  • In this paper, we designed a Self-Oscillating mixer(SOM) for Microwave Transceiver. Implemention of SOM shows the output power of 4.33dBm at 10.750Hz and the phase-noise of -102dBc/Hz at 100KHZ offset frequency, Applying the input frequency band 11.7GHz∼12.9GHz, The designed SOM If frequency is 950MHz∼2150MHz and its conversion gain is 6dB in the If band. We convinced that SOM is applied to a digital transceiver down-converter

  • In this paper, CMOS RF front-end circuits for an L1/L5 dual-band global positioning system (GPS)/Galileo receiver are designed in $0.13\;{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The RF front-end circuits are composed of an RF single-to-differential low noise amplifier, an RF polyphase filter, two down-conversion mixers, two transimpedance amplifiers, a IF polyphase filter, four de-coupling capacitors. The CMOS RF front-end circuits provide gains of 43 dB and 44 dB, noise figures of 4 dB and 3 dB and consume 3.6 mW and 4.8 mW from 1.2 V supply voltage for L1 and L5, respectively.

  • Today, the obstacle detection system has massive size and restrictive detection range. To solve these problems, this paper proposes the capacitance variation detector using the variated capacitance value as a result of the obstacle approaching. If obstacle approaches, the capacitance value of capacitance sensor is increased and the operating frequency of oscillator is decreased. Then this changed frequency appears to the output of the mixer that operate down conversion. The capacitance variation detector is produced by Hynix$0.35{\mu}$ CMOS process. In experiment result, the frequency of final output is 6.81 MHz at no obstacle and 31.45 MHz at approaching obstacle. In conclusion, proposed capacitance variation detector has small size, low power consumption and easiness to set up anywhere. So it is expected to substitute the obstacle detector.

  • In this paper, a DBM(double balanced mixer) of 2 GHz is implemented on FR4(h=1.6mm, ${\epsilon}_r=4.6$) substrate. The structure of double balanced mixer requires, in general, two talons and a quad diode. For balun, a novel planar balun using microstrip to CPS(Coplanar Strip) is suggested and designed. The suggested balun shows the phase imbalance of $180^{\circ}{\pm}1.5^{\circ}$ and the amplitude imbalance of ${\pm}0.2 dB$ for 1.5 to 2.5 GHz. Using the balun, DBM is successfully implemented, and the measured conversion loss of up/down converter show about 6 dB over the bandwidth. The balun may be applicable for MMIC(Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit) DBM with the process supporting backside via though more study.

  • This paper presents a new development for topology optimization of heat-dissipating structure with forced convection. To cool down electric devices or machines, two types of convection models have been widely used: Natural convection model with a large Archimedes number and Forced convection with a small Archimedes number. Nowadays, many engineering application areas such as electrochemical conversion device or fuel cell devices adopt the forced convection to transfer generated heat. Therefore, to our knowledge, it becomes an important issue to design flow channels inside which generated heat transfer. Thus, this paper studies optimal topological designs considering fluid-heat interaction. To consider the effect of the advection in the heat transfer problem, the incompressible Navier-stokes equation is solved. This paper numerically studies the coupling phenomena and presents optimal channel design considering forced convection.

  • The purpose of this study is to define masculinity as a shilling concept, stemming from the process of power groups controlling the conscious and unconscious of human beings to diffuse their ideologies, and to examine how masculinity has been reflected in aesthetic images in men's bodies and fashion. As for the research methodology, literary research and demonstrative studies through the analysis of pictures and photos were undertaken. Emerging in the wake of the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, the absolute powers such as the bourgeois elite, males and the Wet emphasized the importance of reason, and made aesthetic images such as authority, robustness and modernization in men's fashion. In the conversion to the Information Society, poweres horizintally spread out over society. By using non-reason, diverse power groups have broken down traditional masculinity and express diverse aesthetic images in men's fashion such as eroticism, multi-culturalism and liberation.

  • This paper proposed that an Analysis of a partial resonant AC-DC converter for high power and power factor operates with four choppers connecting to a number of parallel circuit. To improve these, a large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit have been proposed. And, some simulative results on computer are included to confirm the validity of the analytical results. The partial resonant circuit makes use of an inductor using step-down and a condenser of lose-less snubber. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. And the snubber condenser used in a partial resonant circuit makes charging energy regenerated at input power source for resonant operation. The proposed conversion system is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used

  • A monolithic 5 GHz image reject mixer using a 0.5-m GaAs MESFET technology is designed and simulated. The Mixer exhibits a 13.56 dB down-conversion gain, a SSB (Single SideBand) noise figure of 11.91 dB, an input IP3 (third order intercept point) of -3.73 dBm and a PldB (1-dB compression point) of -11.0 dBm. The critical issue in the image reject mixer is the phase accuracy and magnitude balance of the 90 phase shifting network. The proposed image reject mixer realizes a 90 phase shifter on chip. This phase shifting network does not need any phase adjusting to achieve the phase error specification of 3 over a frequency range from 800 MHz to 1GHz. The simulated overall image rejection ratio is better than 50 dB.

  • Due to the development of electric energy conversion technology and need for energy saving most of the electric machinery and equipments are using power semiconductor switching elements, On the contrary semiconductor switching device is more sensitive to the voltage instability and voltage distortion. In order to manage the voltage distortion following foundation should be settled down in advance. First, reasonable and objective technical guidelines should be established. Second, monitoring network for power quality should be operated. In this paper measurement results of the harmonic distortion of the special loads are given and method for harmonic pollution management is discussed.

  • when electric traction system used DC 1500V runs on decline of rail road track and slows down, dc voltage goes beyond regular voltage. In this case extra power is forcibly wasted by resister because rectifier of substation and electric train including power converter and so on are out of order. This paper described a DC electric railway system, which can generate the excessive DC power form DC bus line to AC source in substation for traction system. The purpose of this study was the development of the regenerative inverter system which suppress extra DC-line voltage and regenerate the energy instead of using a resister. That is Developed regenerative inverter system returns the regenerative energy from the DC line voltage to the utility. In addition, the inverter can be compensate the harmonics caused by the power conversion devices used in the DC traction system.
