It is necessary to expand organ donations of the deceased, as more ethical problems are emerging from the increase in organ donations from the living. As the legal and ethical discussions on donation after circulatory death (DCD) as a field with the potential to expand such domestic organ donation are being held, the need for a social consensus is increasingly highlighted. Organ DCD refers to the donation of an organ from a patient whose spontaneous blood circulation has stopped due to cardiac death. In this study, we aimed to examine whether there are legal and ethical obstacles or medical uncertainties for expanding the practice of DCD. By law, death is recognized as cardiac death, and brain death is recognized as an exception for organ transplantation. Although circulatory death precedes brain death, this paper presents a discussion to begin the process of reaching an ethical and legal agreement on whether or not circulatory death can be recognized as death. Successful implementations of DCD, including Category III DCD, in other countries are currently being reviewed to introduce Category III DCD in Korea.

The purpose of this study was to examine nursing college students' knowledge of and attitudes toward brain death, organ donation and organ transplantation. The research design utilized in this study was a descriptive research design. The data were collected from September 7 to 14, 1998, by means of strutted questionnaire. To measure students' knowledge of brain death, organ donation and organ transplantation, Joo's(1995) instrument was used. The questionnaire was composed of 22 items. To measure students' attitudes toward organ donation and organ transplantation, s(1995) Instrument was used. The questionnaire was composed of 22 items. The data were analyzed by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's Correlation Coefficient using the SAS program. The results were as follows : 1. Students' knowledge of brain death, organ donation and organ transplantation was 9-20. The mean score was 15.36, with 22, the highest possible score. There was statistically significant difference between students' knowledge and approval on the brain death recognition group(t=9.75, p=0.002). 2. Students' altitudes toward organ do nation and organ transplantation showed is mean score of 3.61 on a 5 attitudes points Liken scale. More than 80% of respondents agreed that organ transplantation can offer a high quality of life to the recipient and is an acceptable form of medical treatment. The health care costs associated with organ transplantation are worth itif another's life can be saved. Students felt it important to help others who are very ill. Also, by donating organs, students felt a part of their own body would continue to live by making it possible for someone else to live. Only 2.9% of students objected to organ donation for religious reasons. There was statistically significant difference among students' attitudes, experienced blood donor group(t=17.04, p=0.000), approval on the brain death recognition group (t=21.06, p=0.000), organ donation agreement group(t=46.13, p=0.000).
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the knowledge and attitude about organ donation and organ transplantation among the organ donation candidates. Methods: The subjects were 91 candidates who are enrolled in organ transplantation center in general hospitals for organ donation or transplantation. The knowledge and attitude instruments about organ donation and transplantation by Matten, et al. (1991) were utilized. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS/WIN 14.0: descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test and Pearson correlation coefficient. Results: The mean score of knowledge was relatively low ($9.61{\pm}3.47$, out of 21.0). The mean score of attitude was relatively high ($4.24{\pm}0.97$, of max score 5). There was significant difference (p<.05) in knowledge according to academic career, registered period as a candidate, the intention to participate in an organ donation education. There was significant difference (p<.05) in attitude according to occupation, family's consent, and recommendation to family. The relationship between knowledge and attitude was not stylistically significant (r=.043, p=.683). Conclusion: These findings suggest that nurses should develop educational programs to increase knowledge and positive attitude toward the organ donation and transplantation.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test and validate a model to predict living and brain death organ donation intention in nursing students. The conceptual model was based on the theory planned behavior. Methods: Quota sampling methodology was used to recruit 921 nursing students from all over the country and data collection was done from October 1 to December 20, 2013. Results: The model fit indices for the hypothetical model were suitable for the recommended level. Knowledge, attitude, subjective norm and perceived behavioral control explained 40.2% and 40.1% respectively for both living and brain death organ donation intention. Subjective norm was the most direct influential factor for organ donation intention. Knowledge had significant direct effect on attitude and indirect effect on subjective norm and perceived behavioral control. These effects were higher in brain death organ donation intention than in living donation intention. Conclusion: The overall findings of this study suggest the need to develop systematic education programs to increases knowledge about brain death organ donation. The development, application, and evaluation of intervention programs are required to improve subjective norm.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a sense of community and trust in charitable organization on donation motive and attitude. For this study, 901 adolescents were surveyed in four areas of Chungnam province. And data analysis was performed by frequency analysis, T-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling. The major results were as follow. First, it was found out that donation attitude was higher in female adolescents than male adolescents, and in high school students than middle school students. Second, there were positively significant correlation among a sense of community, trust in charitable organization, donation motive, and donation attitude. Third, as a result of SEM, donation motive was fully mediated between trust in charitable organization and donation attitude as well as between a sense of community and donation attitude. Lastly, the limitations of this study and policy implication for the activation of donation were presented.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the knowledge and recognition about blood donation and satisfaction, look for ways to promote the idea that effective, was trying to get the plan to provide the basis for the expanding population of voluntary and continuous blood donation. A survey was from May 9, 2012 to May 24, 2012 and total 636 copies were used as final study data. The data collected analyzed with SPSS win 21.0 using descriptive methods, frequency analysis, chi-square test, t-test, ANOVA. The results were as follows. First, the rates of the blood donors were higher in the men, in the age group from 20 to 29, in the students and in the group that received college or higher education. Second, as for the knowledge and recognition of the blood donors on blood donation, many replied they didn't know well about it. Concerning satisfaction level, they gave higher marks to satisfaction with related service than with blood donation itself. Third, the necessity of sustained blood donation promotion and education was pointed out. TV was most preferred, followed by ads on the street and ads on the subway. To expedite an increase in the blood-doner population, prolonged education and promotion are required to change the way that people in general look at blood donation, and a variety of rewards should be provided for blood donors.

Library is a social institution that satisfies the intellectual needs of the community and provides information, cultural enjoyment, and continuing education to the community. However, it is true that a library may face with difficulties in satisfying the diverse and advanced needs of its users and performing its newly acquired roles because of the limited financial resources of state and local governments. Therefore, this study proposed the introduction of corporate donations as one of the options for library funding, both for expansion of critical library infrastructure and for the internal stability of library operations. To this end, this study determined corporate donation goals, donation targets, campaign donations, the number of libraries being built and renovated, and the effects on libraries that obtained corporate donations by investigating and analyzing known corporate donation cases. The results of this study could be used by libraries hoping to attract corporate donations.
