of drivers on driving.

  • A magnetically levitating capsule train, which runs inside the sub-vacuum tube, can reach ultra-fast speeds by dramatically reducing the aerodynamic drag and friction. The capsule train uses the superconductor electrodynamic suspension (SC-EDS) method for levitation. The SC-EDS method has advantages, such as a large levitation gap and free of gap control, which could reduce the infra-construction cost. On the other hand, disadvantages, such as the large variation of the levitation-guidance gap and small damping characteristics in levitation-guidance force, could degrade the running stability and ride comfort of the capsule train. In this study, a dynamic analytical model of a capsule train based on the SC-EDS was developed to analyze the running dynamic characteristics. First, as important factors in the capsule train dynamics, the levitation and guidance stiffness in the SC-EDS system were derived, which depend non-linearly on the velocity and gap variation. A 3D dynamic analysis model for capsule trains was developed based on the derived stiffness. Through the developed model, the effects of the different running speeds on the ride comfort were analyzed. The effects of a disturbance from infrastructure, such as the curve radius, tube sag, and connection joint difference, on the running stability of the capsule train, were also analyzed.
