Real-world Accident Study on Injury Characteristics of Elderly Driver in Car-to-Car Frontal Crashes (정면충돌 시 고령운전자 상해 특성에 관한 실사고 연구)

  • Real-world accident cases were investigated to understand injury characteristics of the elderly driver. A total 10 cases of car-to-car frontal crash accidents from passenger car including SUV claimed to domestic car insurance company were reviewed. The injury characteristics of the elderly were analyzed from personal information (gender, age), medical treatment record (medical certificate, curative days), vehicle information (model, air-bag, seatbelt) and damage information. This study showed that elderly driver has higher possibility of thorax injury than non-elderly's. Moreover, Injury type and severity were more severe than non-elderly driver at similar type accident conditions. Also, elderly driver's medical treatment period needs 3 times more than non-elderly driver's.

  • The production of electricity from wind energy is noticed as economic power generation system in the natural resource. Lately, since lots of wind turbine have installed globally, the accidents have increased gradually. In this paper, we classified domestic information for 10 years, information of new energy and industrial technology development organization(NEDO) for 4years and caithness windfarms information forum(CWIF) for 15 years according to part and cause of wind turbine accident. We found that the main causes of accidents are storm, lightening and carelessness. The results of classifying and analyzing the informations, should be used to take measures on the accident prevention of wind turbine.

  • The chemical factory deals with dangerous element and more advance, human-error analyzes and becomes effective research for the country and region, this paper analyes the form of work-miss on human-error according to a safety accident for domestic chemical factory from 1999-2002. It include the present contents and raise issues human knowledge, behavior, judgment, sensibility as an important counterplan that makes the safety solution of work miss. For the point of view of human knowledge, it takes color standard for works to be effective in work place. for behavior, the test has been for risk point of work place and infra worker movement, also the workers performed professional work as classify according to work. for judgement, the valuation sheet is reflected to minimize the human -error and the 3rd supervisor does a cross-check audit beforehand. For sensibility, it is applicable for human relations, information, communication by program to the consciousness and an attitude of worker-supervisor.

  • Representative of Korean accidents is that occurrence number of accidents is not many. But the extra-large size disaster like as Taegu subway accident are occurred continuously from multi place. It brings a big problem that people has spirit shock and a life damage nationally and socially. The problem point which brings like this tragic death is caused from the fire confrontation system of absent and human confrontation mistake. Therefore, we need the confrontation plan to overcome these accidents. It will be able to prepare favorably in accident confrontation. In this paper, we analyzed fire accidents case study on domestic and oversea and proposed the plan which confronts encounter to fire accidents in subway system urgently and properly.

Accident Models of Circular Intersections by Weather Condition in Korea (기상상태에 따른 국내 원형교차로 사고모형)

  • This study deals with the traffic accidents by weather condition. The objectives are to comparatively analyze the characteristics, and to develop the models of traffic accidents by weather condition. In pursuing the above, this paper gives particular attentions to testing the differences between two groups, and developing the models(Poisson and negative binomial regression) using the data of domestic circular intersections. The main results are as follows. First, three Poisson models and one negative binomial models which were all statistically significant were developed using the number of accident and EPDO by the clear weather and other as the dependant variables. Second, the differences between two models were comparatively analyzed using the chosen variables. This paper might be expected to give some implications to traffic safety policy-making to reduce and prevent the traffic accidents in circular intersections.

Gas Explosion Hazard Analysis in Domestic (가정집에서 가스폭발 위험성 분석)

  • A leak of fuel gas in partially confined area creates a flammable atmosphere and give rise to an explosion, which is one of the most common accident in domestic. Observations from accident in domestic suggest that some explosions are caused by a quantify of fuel significantly less than lower explosion limit(LEL) amount required to fill the room, which is attributed to inhomogeneous mixing of leaked gas. The minimum amount of leaked gas for explosion is highly dependent on the mixing degree in the area. For lighter gas, such as methane, a high concentration tends to build up in the space from ceiling of room. But heavy gas, such as propane, a high concentration tends to build up in the space from bottom of room. This paper presents a method for analysing the explosion hazard in a room with very small amount of leaked gas. Based on explosion limit concentration, the gaussian distribution model is used to estimate the minimum amount of leak which yields a specified explosion pressure. The results demonstrate that catastrophic structural damage can be achieved with a volume of fuel gas which is less than 0.5 percent of the total enclosed volume in domestic. The method will help analyzing hazard to develop new safe device as well as investigating accident.

