  • The present study aimed to determine the test-retest reliability of subjective visual horizontal (SVH) testing when tested with solid and dotted line images. In this repeated measures study, 36 healthy young Malaysian adults (mean age=23.3±2.3 years, 17 males and 19 females) were enrolled. All of them were healthy and had no hearing, vestibular, balance, or vision problems. The SVH angles were recorded from each participant in an upright body position using a computerized device. They were asked to report their horizontality perception for solid and dotted line images (in the presence of a static black background). After 1 week, the SVH procedure was repeated. The test-retest reliability of SVH was found to be good for both solid line [intraclass correlation (ICC)=0.80] and dotted line (ICC=0.78). As revealed by Bland-Altman plots, for each visual image, the agreements of SVH between the two sessions were within the clinically accepted criteria (±2°). The SVH testing was found to be temporally reliable, which can be clinically beneficial. Both solid and dotted lines in the SVH testing are reliable to be used among young adults.

  • Two experiments were conducted to examine how additional dotted lines and peripheral stimulus to the caf$\grave{e}$ wall illusion affect on the degree of perceived tilt (amount of illusion) and confidency of illusionary perception. The experiment 1 tested the effects of adding mortar (solid line) and bright contrast dotted lines to the borderline of 3 layers of blocks, which are consisted of black and white blocks. On the experiment 2, effects of adding peripheral stimulus on caf$\grave{e}$ wall illusion were tested. The results of experiment 1 showed that adding dotted line on the borderline mortar between blocks has additive effects on confidency of illusory perception. However, no effect on perceived amount of illusion was noted. On the other hand according to the results of experiment 2, adding blocks did increase amount, but not confidency of illusory perception. These results imply that the perception of caf$\grave{e}$ wall illusion is related with response of orientation selective neurons.

  • Aerial Images are usually used to extract 3-D coordinates of various urban features. In this process, the stereo matching of images should be performed precisely to extract these information from aerial Images. In this research, we proposed a matching technique based on geometric features of lanes. We extracted lanes from aerial images and grouped into 4 lane's types. They are lane lines, dotted lines, arrow lane, safety zone. After preprocessing, We will match them by spatial relationships, for example, the distance and orientation between the extracted features. In the future, we will obtain lane coordinates and reconstruct 3-d coordinates of roads.

  • The subfamily Ennominae is one of the most species-rich taxa of Geometridae that include more than 9,700 species worldwide and over 280 species in South Korea. Herein, we present the first report of five species of Ennominae. Abraxas flavisinuata can be characterized by the white wings, a thick black postmedial line that is medially and dorsally broken with an orange band, large rounded black discal dots on the forewing, and a black dotted postmedial line on the hindwing. Lomographa claripennis can be characterized by the whitish wings, the black undulating postmedial line as well as the minute blackish discal dot on the forewing, and the black undulating postmedial line with a minute black discal dot on the hindwing. Arichanna tetrica can be characterized by the grayish forewings, thick black transverse ante- and postmedial lines, a large blackish discal dot, whitish apical streak on the forewing, and scattered black dots on the whitish hindwing. Apocleora rimosa can be characterized by the brown ground color of the fore- and hindwings, the black slanted ante- and postmedial lines of the forewing, and two black medial lines on the hindwing. Ourapteryx japonica can be characterized by the white wings, the dark brown transverse ante- and postmedial lines with a long discal dot on the forewing, and the dark brownish transverse antemedial line as well as a termen that has a sharp white tail with one large dark reddish dot and one small black dot on the hindwing.

  • This study aims to analyze the types of arrows used on the inscriptions in the light unit of 7th grade science textbooks, and to investigate middle students' conceptions on the meaning of the arrows. The types of arrows in 9 science textbooks were analyzed. Based on this analysis, the instrument was developed to access how 7th graders perceive the meaning of arrows. In addition, we interviewed 7th graders, 2 students in high level, 2 in the middle, and 2 in low level by their achievement level, to investigate their perceptions on the meaning of the arrows. We analyzed 4 types of arrow by the process in which the reflected light from the object come into one's eyes. Students tend to perceive the meaning of the solid line and the dotted line of arrows differently according to their achievement level. When the light pathway is represented in which the reflected or refracted light enter into our eyes, it is necessary to describe and teach clearly both the meaning of solid line as the light from the object and the meaning of dotted line as the perception of the existence of the object.

  • In autonomous driving, road markings are an essential element for object tracking, path planning and they are able to provide important information for localization. This paper presents an approach to update and measure road surface markers with HD maps as well as matching using inverse perspective mapping. The IPM removes perspective effects from the vehicle's front camera image and remaps them to the 2D domain to create a bird-view region to fit with HD map regions. In addition, letters and arrows such as stop lines, crosswalks, dotted lines, and straight lines are recognized and compared to objects on the HD map to determine whether they are updated. The localization of a newly installed object can be obtained by referring to the measurement value of the surrounding object on the HD map. Therefore, we are able to obtain high accuracy update results with very low computational costs and low-cost cameras and GNSS/INS sensors alone.

  • A geometrical description method is proposed to represent the process of the forward selection and backward elimination methods among many variable selection methods for multiple regression models. This graphical method shows the process of the forward selection and backward elimination on the first and second quadrants, respectively, of half circle with a unit radius. At each step, the SSR is represented by the norm of vector and the extra SSR or partial determinant coefficient is represented by the angle between two vectors. Some lines are dotted when the partial F test results are statistically significant, so that statistical analysis could be explored. This geometrical description can be obtained the final regression models based on the forward selection and backward elimination methods. And the goodness-of-fit for the model could be explored.

  • While page segmentation is an important step in document recognition, there haven's been many researches on it. More improvement is still needed on the segmentation of document elements in complicated or color documents. In this paper, I present a new page segmentation method which can segment pages with multiple columns, dotted lines, graphics, and photographs. I extract all connected components using contour following and combine them depending on the size and positional information of them. Separate text location is done for non-text color regions to extract possible text lines. To see the performance of the proposed method, experiments are done for 180 documents. Four commercial OCR programs are also tested and the proposed method showed the best result.

  • This Study is purposed to comparative analysis in the case of balanced with Ethnic image fashion and the event of an unbalanced between fashion and make-up and to reconfigure on the make-up of the features on the Ethnic image Fashion in the 21st century. The result of this study is as follows. First, in the case of Japanese ethnic image make-up, to emphasize applied forms and formative characterization, they generally use circles and horizontal lines. Also the harmony between Japanese image make-up and primary colors like white and red strengthen ethnic images better. In the event of an unbalance between fashion and image make-up, fashion occurs dynamically in Africa and linearly in China. Sexy & natural image make-up also widely appear in the modern view. Second, in the case of African ethnic make-up balanced with African image fashion, the form is repeatedly dotted, widely water-colored, and mattedly textured using ash make-up colors such as white, red, gold, gray and so forth. African image make-up strongly expresses primitive natural beauty adding primal tribal painting art and mask forms. In case of an unbalance between fashion and image make-up, no distinctive ethnic image make-up appears. To emphasize natural patterns as well as splendid & decorative fashion, they try not to use primary colors, but instead focus on natural make-up and monotone colored point make-up, sexy make-up, avant-garde make-up, goth make-up, romantic make-up, glossy make-up.