  • This study aims to provide divers with improved safe diving practices by analyzing reports on scuba diving casualties that recently(from 1997-2003)occurred in Korea, Japan and USA. The result of this study can contribute toward preventing the diving accident. All the data were collected through the diving accident reports of various sourse, which include KUA(Korea Underwater Association) technical committee, the accident statistical data of National Maritime Police Agency, articles of domestic and foreign scuba diving magazine, accident reports of various newspaper, annual report on decompression illness and diving fatalities by DAN(Diver Alert Network), various type of data on diving accident from local as well as national seminars, and medical treatment data of diving accident.

Case Analysis of the Aviation Accident·Incident During the Last 10 Years Using the ECCAIRS 5 Data (ECCAIRS 5 Data를 활용한 최근 10년간 항공 사고·준사고 사례분석)

  • Recently, in an effort to decrease aviation accident worldwide, there has not been any significant decline of the aviation accident rate. Therefore, in the international society, it is more focused on removing risk factors based on data collected and analyzed, in order to improve the aviation safety. This paper introduces on the characteristic of ECCAIRS 5 which become the standard for the worldwide aviation safety reporting and data exchange system. Also, using domestic aviation accident data collected during last 10 years(from 2003 to 2012), we analyze the distribution of the aviation accidents/incidents, annual and monthly aviation accident rate, flight phase, and occurrence category according aircraft type(Fixed/Rotary wing). The analyzation regarding the tendency of aviation accident/serious incident will give the direction to approach the quantitative safety management.

  • Although Korea's economic and domestic automobile market through the change of road environment are growth, the traffic accident rate has also increased, and the casualties is at a serious level. For this reason, the government is establishing and promoting policies to open traffic accident data and solve problems. In this paper, describe the method of predicting traffic accidents by eliminating the class imbalance using the traffic accident data and constructing the Hybrid Model. Using the original traffic accident data and the sampled data as learning data which use FP-Growth algorithm it learn patterns associated with traffic accident injury severity. Accordingly, In this paper purpose a method for predicting the severity of a victim of a traffic accident by analyzing the association patterns of two learning data, we can extract the same related patterns, when a decision tree and multinomial logistic regression analysis are performed, a hybrid model is constructed by assigning weights to related attributes.

Trends of Chuna Manual Therapy on Traffic Accident in Korea from 2005 to 2014 (최근 10년간 교통사고 환자의 추나치료에 대한 국내 연구 동향)

  • Objectives This study is to investigate domestic trends of chuna manual therapy on traffic accident for recent 10 years. Methods We searched the studies on chuna manual therapy for traffic accident in 6 Korean web databases. Consequently, 17 research papers were founded. We analyzed these papers according to their published year, the titles of journal, the type of study, the number of cases, the sites of injury, assessment scales of study, and ethics of research. Results 17 papers were published since 2005. The studies on chuna manual therapy about traffic accident were mainly published in the journal of korean society of chuna manual medicine for spine & nerves and the journal of korean medicine rehabilitation. All papers were clinical research include 2 case series, 2 non randomized controlled trials (NRCTs), 13 randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The most frequently occured symptom was neck pain. In assessment scales, visual analog scale (VAS) was mainly used. All clinical studies were not mentioned about approval of institutional review board (IRB). Conclusions In this study, we analyzed the trends of chuna manual therapy on traffic accident in Korea from 2005 to 2014. In reviewing published papers, we found several weak points in methods of research and quality of study protocol. It is needed to adjust these problems for development of future researches.
